It is an old set of residences that have been converted into a B & B. I have a Jetta, so I could get in and out fairly easily, but I wouldn't be sure of anything much larger than that. Also, whether from the street side or the parking lot side, you're going to have a hard time getting around with a large suitcase. And if you yourself are larger than average (even if you are simply tall), the bathroom may also be a struggle, as it is really smushed into a small space. All that being said, it is a beautiful building and you can't beat the location. It is right by a subway station and in easy walking distance to Bell Centre. I felt perfectly safe walking back after the Hab's game. And leaving was pretty convenient too, as it is really close to a highway ramp.

Th is inn would be a much better experience if they had a different guy at front desk. His name is Sam and he's very rude and uptight. He claims to be the manager.I've met the owner and it's hard to believe he'd hire someone like that to be manager. It takes away from the charm of the place. He is especially rude to women and he acts like he knows me well. But I don't even know him. The location is good being close to a nice part of downtown all within walking distance. The shower in the room was cool plus there was a bathtub next to it. If anyone has a problem with front desk guy his name is Sami El Hassani. e

Parliament, museums, and the canal are an easy walk away, and the main street that the inn sits off of (Elgin Street) is full of restaurants and shops so you don't have to go far for a bite to eat (we liked the Elgin Street Diner the best). The inn's breakfast is nice with lots of choices, (including Nutella!), and I liked that the front door is kept locked at all times. There are some drawbacks, like having to share a bathroom and sleeping on a mattress that was a little uncomfortable. I ended up bringing my own pillow since we drove quite a ways to get there, and I think my husband regretted not doing the same. The floors do squeak quite a bit, but I didn't mind this since I like staying in old houses with lots of character. And I was so tired from walking around all day that I conked out in about two minutes after getting back to the room. Overall, a great place to stay if you'll be out exploring all day and want an affordable and nearby place to crash at night.

Any decision to stay at the Rideau Inn should be based solely on the price and location. At a…read moreweekend rate of $70/night and an easy walk from Parliament Hill, the inn is an easy and affordable launch pad to view the city. The inn would be better characterized as a hostel. The downsides are the rooms are very close together. If you stay on the first or second levels, you will hear your neighbors creaking on the wooden floors overhead. The bed we stayed in was lumpy and in need of replacement. The sheets also had a warped feeling from being excessively washed (probably for several years). Part of our room was dusty/dirty, one of our two lights was not functioning properly and our clock was not set. There is a glass window above many room doors, which cause the bedrooms to be flooded with hallway light. Our suite was small, without sufficient space to store our belongings. Several rooms do not contain their own bathrooms. No toiletries will be provided. An attendant is not on-site for most of the day and the evening hours. The self-serve continental breakfast consists of cereal, fruit and croissants. If you are looking for a bargain in a good location, the Rideau Inn is it. However, if you are in search of a romantic bed and breakfast getaway, or a place for comfort and relaxation, you should look for other accommodation.

We got lucky - if it wasn't for the cancellation a week before we wouldn't have had the chance to discover these great Chalets! Parking is easy! Each chalet has its own spot. Our parking spot was plowed and the walkways were shoveled. We had no issue getting our key using the code box by the front door, very cool concept! The chalet itself was warm, inviting, cozy, very clean, and the kitchen is MORE than fully equipped. I loved the towel swans; such a classy touch! The private jacuzzi inside the sheltered gazebo was super clean and simply awesome. The chalets were easy to find and the location was so quiet and tranquil. Beautiful lake view. Cool Thing #1: They have a book exchange! There are random books on a shelf. If you start to read one and enjoy it while you're there, you can take it with you when you leave the chalet; they just ask that you leave another one behind if you do. I also found a Sudoku game book by the front door! Cool Thing #2: There is a comment book that they leave on the kitchen table. Many guests have written great things in the book and it was really nice to read about their experiences at the chalet! So many positive comments. We wrote a little something in the book too, it was too much fun! We left COMPLETELY relaxed and very pleased. My Husband is not easily pleased and he was very, very happy with everything. My only two suggestions would be to provide a few extra garbage bags (especially for guests who are staying longer than one night like we did) and a few extra tea towels for dish drying would be helpful too. 100% Return-Worthy since we are already talking about our next visit. Thank you, emme Chalets! We'll see you next time!

Really enjoyed our stay this past weekend at Moonstone Manor!…read more This B&B is located in a large, newly renovated home. There are three guest suites each meant for two adults, so at any given time there are at max 6 adult guests. Combined with being out in the country, this means that it is nice and QUIET! A rare and refreshing quality. There are many things to praise but I cannot continue without mentioning that Susie and Mark, the owners, are the best asset of this business. They are both incredibly welcoming, hospitable, and attentive, while also being conscious of giving you space as a guest to do your thing. Upon checking in, Susie sat down with us to discuss breakfast. She is careful to note any allergies or aversions, and to review the menu in advance! We were able to schedule our breakfast for any time between 7-9am. Breakfast itself was generous and more importantly, delicious! We had yogurt with fruit and homemade granola, quiche, potatoes, a stuffed tomato, juice, and all the coffee we could drink. The last thing I want to focus on is that this house is remarkably CLEAN. Susie and Mark have two friendly, quiet dogs and two cats, but unless you are looking right at them you'd never know it. I am actually allergic to dogs and cats, and had zero reaction during my two night stay. In her past Susie worked in a healthcare field and it shows...this is one of the cleanest houses I've ever been in. But it did not feel sterile and cold, quite the opposite. I happened to be visiting for a wedding in Kanata but I will happily stay at Moonstone Manor anytime I need to be in the Ottawa area. It's a quick 20 minute drive downtown to the ByWard Market/Parliament/National Gallery/etc. I can't see myself ever getting a hotel in the city knowing that this is an option. All that to say, if you are thinking of staying here, do it!

Our bathroom didn't have a wall attachment for the shower head, so...we sat for our showers! It was a little weird at first (I'm used to a stand-up shower) but honestly after a whole day of walking around the city, sitting for a shower was a welcome change! They are ideally located too, in a quiet and safe area, and they're close to the bus stop and train station. There's also a cute little street nearby with restaurants and shops. It's relatively easy to get around town with just public transportation alone. We were lucky enough to find free street parking, so we left our car there for our whole visit and relied just on buses/trains/walking and saw pretty much everything we wanted to see. Will definitely be staying here again, assuming they're not already all booked up next time we visit!
