    Our waterfall-side spa
    Leah S.

We booked our spa package weeks before our trip because we wanted the super deluxe waterfall-side massage for two. We were so excited to get this spa treatment, and even more so since the Fairmont is my favorite line of hotels, so I had high expectations. Checking in was a breeze, and we were shown to our changing rooms and lounge area. The walk from the lounge to the waterfall-side cabanas was lined with streams, fountains, and orchids, and was quite lovely. Inside, we weren't given privacy to disrobe, and instead had some weird way of taking off the bathrobe while lying down. Our therapists were decently good for the massage part, and the following facial was also ok. I did however during this time, get numerous mosquito bites, which greatly distracted me from the relaxation, and it was itchy and uncomfortable. My biggest point for improvement with the service was the facial because they didn't tell you what they were doing or what they were putting on, so when my therapist put on a stimulating masque, I had no idea why my entire face was burning, and I panicked. After the package we had a glass of water but the lounge area was overlooked by a balcony and people were watching us. Also a gardener was working in the spa lounge garden which made the area not very conducive to relaxation and zen as we were hoping. We ended up showering off early and heading home, and after an $800 bill for the experience, we felt like it was not worth the money and left us not feeling as pampered as we had hoped.

Best massage I've ever had! Better than Four Seasons. Beautiful atmosphere. I would definitely return and request Malia. Worth every penny.

Very expensive and the deep tissue massage was quite painful. Stick to Lomilomi. Amenities are great and scenery is amazing.

I've been here many times, but today's deep tissue massage was by far the best. Carl is the best.

I really wish I remembered my massage therapist's name, as she had the hands of the most perfect human on this planet. I booked the Deep Tissue Massage and felt every bit of her fingers working through my knots and tension. At times, it felt like she was digging into muscle spaces I didn't even know existed (and honestly wish didn't, because of the pain). Despite my internal screams and disassociation, she was incredibly calming and soothing throughout the entire treatment. It was the perfect way to spend my last day. At the spa, you can treat yourself to the amenities on-site such as the cold plunge, sauna, relaxation areas, abundance of toiletries and a private pool away from all the chaos.

The spa gift shop is full of treasures: workout wear (Lululemon, Vuori, and more), workout gear (bala bands), body lotions and potions, and more! I was able to get a room upgrade and had an amazing view! This resort is absolutely stunning. I love that there was a little bay that had calmer water for little ones and those of us who just wanted to relax and float in the water. I also love that they have some chairs up on a little viewing deck near the ocean that you can just sit and chill at as well. They also have an adults only pool, which is great and it is pretty kid friendly which is also awesome. The entire properties laid out really nicely and still makes you feel like you're in the secluded area. There are a lot of food options on site, which is nice. There's also a couple of shopping centers up the road where you can get food as well. The food at the resort is pretty awesome to me. I loved breakfast! It was so delicious and that donut wall and pastry table had me in the chokehold daily. I loved sitting on the bay. There's so much to do and you have a lot of water activities available to you. I recommend getting the pass (about $80) while you're there, because it's worth it if you want to rent any of the paddle boards. Noodles are free to use. Drinks are available on the beach and there's a little shack for snacks if you're looking for tacos or a quick bite. The rooms are standard but just beautiful. The lanai is amazing and so restful. I really loved the small touches at this place. I love that they had a welcome tray of snacks waiting for me when I came back from the pool my first day, and then they turned my bed down every single night and left me with an inspirational card. It really is the small touches that went such a long way. I probably would say that my only slight recommendation is for the spa to be a little more exclusive or have more to it. But I will say that I loved the massage hut. Those were just absolutely amazing and nothing beats it. If you can get one overlooking the beach. Go for it. But, being in a massage hut in general anywhere on the property is worth it. I would recommend renting a car, because there's just so much to do on the big island. Do you want to be able to get around and you can always take rideshare, but it's worth it to be able to have the freedom to come and go as you please. This was an amazing trip with amazing service, I really can't wait to go back.

I stayed at the Hapuna Prince Hotel over New Years. My…read moreboyfriend and I decided to try the spa while we were there, since a storm was going to be rolling though. Because of the storm we could only get a massage in the spa. I know this is Hawaii. But you would think if you call yourself a spa you would have treatment rooms. I've been to half s dozen others in Hawaii with no problem. There wasn't even s changing area or saunas. They would do better doing them in room! Both of us had 80 min treatments. I had a Lomi Lomi. Mekka was great and he did a fantastic job. But the room was more like a closet. When I first walking in. in front of a chair to set my stuff was a huge electrical box that had a big red sticker saying "stay back 36 inches electrical box". Not a good start for a spa. Also I asked if there was a table warmer or blanket. The room was freezing. I was told he had some towel. The electrical outlets were 4 feet up the wall and wouldn't allow for anything to be plugged in. Now since I wasn't in the same room as my boyfriend. I can't really say but he asked for a deep tissue and. Maybe the therapist thought he said Swedish because she used no pressure and she didn't concentrate on the areas he said were bothering him. And never asked about pressure or how he was doing. I will say after our massages we had to go up the the front desk to complain since there was nothing anyone could do at the spa. And the front desk manager did credit him back for his massage. As far as spas go. This was an after thought to the hotel. Or everyone gets treatments in the cabana. There are only 3 treatment room inside. One is a couples room the other is an Estie room. I can't comment about facials or anything else. Since we didn't go back after the massage experience. Great hotel, Spa needs a lot of help!

I decided to get a massage for my shoulder pains and to treat myself (we were just a week newly engaged) while he was out golfing. It was probably one of the worst massages I've had. It may be that the masseur did not want to put too much pressure to hurt me, but it felt just like a 60 minute body rub with body oil. It was quite uncomfortable for me and it also came with a pretty heft price tag. This year I'm driving out to Kona to get a massage from a non-resort spa.
