Updated review: Since I was in the area, I decided to stop by this Space Coast Credit Union location to make a deposit. There wasn't much people inside so I received prompt service from a friendly female employee. She was also nice enough to inform me of which branch had a working coin machine that was operational. Their coin machine was not operational and they was not accepting rolled coins, which I found absurd. They said I didn't have great credit so they wouldn't let me open an account there. I believe it's because I had in paid credit cards debt

I've been a customer for over a year. I find their staff to be quite friendly and helpful. There is sometimes a wait, but not as much as the big banks. Their CD rates are FAR better than the banks. Such a pleasure to do business here! And never a parking problem. read more

My generalized opinion about this bank isn't the best, but I'll tell you about my most recent experience. I went in there with some account charges that I was not aware of and Emily, the representative that helped me was amazing. She took care of me, very polite, professional and most of all understanding. I have previously had some issues with this bank and they were not at all the least bit helpful. I know credit unions are smaller than this big bank sharks, you would think that they would be more willing to help and keep their clients. Not space coast! But they customer service is always helpful and people like Emily, keep me here. As far as their products, I don't think they are as competitive as the big name banks. They have what I consider useless bank rules when it come to business banking. I'm indifferent. read more

So apparently the bankers at this branch don't have time to help walk in customers with something as simple as a wire... but the bankers have time to stand over the lady who's job is to pass out pastries to try and snatch a date... talk about horrible customer service. They are more customer friendly than my Private Account Bank, Chase. What a delight to find such nice folks working in a bank. I think they are in the category of "we try harder companies". I went in to deposit a check for a friend who had been put on the naughty list by a nasty little band of banks (Wells Fargo, Chase, Bank of America and one other I've forgotten) It's a seven year ban from most commercial banks. He was very ill and relied upon a dimwit relative to do his banking for him and the idiot bounced too many checks on a newly opened account at Bank of America. They wouldn't listen to him and didn't care about his brain tumor. He looked around and discovered this small gem of a bank who were not so fussy and listened to his story and said they would be happy to have his business. Since then I have made it my business to stop in at their branches to see for myself why they are so nice. Easy! They want to grow and they do every variety of loan under the sun. The attitude of the personnel at the branches I stopped at was consistent with the first branch I examined. I surely urge customers who have been screwed by companies that bar you from opening new accounts to try out this bank. read more

For the past week, I've experienced a problem with the, Space Coast Credit Union. For the first time in years, I cannot log in to my account. I have done everything to resolve the problem. Turn off and on my router. Called Infinity to reset my modem. Called SCCU to help me. They say its the problem with my internet provider. My internet provider has checked my router and say its my bank. If I can't get into my account, I will be forced to change my bank provider. I cannot use my bill payer, and it will affect my credit rating. I have several computers and they all tell me that, "server not found", try again later. I have been trying to login for a week now. No success. I can log into my other bank accounts. Only this Space Coast Credit Union bank is a problem. I have Norton Internet Security, with VPN. I have the latest Windows updates. I'm just left out in the cold. read more

I was briefly a Space Coast customer. I only had my account with them for a few weeks because of the horrible treatment that I received at their branch in 5353 Sheridan St. I opened my account at the other Hollywood location, 1628 Sheridan and had a pleasant experience with the person there. However, this initial customer service rep did not fill out the paperwork correctly and this caused me problems the next time I visited. I went to the branch at 5353 Sheridan one day a week or so after opening the account to obtain the paperwork to get a debit card. The teller asked me for my driver's license and then told me there was a problem with my account. She refused to tell me what the problem was, withholding information, but instead took my driver's license behind a secured glass wall and told me that she had to make some calls about my account. I didn't have time for this. I went in to do a five-minute transaction and get some paperwork and here she was demanding that I sit there and wait for her to verify my account. I advised her several times that I didn't have time and needed to come back another day but she took my ID and REFUSED to give it back after several requests. It's important to know that I wasn't trying to make any kind of withdrawal so this behavior was completely unnecessary. I was attempting to obtain a form to fill out. After she continued to ignore me, I loudly started demanding she return my ID because I wanted to draw attention to her inappropriate behavior. I felt like I was being held hostage by some psycho who decided that her "authority" and her ego were going to do what she wanted to do regardless of what the customer wanted. I didn't ask her to verify my account and in fact was already wondering if I even wanted to keep this account because it didn't have all the features that I was promised it did. After waiting for 15-20 minutes while this woman made some unknown phone calls trying to verify information that I never asked her to verify, I finally was loud enough that the manager came out and I got my ID back. I voiced my complaint to the manager on duty who I'm sure issued no repercussion to this rude employee. I had to leave and was then late for my next appointment because of being detained. I'm using the word detained because I felt like I was being held hostage or arrested because some woman refused to give me my license back. I felt like she had gone into my purse and stolen my identification. What she did was tantamount to identity theft in my opinion, you don't get to take somebody's personal information and hold them there. I don't care what you're trying to verify. I didn't ask her to do that, she refused to give me the paperwork I wanted so I said I would return another time but she forced me to stay. Later, I went to the other branch, the one I originally opened my account in, to close my account. I found out that this person did not activate my account correctly. So as nice as the person was they screwed up and caused me to suffer personal injury by the way of being detained. I honestly wish that I had more time that day because I should've called the police on the teller. You can't take someone's personal property and withhold it! That's insane! That woman is horrendous. I hope that there is some district manager reading this so that they know that they have employees doing illegal things that can result in a lawsuit. You can't hold someone prisoner in a bank. I don't care if you don't like their paperwork or something was filled out wrong, information is missing, etc. If someone says they don't want to deal with it right then and they have to go, you let them go. Truly scary and victimizing behavior, all over asking for a form. In addition to this horrible treatment, after I read through the paperwork I realized that many of the features that I was told existed were either going to cost more than they were worth and also that the processing time for basic bank transactions was going to take more than triple the time of a normal financial institution. So in addition to them treating you like a criminal, you can look forward to paying extra for super slow services. read more

I love this bank and this branch by far is the best branch. The tellers are professional and friendly. Even if there is a line ( which is rare) they work fast. I am so glad this branch is my home branch! read more

I called their Mtg Division to get a Home Equity Loan. To make the story to the point. The guy I was originally talking to- Donald who said he was in Melbourne passed me off to someone named Carrie who seemed very inexperienced and confused about my deal. She went away on vacation and my deal sat unattended for days and days and days and then Christmas and New Years. Prior to this and the transfer from Donald to her, a ton of documentation sat in suspense as the computer system in the Credit Union is such that it cannot take a large file (19 pages) which I found disturbing. When Carrie returned to work in January she could not seem to shake the holiday and get familiar with my deal. She continued to ask me questions about a property that that nothing to do with the primary residence. (hoa info) I was asked to give my tax returns- which I did 5 times which I counted. I was not told they did not receive them until almost 8 days had passed. My husband and I file jointly so I assumed they had everything. Later I found that the tax return in question was not the tax return that I needed-of course I have no way of knowing this because I do not specialize in loans. On tax return it was all together so I assumed that was what was needed- it ended up that "Donald" screamed at me and spoke to me in a manner that I found to be inappropriate and combative. What gives him the right to think he can do this? Seriously hope you do listen on the calls. He was the contact, he should take my calls-he passed me off to someone that could not and did not understand what she was supposed to do. (sad) Donald did not want to hear it. I found him to be a rude individual in the end. While waiting for my loan approval I sent Donald several clients-don't think you will be getting that business. Would not want to have him flip out on my clients, may make me look bad. After I contacted Donald and had the altercation I soon was notified that I did not qualify. I immediately went to my bank and got instantly approved- I'm sure the argument had nothing to do with that.......... I wont do any business with you in my life, going forward. As an account holder of 30 years, I can say you honestly suck. You do not get to speak to me like that. I will go in on Tuesday and end my long relationship. The purpose of a credit union is to be able to go to you and use the resources when I need a loan for a car, a house, whatever. I was told that my dti was off, seriously? I made 194k last year - no derog and in my field of business for 34 years and two credit cards. I previously paid off a mtg with you also. The credit union or I should say, Carrie, did not understand how opening my own brokerage in lieu of working under a Re/max or a Coldwell was any different- she seriously thought I had started a brand new job. 1099 for 34 years in the same field-just silly. The whole lax attitude is just a sour pill for me. I am a go, go, go kind of person and you are marching in place pretending to be a lender. Another example of this is when I went to purchase my vehicle, I called you first-----not available----called again, left message and another message. Finally I went online and called my bank, once again, and did my loan the next day; the credit union-you- did not even return my call until 2 days before my payment book arrived-no exaggeration. There is just no excuse for this. When your phone rings, it is because someone wants to give you money-pick up the phone, be polite, work a little, and take the money stupid! You have truly lost a faithful client and one that could have reciprocated a ton of business to you- as always you make ugly choices in who you choose to give your business to. The way I feel right now about Space Coast If I could snatch my money out of their bank today and never speak or hear of them again that would be perfect...but it's Saturday after closing hours. This is my secondary account so I rarely use the money in this account BUT I changed my card because they had the new cards with chips on them. Fast foward the card arrived a week later in the mail, I activated it and it sits in the back of my wallet for about 2 months since changing my card to the one with the chip. ANYWAY I left my other debit card home so I decided to use this one. I stood in a LONG line at the grocery store just to have my card DECLINE at the register. I checked the App, the money is there. I called the bank, the rep told me the chip may be faulty but that is rare and that I would have to wait until Monday to get another card.. So I went to another store, same issue. I changed the pin number ..same issue. I used credit instead of the pin...same issue. After a hour and 2 stores I was so fed up and went home. This was suppose to be a quick run to the store. I let my money sit in this account for months to benefit them but as soon as I need to use it there is a issue. I'm over space coast right now. read more
