Many don't return calls. Some do but then don't follow up. Most can't make the time to fit you in for an appointment and even if they do, they may not show up. I've learned this the hard way. Despite some not great experiences, I've had some pretty good ones, too. I knew Jeff (guy behind the company) was busy as there aren't a lot of people who do what he does (slate roof repair), but even so, his voicemail said to email him. I did. He emailed me back right away (as in a few hours). He explained he was very busy but fit in time to pay my house a visit. He explained clearly what his fees are, how long he thought my issue would take him to fix, and that he wouldn't be free for a few weeks but that he could fit in time after if I was ok with that. I was. He emailed to let me know when he would be there. He asked me questions which I answered. He showed up. He did the work. He even started accepting credit cards on my request (wowza - I've requested it a few times this summer but he's the only person who actually did it). He followed up with me after the repairs to let me know what he had done, and to inform me that there were a few other issues at the top of the house that I should look into (I already knew about the issues, but it was good to hear he thought they were issues, too). It's impressive when someone who is in an industry that's not known for good communication or follow through does just that and then some. I highly recommend hiring Jeff based on my experience. There is no way for me to know with 100% certainty if my roof is ship shape now, but my gut tells me he did a great job. And communication and follow through is super important to me. He came highly recommended from my general contractor. I will definitely call him again if I need further work done on my slate roof.

The carpentry was good but the stain was applied super light and streaky in spots which caused it to turn orange when sunlight hit it. They also got wet stain smudges on some clothing and bed linens. They left the job incomplete and said they'd be back in a week to finish... (while I was stuck waiting for them to finish so I could paint and then rent out the condo for summer). A month went by and when I contacted the owner about the issues and not coming back to finish the job... he got a bad attitude (screenshot of texts attached): "Have a lot of work going on and scedualing [sic] things don't always work out the way I'd like. My prospective [sic] I did the work with no money up front. You had opportunity to look at work before you paid me. I'm done with conversation will be there Thursday morning to restrain trim and pay for hat and linen" I paid him $2000 in cash as soon as he told me the work was done (he had me drive across town to meet him!), but I didn't inspect the work first which was my own fault. He never asked for payment up front... but then complains says I didn't pay him up front and paid him after without looking at the work?? He said he'd come back and re-stain the trim but otherwise refused to finish the job! The doors were never installed and there are sections of trim missing all over (see pics). Really didn't want them back to re-stain trim after already installed (I had furniture and carpet brought in during the month they never came back to finish, and had to start painting... don't want more stain drips all over brand new furniture and flooring). Have tenants moving in in a week and now have to find a new contractor to finish the incomplete work!

Also installed new roof venting and ice shields. Loved the service so much we hired his crew and associates to install drainage and grading around our home and repair a wall and rain gutter system as well as storm damage. He never missed a beat. Great reliable service from a smart guy at a decent price. A real find!

When they came out they fixed nothing but charged us $295. The next day, the owner came over, gave me a general business number to contact and did not follow up with us at all but still charged us $198 for this visit, for a total of $507.79 for ignoring us for hours on the first day and coming by the next day and doing nothing. Avoid them at all costs.
