If you are looking to get greeted at the door by an extremely rude hostess, this is your place! She asked if we had reservations (we were a party of 3) after saying no, we didn't she acted extremely annoyed. I then said "it's ok, we can go somewhere else".....then we were told to hold on.!After getting seated by this lovely rude hostess she places our menus & appetizer plates down hard we still said thank you with no response from her. Needless to say we got up and left......will never return! We took our business to another local restaurant and so glad we did! Spagnas you may want to consider a more pleasant hostess as that is the first person that your customers see! To this older rude hostess.....you may want to consider a different career path! Only been their once and it was a good 7 years ago. We went their for dinner out of the whim and didn't have a reservation. The restaurant wasn't even a 1/4 full, but I had to ask if we could still eat without a reservation. The host gave the impression no but said they hold a few tables for those that don't reserve. We've been here several times when we visit my mother-in-law in Marietta. First off, the patio is fantastic. Sit out there if you can! Cocktails are good and strong. The wine (a Riesling) tasted like it'd been opened and just sitting around for a long while. Unimpressive draft beer list, but I guess you can't expect an Italian restaurant to be chock full o' tap beer. I've had the whole wheat pasta with meatballs, salads, fish specials, lasagna and much more. I think the only thing that wasn't delicious was the flatbread pizza. No more flatbread - anywhere. Best breakfast in Parkersburg / Marietta. A shame it's only brunch on Sundays, but worth the wait. Outdoor patio a serious bonus. Food tastes and is presented in way that makes you think someone in the back truly cares about what they do. We have eaten here several times over the years and it is usually a good experience. The last couple of times not so good. A favorite appetizer is the mussels. In the past they were served in a light sauce with a hint of tomato. Tonight they were served with a marinara sauce that was good but not nearly as good as in the past. My wife loves the scallops and this is her go to dinner. I can't say that I have a favorite entree. Service has been spotty the last two visits. Tonight the waitress never told us the specials and I would have chosen a different entree if she had. Also the food has been slow being served. I am not sure but I think there has been a change in the kitchen and it was not a good. Overall we will probably return but not for a while. read more

Went to Spagna's recently with a large (9 people) party. I started out with a moscow mule but was disappointed. It came in a tall glass and didn't have enough syrup and/or lime in it. I could only taste the ginger beer. But the bread for the table was amazing... i had 3 slices! Then i finished with the Manicotti which blew my mind. You could taste the homemade pasta with delicious mix of cheeses. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes. The service was a 6/10. But the food was a 10/10. read more

My favorite place to dine in Marietta. Solid selection of entrees. I'm partial to the Eggplant Rollitini and the Shrimp and Scallop Fra Diavolo. Each entree comes with a side of pasta and a salad. Plentiful food served in a festive yet intimate setting, Spagna's serves authentic Italian cuisine that is always hot, fresh and flavorful. Prime rib is a special feature on Friday nights and is very well prepared. The wait staff goes out of their way to make your dining experience a pleasurable one. When I requested horseradish sauce to go with my prime rib and they had none, our waitress had the kitchen whip up some just for me! In my opinion Spagna's is the best Italian restaurant in Marietta and even beats DaVinci's just across the river in Williamstown, WVa. read more

REALLY enjoyed this quaint mom and pop Italian restaurant!!!! The shrimp cocktail was served grilled (warm) which was different, but we loved it! The dinners all sounded delicious and it was difficult to decide, but I ordered the homemade lasagna and it was SO good!! Definitely homemade, tons of meat sauce and very flavorful! Each dinner comes with warm bread and a salad ( really just iceberg lettuce) too.. You will NOT leave hungry (and with to-go boxes). I loved this place and I definitely suggest sitting on the patio.. Resto is in a historic building in Harmar district, patio and courtyard area are nice, inside is ok. Service is serviceable enough (ouch), though empty tables are sometimes left with dirty dishes and cleaner spray bottles for long stretches. Food average to average-plus. Have had the Braciole a few times, it has ranged from really quite good to chewy, questionably unspoilt, and very forgettable. Veal parm is good and enormous. House marinara in general is bueno. Portions of everything are huge. Pizza meh. Wine list is fine. Bread is decent enough, though served with butter not olive oil, which would get you shot in an actual Italian restaurant. Nothing too adventurous here, but for standard Italiano, you could do worse. read more

Based on the Yelp reviews and a local acquaintance's recommendation, we decided to try Spagna's. I was really disappointed. We first ordered the mussels in marsala sauce which were huge and done well. The sauce was just good. I ordered the Veal parmesan with linguine and could not finish the veal. It was dry and tasteless. The pasta was done well. HIS salmon was a better choice and he was quite happy with that entree. We also ordered dirty martinis which were okay. First time here was amazing.. We came back again. Looked online to see what time they closed everywhere stated 10 pm. We arrived at 850. Was seated our server was very rude from the get go. Was upset because the resturatant had been slow all night so they were going to close early. Oops we ruined that. Bread had to be asked for even though it clearly states it comes with your meal. They were out of bread.. Mmm everyone else had some.. So bring us burnt garlic bread. Food was nothing like last time. We will not be going back there. Sad we were so excited to eat there again. Romantic space, but casual, too. The antipasta salad is my favorite dish...the roasted garlic really puts it over the top (I usually ask for extra). Their baked dishes are good, too, like their baked ziti. They have a very nice, large patio for al fresco dining in the warmer months. Great for groups. Usually good food here but sometimes the service is a little slow. Biggest complaint is not serving Italian food during the brunch on Sunday. The non Italian brunch food that we ordered was just ok. Only one person in our party likes their meal enough to finish it. If you want Italian, this place is good. If you want Sunday brunch, skip this place. Spagna's is a charming restaurant on Marietta's west side. I have eaten here before and plan to do so again in the future. If not for the chicken "Marsala" this may have been a 4-5 star review. The service was fine. No complaints but nothing to rave about. My dish arrived quickly and I was pleased with the amount of food. However, I knew there was a problem as soon as I smelled it. It smelled delicious but not at all like marsala...it smelled like Chinese food. Instead of the rich wine sauce I expected, I found my dish to be covered in a bland sauce that somehow managed to be both syrupy and oily, a combination I've never encountered in a marsala sauce. The mushrooms were rubbery and very obviously came from a can, which would have made me weep had the sauce been delicious but at that point I pretty apathetic. My friend had a penne dish with beef and let me know it was delicious though didn't have much beef. Additionally, my dessert was yummy. It was almost as if the chicken marsala had been brought in from a different restaurant solely to make me believe they served subpar food. Fortunately, I have had delcious food there before and will likely enjoy meals here in the future. Next time I eat there I'll likely edit this review. read more

My in laws are in town and we were looking for a good place to take them for dinner. My husband and I live in Marietta and had never been to spagna's so we thought we would try it out. We had a reservation at six but arrived at about five thirty to have a drink at the bar. Spagna's is the only restaurant in town that has peroni on tap. We were seated at six out on the patio in a nice shady spot which was nice because it was about 80 degrees out. Service was friendly and quick we did not have to wait for anything and our glasses never ran dry. We were all very happy with our meals and the prices were very reasonable. We will def go back for dinner again read more

Just ate a Spagna's for the fist time. Atmosphere is romantic. The main dish was delicious, Shrimp and Scallops Fra Diablo. Not too hot, just spicey enough to be flavorful. Got the bruscetta for an appetizer, it had too much balsamic mixed with tomatoes which made it too tangy. House salad was ok, liked the black olives. Bread was very good. My wife went to school in Marietta and took me down for the first time this past week. She was excited to take me to Spagna's as it was her favorite place to eat in the area. The service was great, the atmosphere was great and the food was alright. we had calamari as an appetizer and i was a big fan. For dinner i had chicken alfredo and i thought it was just so so... pretty plain tasting, ive had better. My wife had lasagna, she raved about this lasagna and i wish i would have ordered it. the one bite i had was amazing. next time we go down i will be ordering it. price was right on with what i would expect to pay so no complaints here. read more

It's actually nothing more than a pizza place with alcohol. the quality of the pizza is not that well, Especially not for a restaurant. I would expect that from a pizza chain store. After a recommendation from a friend of favorite places to eat in Marietta, my husband and I dined here last evening. There were many other places that had higher ratings, but we decided to go with Spagna's. Our server, Ashley, gave us just the right amount of attention. She was helpful with our questions, and brought us more bread when we requested some to help soak up the wonderful marinara sauce that came with the mussels appetizer. Great sauce! I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan and my husband ordered one of the specials- the monk fish entree. Both were very good. We hadn't had monk fish in many years & were very pleased that it was offered. Salads were included, with dressing on the side. The atmosphere was nice, neither stuffy or too casual.
