This is a place that my family would go to on special occasions when I younger. I was in the area and I nostalgically had to stop in. Not much has changed and it was a great meal. I didn't eat from the children's menu this time. I ordered the Tour of Italy. It's a trio sampler of meat lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo and penne pasta. (Full disclosure- I am not a fan of pasta with just red sauce so I asked my server to leave it off of my plate). It was quite tasty. Each entree comes with a salad. I also inhaled a couple of piece of old school garlic toast. I was offered another serving of the bread and because I wanted to fit into the pants I packed for the trip, I said no. I ordered the chicken Alfredo. It was decent, but the sauce wasn't as thick or rich as I prefer. The salad was good--simple with lettuce, cheese, and a few tomato slices. I do wish my entrée had come out hotter. The other entrees on the table were lasagna and spaghetti deluxe and both looked good. The atmosphere was typical of a standard Italian restaurant. We had an overall good experience. Table Service was lacking with refills and attentiveness. Often had empty glasses throughout the party. Food was wonderful. Ordered the fettuccine with meatballs and cheese sauces. Fried ravioli was cooked perfectly. The restaurant falls in the classic Italian vibe which is a big benefit. Do yourself a favor and skip the "chain restaurants", this is the place to go for your love of Italian food! They also have some of the best staff you will ever encounter. The local owners are always on site and are just wonderful people. There is plenty of space for very large parties if necessary as well as some more private settings as well. Just a great opportunity and atmosphere for family gatherings or a nice date night. Can't say enough good about this place! read more

We had an excellent dinner our first night in town--great service, clean facility, a real local gem. I had the shrimp dinner which came w both a salad and potatoes. The shrimp was fried perfectly, juicy and great breading; the cocktail sauce was fantastic. Loved the meal so much that I had it to nights in a row. Tony and I had to go to the Doctors office in Parkersburg so we decided to try a new to us restaurant in the area. I immediately jumped on Yelp for some suggestions and we were directed by review status to try out Jimmy's, so we did and we were pleasantly surprised. Immediately we were greeted and seated. On our way to the table, there were loads of photographs along the way. This is a time when I wish that I had to wait!! Ever since childhood, I've been fascinated with photos from the past and everything with a history. Found out that this Family Owned and Operated Dining Establishment has been in Parkersburg since 1954. 68 yrs so they must be doing something right or I should say Everything Right!!! Our waitress was very pleasant, took our drink orders, Budweiser for Tony and Unsweetened Iced Tea with Lemon for me!! She told us about the daily specials and made some suggestions. She brought us a basket of Toasted Garlic Bread, oh so delicious!!! Tony went with a Toasted Garlic Bread Meatball sandwich slathered with rich marinara sauce and meatballs with melted Ooey Gooey Cheese and tons of crispy french fries! I opted for the Tour of Italy Entree which included Fettuccine Alfred, Penne with Marinara Sauce with a huge Meatball and a thick slice of layered Lasagna with a meaty sauce!!! Oh the food was so delicious!!! I would have preferred some fresh basil & oil dipping sauce and some fresh ricotta options but it was still superb!! I have never had such a bad experience at this establishment. My pork chops were tough. They have never been tough before. Always tender and juicy but not this time. And my date's salad dressing was spoiled. Smelled bad and tasted bad. They replaced it with something else but I should not have a bad experience at this restaurant. It's one of the worst restaurant experiences that I've ever had. I was seated in a room with no other people when I arrived. Then no one came to my table for 15 to 20 minutes to see if I wanted anything. I ordered water and wine after that time, and it was one of the worst tasting glasses of wine that I've ever experienced. Time passed. 45 minutes passed. I was finally just ready to get up and leave, so that's what I was doing. The waitress, a lady named Mary Diane, was in the hallway. I asked if I was going to be served or not. She apologized. Things did improve from then, but the damage was done. I will NEVER return to a restaurant with such poor customer service. It's never acceptable to wait 45 minutes after being seated before the order is taken, never!!!! Avoid Colombo's!!!! There are many other places that are cheaper and actually have customer service. read more

Lots of history here. I had the meatball sandwich. Meatball was light but it was served between Garlic Bread. You put anything between garlic bread and it's going to be alright. They also give you garlic bread for the table. Better than most places in this city. They get 4 stars for that. read more

The old-timey classic Italian restaurant is great. The eggplant parmesian is my favorite in the area (beating Da Vinci's). The calamari is delicious if you can get past how it looks. The Beef Burger a la Colombo is awesome, but my husband prefers the meatball. The antipasto salads are amazing with the best cheese ever! I really like the shrimp primavera too. I almost forgot the garlic bread. It's so good, I'd eat leftover slices cold with breakfast the next morning. The history of the restaurant is pretty cool too. All of the autographed pictures and Parkersburg history make for an interesting venue as well. read more

Jimmy Columbo's was a nice Italian restaurant that was intimate and cozy but relevant enough to sit down and eat lunch at. The staff was friendly and quick. Food arrived quickly and came with a small bowl of salad and buttered toast. The lasagna was pretty good.
