Nice little joint! I stopped for Diesel and saw the sign that touted "King of Catfish" (or something close to that) And I thought, "How do you *not* test that assertion?" So I ordered the Catfish po'boy and was not disappointed. The catfish was flaky and lightly breaded, and the bread (which really is the backbone of the po'boy!) was perfect: crunchy but soft the way it should be. The prices are reasonable, and they've got both dine-in and carry-out service. The staff was awesome; made me feel like I've been a regular here for years. The food is always good here. Not on menu but I order a biscuit with crawfish cream sauce on top instead of country gravy.

While this establish may be inside a gas station, it is not a hole in the wall joint. They have excellent lunch specials although sometimes they are a little heavy on the salt. They can be a good or bad thing depending on your blood pressure issues. my two favorite lunch specials are the hamburger steak lunch and the fried chicken breast with crawfish sauce on top. They also have a pot roast over mashed potatoes that melts in your mouth. Many excellent dishes to choose from! read more

Just ate here recently and the food was so yummy! I honestly wasn't expecting much just going by the name. I've been to the regular Spahrs restaurant so kind of figured this one would be a microwave version if I'm being honest. I was soooo wrong. I had the shrimp poboy with fried green tomatoes BUT I substituted the shrimp for grilled chicken. I also added cheese. SO. GOOD. Melt in your mouth. I finished the whole thing. My husband got crawfish stew with potato salad and cleaned his bowl out. I tried some and it was really yummy. Also didn't skimp on the crawfish which was awesome. It also came with fried fish which was great! We started with the crawfish bread which we've had before and it didn't disappoint. Forgot to take a pic of this but definitely recommend it. I really don't know what all the fuss is about with this place. There's a decent amount of seating I guess, like 5-6 chairs at the bar. I understand this is at a gas station so it's acceptable, the service is good and friendly I can say. To start, the onion sticks are phenomenal, but that's where it all goes downhill. The fried shrimp isn't bad but not the best, the gumbo is probably the worst thing I've ever put in my mouth. It doesn't even look bad at all it actually looks like I would like it, but sheesh it tastes awful. The crawfish bread (that came with the sampler) is alright, I didn't care for the flavor of the sauce but this is all just my opinions, I suggest you go get your own. I paid $70 something for a catfish poboy, the sampler, bowl of gumbo, and shrimp platter. I was expecting it to be more but I can't complain about that. read more

Outstanding breakfast particularly given that it's in a gas station. So much available seating and so many employees, absolutely no waiting. Aforementioned employees are friendly and kind. Appreciate knowing there were a couple of vegetarian options. My veggie omelette was loaded with veggies and my husband's pain perdu was equally tasty. This is a regular lunch stop on our trips down the bayou and they always serve us great food. We usually get the Des Allmands catfish and recently tried a very well done crawfish stew. Softshell crabs and oysters in season are a good choice. You should know that seafood gumbo in this area will include sausage! An interesting version! Servers have been friendly and efficient and really accommodating! Katey helped us on our last two visits. Pleasant lunch and pleasant service! Yes!! We'll be back! For lunch here today we had the catfish chips and found them still a great choice. Shrimp with pasta had a creamy buttery sauce and was very rich. Shelby helped us with menu selections and was an attentive and friendly server. The food came out promptly and included the extra condiments we requested. The most accommodating restaurant! I have a shrimp allergy and usually can't order anything fried because of the shared batter, coating and grease. I mentioned to the waitress how I'd like to order the fired catfish, but couldn't because of an allergy. Not to sure about if it was a bad night or if it is really just that bad. I got a to go order while passing thru. I got the blazing shrimp app that was nothing more than fried shrimp with buffalo sauce. Needless to say it was terrible the shrimp weren't the same size as the picture for sure they were very small. Great place for good food. It ain't fancy, but tastes great. The catfish chips are good every time I get them (if you aren't super hungry, go for the HALF order.). Last night I went in for them and my waitress (super friendly) asked, "Are you sure? It's steak night. They taste way better than the steaks you get offshore." Well, she got me on that one. NOT the kind of place I'd usually order steak, but I trusted her and scored a big win. 16 oz Ribeye, the flavor was GREAT and I have no regrets. This isn't a griddle steak like I imagined, but nice char over an open flame. I had mine MED- RARE... just right. I have never had a waitress that I didn't like, good down home feeling. I've eaten here several times while working in the area. This is a "dont judge a book by the cover" place since it is located in a gas station complex. Ive been here three times and every time the service has been great. They acknowledge you when you enter, make sure you have refills, and the manager comes around to check on things. I love their catfish bites platter. I can only eat a half order...comes with fries and some toast. The catfish is fried perfectly every time. They always ask if I want dessert and I never have room, but if it's as good as the catfish, I should try it sometime. read more

We were passing through town & decided to stop for breakfast. Menu is pretty small & I was really in the mood for a BLT. The waitress said they usually do have it on the breakfast menu so ordering it wasn't a problem, but it did not come with a side. No problem, I ordered hash browns with cheese on top, which she called 'loaded hansbrowns'. My wife has the beignets & the ham & cheese omlet. The omelet was quite small & my hash browns were flat as I don't know what, mostly burnt, with a slice of American cheese on top. I asked the waitress if these hash browns were indeed the ones on the menu for $2.25 plus the cheese. She said yes they were. I told her I wasn't impressed with the portion size, plus they were burnt. So, she went tell the manager who then came over & apologized & went to the kitchen and made them herself. I could hear her telling someone how the portion we got was too small & was flattened too much. She also asked the waitress if I had a preference on what type of cheese I wanted. I wasn't asked when she took our order. The manager brought out the new order of hash browns and I was very pleased. They tasted wonderful & the waitress said they were taking it off the bill. I told her that wasn't necessary but she was very sweet about it & said it wasn't a problem. My wife enjoyed her omlet, but wished it had been twice the size. We would definitely eat here again. Pleasant staff & the space is very clean. Bathroom foot was extremely slippery probably due to the high humidity, so be careful. read more

I dined here a couple days after Christmas during our road trip to Grand Isle. There isn't a whole lot of options in the area and we were looking for something local and not a chain. We came by during lunch and it was very casual full restaurant right next to a gas station. Service was very friendly with fresh seafood options. We ordered the Crawfish stew with catfish lunch special. It was good with the right amount of portion size. There is also a full bar available and the cocktails and drink menu was impressive. Fish poboy was too fishy, hamburger poboy had premade unseasoned patties. They use a leaf of lettuce . We stopped here on our way from Grand Isle and we ordered based on Yelp reviews.
