    Steak Sandwich
    Chan B.

Great quality food! Very welcoming atmosphere as soon as you enter! We got a few appetizers - crab meat au gratin, stuffed mushrooms, fried mushrooms, and fried pickles. Everything was equally amazing! Creamy, flavorful, and hearty! For my main meal I had a steak sandwich. It was a real steak and I would say the best steak sandwich I've ever had. I got it poboy style and added onions and cheese, so amazing! My fiance got the buffet and he was very pleased, ate it so quickly I couldn't get photos! My friend ordered the corn crab shrimp chowder in a bread boat and I tried a bit, incredible! Great decor, great service, and great food!

You'll probably never just happen upon this restaurant - since it's well off the beaten path. WELL off. This is the kind of place that I love - when I walked in for lunch, probably the only folks in there that didn't grow up in the area were my co-workers and I. It's the real deal, no frills, and wonderful authentic down-home cookin'. I had seafood gumbo which was delicious. Very meaty, tasty, thick. And only $9! It's not fancy inside, you won't get a five-star meal, Zagat probably has never heard of Larose...a solid, memorable experience is what you will get.

Buffet plate. Fried chicken tastes amazing

I came here not expecting much from a buffet hidden out in country side but their fried chicken was one of the best I've had in Louisiana. Better than Popeyes, better than KFC and I'd honestly say, it was almost equal to Willie Maes. Their mashed potatoes were also nice the creamy. Really worth the 9 dollars and the service was pretty good.

GOOD FOOD...BUT EXTREMELY OVERPRICED!!! I will not recommend. The ceilings are too low. It can make one feel claustrophobic.

Wow so much to say! This place is such a gem on the bayou…read more The food is true, authentic Cajun food. My husband has lived on the bayou his entire life and said this is a the only place around here that sticks to its roots. Good, home cooking. No twists and extra things to try and elevate it. It stands all on its own! The decor is so cute! Cajun, down the bayou phrases and photos. Clean! Also plays Cajun music so it really sets up the whole vibe. Okay, the FOOD! We started with the shrimp boulettes, mushroom and Brie soup, and the corn bisque. SO GOOD. Seasoned so well which so many restaurants lack these days!! The boulettes were fried perfectly, not soggy or over greased. For entrees my husband got the "taste of the bayou" which had jambalaya, red beans and rice, and crawfish etouffee. All of them were seasoned perfectly, great sized portions, and just so full of flavor! I got the cochon de lait panini and it was so yummy. The meat was drenched in a tangy sauce and pressed in such yummy bread. I loved it. Came with a side of potato salad but there were also other options. It was so good! Lastly we got the brownie a la mode. It had melted chocolate chips inside and literally melted in your mouth. Didn't get a pic bc we ate it too quickly. Everything was delicious! Also they had the cutest little Cajun menu for the kids. Really great restaurant! Service was amazing from our server Shay. Will definitely be back!

We had no idea how right we were. The island was almost empty and the only people we encountered were state troopers sitting on the side waiting for some speeders. Further down into the island we had almost given up on the idea to have a "real" shrimp meal and turned around. Since it was time for a "natural" break we stopped at several places but they were all closed - except for one. When we drove on the parking lot a lady came out waving at us and asking us to come in. It was in fact the ONLY place that was opened selling beverages on Christmas Day. However, food was provided for free by the residents that came together to celebrate Christmas and they invited us to join them for their Christmas meal. We had ham and turkey, sweet potatoes, stuffing among many other things. What a great experience. Everyone was so friendly and kind that even the 90 minute trip to and from N'awlins was worth every minute. Thank you!

Get ready to let the good times roll when you walk through the door, the sign above the counter…read moresays "Welcome to Cajun Paradise, I'm with couyon" being born and raised in southwest Louisiana I can definitely get the meaning in the correct context, I can also recognize authentic Cajun cooking when it's put down in front of me and mais sha let me tell you these folks are doing it proud. We stopped in here for lunch and ended up with a sampling of what in my opinion is probably the best example of cajun food done right in Houma and for miles around - everything was delicious and the service from Sarah L was outstanding. We started with the Charbroiled Oysters served with toasted french bread, the plump Louisiana oysters were succulent and dipping the french bread in the cajun butter became an obsession, definitely a must do starter - I wasn't leaving here without trying their chicken and sausage gumbo, perfect texture and complex flavors it will make you a believer, my hats off to the chef, definitely authentic - the fried catfish filets and jumbo fried shrimp platters were outstanding although we didn't do it these are the foundation of an amazing po-boy (maybe next time) - all the sides were exceptional from the fried okra and onion rings to my personal favorite the skillet fried potatoes and who could leave without a few beignets served hot covered in powdered sugar - what a meal they should have a place to lay down in the back for a "cajun nap". In my opinion if you craving some authentic cajun dishes you can't go wrong here, the portions are nice and the prices are very reasonable. Our schedule didn't allow us to return as we had planned but will definitely return when we are back in the area...

All food was solid. Seafood gumbo was particularly good. Definitely worth a visit if you are passing through town. For any Midwesterners, you may find the potato salad a little bland. Was expecting a bit more but it was okay. Next time I would skip and get a different side. Most locals seemed to order 1/2 pound of boiled seafood.
