Fun dive bar close to Kauffman Stadium. I came in after a Royals game for a quick bite to eat and…read morewas welcomed right away. Lots of folks here tonight for a Monday. Score has pool tables and darts which seemed popular. They also had karaoke going on which always seems to draw a crowd. The kitchen was open late and I was starving so I ordered a steak salad, definitely recommend as it was cooked to order with a nice amount steak on top. Prices were on par with sports bar prices. The bartender was very friendly and encouraged me to go up and sing. After some liquid courage I got up the nerve to sing a sing. The karaoke host was cool and welcoming too. Score was a great score indeed!

Pleasantly surprising, the place draws a demographic outwardly decent people it seems. So far so good. Beer...cold. Service...above average. Why a 3-star? The food. The menu brags of hand-breaded bone-in wings. If they are hand breaded, then I should be able to get them naked (no breading). They seem to have this confused here also for (no sauce). The wings are available with breading only; which means...you got it...prefab, breaded, frozen chicken wings (not what was on the menu). It shined through shamelessly. 1. So salty I couldn't eat them 2. Mushy meat I sent them back and got the fish and chips. It was just as good. Gnarly frozen fries with the weird crispy chemical on them. The fish was mediocre. Disappointed. Come for drinks. They serve them up promptly in a surprisingly clean environment (considering the area) and the staff and clientele are decent folks. Good place to check out sports and live music. I'll be back.

Rounded out with El Chango which was by far my fav - highly recommend if you like mezcal. Bro tried both the regular and verde michelada and loved both, but especially the green. The bartenders were all so nice and bevs came out quick. Would prob consider moving back to KC solely for this bar lols.

The atmosphere here is everything -- super relaxing with a beautiful Mexican-inspired vibe. The…read moredrink menu was really fun and creative, especially the Lotería card concept, which made ordering feel unique. The drinks were good overall, just not mind-blowing. I had the Estrella, which comes with passion fruit sorbet on top of sparkling wine and nicta (corn liquor). It was interesting, but once the sorbet melted into the drink, it mostly just tasted like sorbet. Good, just not very "cocktail-forward." My husband had the Jade Jaguar, which was tasty -- probably a solid 7/10. Our friend ordered the Oaxacan, which ended up being the table favorite: smoky, slightly sweet, and really well balanced. We only tried a couple of snacks. The chicharrones were a highlight -- warm, crispy, and absolutely delicious. The bar nuts, however, weren't a favorite. Overall, it's a great spot if you're looking for something different and visually/atmospherically special. The music is great but a bit loud, so it's not ideal for long conversations or group hangouts. We didn't try the food menu beyond snacks, but based on the experience, I'd still recommend it for drinks and vibes.

Farewell is a DIY…read morelive music club located in the most out of the way and dilapidated neighborhood in KC, it looks like it should be demolished from the exterior and looks like they payed off the health and codes inspectors from the interior. I'm guessing a bunch of KCAI dropouts broke in one night and built a stage area and bar, moved in a bunch of mismatched furniture and spent $200 on garage sale "finds"; hung and painted some wild art and the requisite graffiti.... I'm not sure how to politely describe this space other than - IT'S Effing PERFECT! After reading about Farewell in a piece from KCUR, I ventured over early on a Saturday to check it out. I was slightly timid to enter not knowing what to expect, but as soon as I opened the door, I knew KC had a very cool and organic place to support live music. I sat at the bar and had a great conversation with bartender / barista Angel. I ordered the first Machiatto that Angel had ever created and it was great. Not wanting to leave so soon, I decided to have a beer and savor the atmosphere while checking out the entire space since I was the only customer. Lot's of art and artifacts to keep the eyes busy, the bathroom is lined with yellowed newspapers from the 60's and the back patio/garden looks like the caretaker passed away a few years ago. I am eager to return for some live music and truly experience the vibe. The booking calendar shows a range of musical styles but heavy on hardcore with multiple acts each night and a lot of touring bands as well as the local start-ups. This place is the epitome of Punk and KC is fortunate a new venue to carry-on the legacy.
