Its been a long time coming and its about time I write SPARC the review that they so badly deserve. It didnt have to be this way SPARC, we were good friends, I was one of your first patients/customers when you opened a few years ago-and I'm pretty sure I was one of your best customers actually for all those years. Coming in multiple times a week and making large $100-$200+ purchases every time. (Which isn't tough to do with their huge price markups) This was the only money I was spending those days, trying to find the right medicine to relieve my debilitating pain and medical issues. I'm not rich and living in SF is tough for everyone. Id expect a club which boasts "affordable medicine" to pander more to the patient. I know my stuff-thats all I gotta say, and its tough for most of the "bud tenders" of any clubs to impress me or show they have any actual knowledge of the product/strain or process of making it. I would get their buds all the time (even though I hated that they were pre weighed and usually so dry by the time they come to you-its such a joke I stopped buying shortly after) but the main product I would go for at SPARC would be their ridiculously priced hash oils/waxes ranging from $30-$65 a gram because at the time they were one of the only clubs with a decent selection. Thank goodness that has changed greatly! At first when I started coming in to SPARC it seemed like the employees cared about creating a positive and welcoming environment and were somewhat knowledgeable on the strains. Although most bud tenders you ask have no idea about how hash is made or what is good hash and whats not, I still expect a person I'm buying MEDS from to know more about it than me. Sadly that is not the case at all. I stopped going to SPARC after it became increasingly clear that they were becoming less concerned with providing a good experience and more concerned with getting people in, selling their overpriced meds, and getting them the hell out. I always had such high hopes for SPARC, I used to like the location and vibes-now it seems like a hospital like setting, you can only vape for 20 min max (before you could stay for hours have fun and it wasn't like people were waiting to vape so I think they cut it down because they realized its more employee work to keep up a fun lounge atmosphere.) The last straw for me came when I came in for the 3rd time in a week to buy a couple grams of oil and some buds. I picked out a few flavors I knew I liked and a new one they just put out-which was on the high end for $55 plus tax. I might add that the reason I was coming to SPARC was because no other clubs had much hash selection, but now with every club boasting product thats even cleaner-theres no use for me to ever go back to SPARC. There are no products or strains that they offer that I cant get a better version of say at like The Apothecarium (my current favorite club) So going back to the story, I brought my purchases home and started to medicate. I tried out the new oil I had bought being super excited, and upon hitting it it sizzled and snapped like hell, and was such a nasty smoke that it made me THROW UP (never has happened to me) and I couldn't dab it anymore. I tried to return the next day to SPARC to talk to them about it because this wasn't medicine and was hurting me and others. I wasn't asking for a refund because I know they can't do that with meds, but my dumb ass was thinking "oh well I come in here a few times a week and spend a good amount and been coming here for years, they will understand and maybe give me a credit or a different cleaner gram." Oh boy how silly was I to think that I could do that, I have never gotten yelled at at a club like that-its a sad defense mechanism when you know you're in the wrong. I left the gram on the table and walked out, never to come back in again. SPARC used to be a club I enjoyed going to and would even tell people to frequent and referred my friends. Now its a place I pass by in detest. If you're looking for high quality medicine that aren't pre weighed and a club that has a wonderful atmosphere-I'd recommend to check out 1.The Apothecarium 2.Barbary Coast or 3.Grass Roots. SPARC is not for the connoisseur, its more for the "Apple store" users of medicinal marijuana. The only people who would really thrive here are business people who care about the pretty packaging and the fact that SPARC won the architecture award-but to me those are not good qualities of medical club. Rather they show what their true motives are, rather than compassion and understanding for the patient. Beware of SPARC. They need to hire people who actually know their meds and who don't have a "holier than thou" attitude. That's not the vibes I like to surround myself with. Makes me sad because they had a lot of potential, but the high influx of business made their meds and customer service go down the crapper. RIP good ol fun times at SPARC. Onward. read more

Humiliation and blame. That is what I got when SPARC "forgot" my registration. I had to register again, even though they could see on the computer that I was already registered. No one would admit SPARC had made a mistake. The security guard made me get on my knees to read an email address in black text on his black laptop cover in the dark. He refused to help me with it. When I let them know I was upset, and said "SPARC f'd up, not me", they 86d me without even telling me, for "cursing out the staff". Expensive and unfriendly. I had a great experience today on my first visit to SPARC. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming an JJ gave a great and thorough overview of how it all works. I my way to the counter with many questions and Todd was very patient and happy to answer all of my questions and actually taught me some things I didn't know. I went in on a referral and planned to only get information but Todd recommended some products that I didn't even know existed and I ended up purchasing quite a bit. I give it a two star for one reason, my husband and I both joined. We were each given 15 per cent discount card for new member. My husband used his for a big purchase, I was saving mine for my purchase next time. When we came back and was making a purchase, I think he was the manager or acted that wAy took the card out of my wallet, I was so surprised he did that and felt he had no right to reach into my wallet, I said I wanted to use the card and was told it was only good for first visit. Even if that was true I thought he was very RUDE, the place is nice but that Energy from him was very snotty. Wrong attitude for a club, I agree with others comments there are other friendlier clubs without bad manners. Don't get me wrong, other staff member were great, place is very impressive but this guy ruined it for me, we will not go back. read more

Love this place. One of the few places to chill vibe and toke volcanos with strangers. The budtends are always kind and knowledgeable. The feel of the place is great from the moment you walk in until you check in your kit. Everything runs smoothly at check in and the lines move fast too. They always have vendors there with FREE sampled even if you don't buy their bomb ass bud. By the by marigold blue dream is sex in a cloud! But one can also bring their own tree to vape. This place is pretty much exactly what I was looking for in a dispensary. They check all the basics, like nice staff, reasonable prices especially after factoring in loyalty discounts, and a large selection. They also have Volcano vaporizers available for customer use which is great. Shoutout to Eddie for doing a great job helping me stock up on edibles last time I was there. read more

As much as I would love to love Sparc, they do not provide great medicine. It is neutered and mediocre the both times I have got bud through Eaze. Let me explain. You look at the bud and its furry but the little balls, (tricolms) that sit on the end of the furry hairs are mostly all missing. That is the medicine. Its either old stock, keefed buds or mishandled product. Whatever the reason, it is a deal breaker for me. 3 stars weak buds at high retail prices. The place is awesome as far as look and feel but unless something is done about this, I will be going elsewhere. read more

My favorite dispensary in the bay, their customer service is top-notch. They treat their customers well and have a variety of programs that members can experience for free (from the free tea to acupuncture, chair massage, game nights, jazz nights, bingo nights, it's practically a community center for medical marijuana patients, which is pretty rad). Everyone on staff is great, but I especially appreciate Harley's knowledge and experience, Eddie's good-natured help, Kat and Karen are great too. They also tend to get great stock in, especially flowers and concentrates. They can be pricey, but they also beat a lot of other local prices and their rewards program gives you $25 off every time you spend $250 so that helps. They have four volcano vaporizers available for use on-site (BYOW) which is a nice way to socialize with amazing people, or awkwardly interact with mentally ill random folks; just depends on who you sit down with. Ultimately I have found this place to be a great way to connect with other patients, find quality product, and occasionally enjoy a cool stonerific event. read more

Dear Ryan or any other upper-level management: This is an open letter to you regarding my most recent visit to SPARC SF. I have been a very loyal patient, signing up within your first week of operation. Lately I have been having more problems than help and have actually never felt as small and inferior as I did yesterday. It was a little after 11.30 or so and my Father who happens to be my caretaker came in with me to get medicine. Business as usual, Alexandria is an angel. Having a little time, we decided to sit for a bit. My dad had some tea and helped me with one of your volcanoes -- I have little stability with my fine motor skills. Everything seemed to be fine; we sat, talked and discussed future doctor appointments. We were rudely interrupted by the in-house security warning us that our "half our was up and we had to pack up and leave." We looked to our right and not one single volcano was being occupied nor were there patients waiting in line for medicine or a vaporizer. Knowing we were going to leave within 10 minutes anyway, we packed up and turned in our vape kit. I explained my issue to the front desk attendant who was very empathetic and understanding. He told me to wait for Harley, the manager at the time. I had an issue with him in the past and nothing was done about it. Aside from this, I explained the issue at-hand. His two responses were that, "people in the past have over-medicated and passed out" and that "the 30 minute rule was there to give other patients a chance to use the volcanoes." I politely told him that I have a legitimate physical ailment and have been a returning patient at SPARC SF since the first week of operation. I explained I have a high tolerance for pain due to the nerve damage caused by having spinal surgery to remove a tumor from the inside of my spinal cord and in addition, I had my care taker with me at the time to watch over me. Harley still would not say anything helpful, apologize, or even take a note for a suggestion. He didn't even seem to care when I said I have a legitimate physical neurological disability that is now most likely permanent. I hope I never have to see him again. I totally understand that if it was busy and patients were waiting in line for medicine while others were in line for vaporizers, the 30-minute rule is completely valid. Under this circumstance I usually don't even use the volcanoes. Using the volcano yesterday for 31 minutes or so was perfect for me and I would have left within 5 minutes. I did not have to be warned and kicked out by security, especially when the house was empty! Talk about rude... it almost felt like discrimination. Security could have been doing something else to help instead of throwing around power as does Harley. I told Harley that its a shame he is never any help and that it was sad that SPARC SF has gone down this far to lose a LOYAL patient. I was a huge fan of SPARC until recently. The dispensary is clean, the selection is always good and the prices are pretty average, so I could deal with it being in a pretty bad location. I was visiting SPARC at least once a week for the past two months, becoming a pretty regular customer but after multiple really unpleasant visits I've decided to stop supporting SPARC. Several members of the staff are rude and unhelpful, while others seem genuinely happy to help. I don't understand why some of the employees seem annoyed 24/7 and then others seem happy to take the time to help me find the right type of medicine. The inconsistency of the service (and straight up rudeness of one employee in particular) is really unacceptable for a dispensary that aims to be as "professional" as SPARC. Here's a tip, SPARC: Don't take your members for granted, because there are plenty of other dispensaries in the city that actually make you feel welcome. read more

Sparc has by far the most consistent and best product in the city. The staff is also super knowledgeable and always willing to answer any questions. Eddie helped me today and he is consistently one of the best people to chat with. He always takes the time to explain each and every offering I have questions on and does it with a smile. Very disappointed with the direction this club is going. I have been consistently coming here for about two years now and they have been in a steady decline for the last six months. Their weed selection has gotten worse and worse while their prices have just continued to rise. Their budtenders talk down to all the customers and stringent corporate feel is a huge turn off. I have been going less and less to Sparc recently and I honestly don't ever see a reason to go back with so many other great choices in the city unless they are having some amazing holiday sale. You really are making a terrible decision by going to this club, you are guaranteed to overpay for a lower quality of weed. read more

These guys have it right. Everything is clearly marked on the packaging itself, not just the website: Sativa ("S"), Indica ("I"), or dominant hybrid ("S ^ I" or "I ^ S"); and THC and CBD %'s. Krystal's recommendations were top form. I gave her an identical description of what I was looking for that I'd given elsewhere, but was way, way happier with the results. I solely made a yelp account to give Sparc a good review. Very very nice dispensary. I live by oakland and the clubs here are just horrible compared to Sparc. When your a new member, you do your usual checking recommendation and then your given a free lighter and 15% off first purchase. Their buds by the way are top quality ! Haven't been dissapointed yet. Not only are they a cannabis club but offer a variety of services such as free acupuncture and classes on knowledge of marijuana health benefits. Terrible customer service despite an excellent selection of products in an upscale environment. In addition to not being able to answer some basic questions around cannabis classification, the budtender who assisted me, Casey, decided in the middle of serving me to yell instructions over my head to the waiting line behind me, rather than wait until after he'd finished serving me and answering all of my questions. When I asked about cannabis genetics, I was treated like I was an idiot who objectively knew less than he did. Rather than take the time to explain things to me, Casey was curt and called for the next customer before I felt finished with my transaction. All in all, a rude and disappointing experience at this dispensary. They have an impressive selection of high quality cannabis flowers but I won't be returning anytime soon and if I do, I'll avoid being served by Casey ever again. read more

I've been a patient at SPARC for a couple of years now and I have always been so happy with them. As anyone with a card knows, some dispensaries are... well... kinda trashy and sketchy. Sparc is absolutely not one of those places. The staff has always been kind and helpful, I never get a weird vibe from the people there and the place is open, clean and inviting. Plus all the cool stuff like game night, bingo, free acupuncture and more on their monthly calendar! The edible selection is amazing and a lot of products are cheaper here than at other places (Im looking at you, Green Cross!). If you have a card, Sparc is like the fancy Union Square hotel of dispensaries and will always have my business. Don't ever change, Sparc!! read more

Show your card at the door. Then go in and either go to the left to use the computer if you didnt do your research before you came, or get in line. The budtenders have all been knowledgeable and friendly. Theres are tables where people can hang out, smoke, drink free hot tea, but good luck getting a seat, they are always full when ive been there. From what i can tell they do alternative therapies that seem interesting like massage, yoga, meditation but i haven't really looked into it. The rewards card is great and a couple of times when i went there, they were giving away free samples at a table. Once, i stopped by the free sample table and they gave me 3 free 20 mg thc cookies! Had a nice chat with SPARC staff regarding "the Indica Issue" - as I'd suspected, it's a seasonal thing that should resolve itself fairly soon. - I gotta disagree with those who find SPARC "elitist" and/or overpriced.
