Messed up my seasonal restart which impacted business revenue. Then my network disappeared forcing me to rely on an unreliable hotspot connection. Then they told me I would need to have a tech come out but that will be 5 days away. No ability to interact with their partners to solve a problem (modem provider). Well I couldn't imagine that any company could out-do Cableamerica for crappy service but at least they stayed up. Tonight my internet has dropped 12 times and counting!! I'm paying 145 a month for 10 dollar a month quality internet at this point. Their message that they make you listen to when you call is a flat-out insult to every customer they have a stranglehold on since their claim that they're providing me the service that I've come to love and expect from them is pure bull. Their message right after that says they're aware of the outages affecting this entire area, but are they? In fact, I haven't seen a single Cableamerica/Sparklight truck in the area ever since. I think their engineers all quit because they don't want to work on the Titanic. And I doubt this "business manager" April V. is anything more than a bureaucratic auto-reply bot! I swear to god if I get the standard gaslight response from this person (??) saying that they're TRULY SORRY in regards to my review, I'm gonna cancel immediately. I've lost work, I've lost money, my employer is telling me I need to find a solution, I need to move, or I'm FIRED. They better hope like hell neither of the last two happen. I live in MS. The customer service is HORRENDOUS. As other complaints said, the agents constantly tell different stories and have a "oh well to bad so sad attitude." I was aware there was an update to the billing system or the system in whole rather- but what I wasn't aware of was that my bill due date would change from what it's been the last THREE years. was told this morning there was a change to the billing cycle, after I woke up and my internet was off. My due date has been the same for THREE years. So I called in, after the agent basically had the attitude of "oh well to bad so sad of course", asked the agent, shouldn't customers be notified of the specific changes? She said no LOL. And I work from home so guess what? I was "late for work." Every other month I have to call about not receiving my billing emails, and it's always "oh I'm sorry, looks like the prior agent didn't opt you in." I'll receive them for a month or two, then it's the same scenario. read more

Sparklight,has been down 4 times with the 5th outage, 7+ hrs during peak business hours. My wife works from home. From 6:45 AM to 1:55 internet was down. Had to go to verizon and buy 5G internet to ensure primary internet so my wife could work. Wow? 99.9% Sparklight up time and no customer service, no one to contact only recordings, and no compensation for lost time I paid for, and no heads up or eta's via text. what a laugh!!!!! If there was a better solution I would take it. I ran an IT network for the government for for 39 years with better service and customer notification. Sparklight fails miserably, but who in Star ID has any choice? It's like our politics pick the best of the worst. We did not even get compensation for lack of service which we paid for! Verizon is not the optimal solution, but a primary for my wife to work and sparklight is a backup because you can't count on Sparklight for work. This is foolishness and poor customer service to the max!!! Talk about monopoly. Century link..... A less tenable option or sparklight? Humm? No choice if you work from home. Customer service is horrible and they don't complete service as they should. We had our internet set up and they ran an orange wire across our yard, we were told they would send someone to bury the line in a week. Here we are two months later with a wire running the whole length of our yard and they won't even try to fix the problem. Use anyone but these guys for your WiFi needs! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Unfortunately this is the only WiFi provider in our area, so we have to stick with them, but if you're able to choose, DO NOT CHOOSE SPARK LIGHT. They have increased our monthly payment two times in the last three months. We get e-statements, so every month I open the email, click pay now and I'm done. You can click a "bill breakdown" to review costs, but otherwise it's not the actual invoice. Customer Service says it is my job to login and download the invoice monthly (because they won't just give it to you straight), to check for their price increase notices as that's where they put them. But that is not noted anywhere on the e-statements so we just randomly get charged new amounts every few months. read more

Horrible service. Initially I asked for a technician to come out and make sure the wifi was set up correctly. They said I didn't need to worry, I could plug the modem in and it should work. Surprise, surprise - it didn't. I tried every coax port in the house with different cables - nothing. So I scheduled an appointment which meant waiting for a week and a half. I was told to expect a phone call 24 hours in advance to verify the appointment. I get the call, the automated voice told me to press "1" to confirm. I press "1". The message repeats... I hit "1" again, the message repeats. I do that five or six times before it hangs up. Of course this is past local business hours so when I try to call back to verify with a human being I'm hung up on again. I call again the morning of the appointment to confirm the technician will show. They say yes. I wait the entire morning - nothing. I call back that afternoon and they them nobody came. Apparently they did, they had the photo of my home to confirm it. They said the tech rang the doorbell and knocked. I'm at a loss, because I was literally home ALL MORNING. I don't know how I wouldn't have heard them at the door. The real kicker is they were supposed to call before they showed up and never did. So now I have to wait another week for another tech to show... We're desperately wanting a different service but of course there are very few options. These services are monopolies, they know you don't have a choice, and they take advantage of it. read more

Horrible service, I called to get set up for Internet and they had responded saying a technician will be out at this day and time. Two days later I am still waiting. I have left work early to come home and sit and wait for absolutely nothing. The only time I get a response is if I call them first, and it's only to jerk me around because they keep changing days and times for installation and I don't know about it until I call them! This is the worst company. I will be canceling my service and making sure everyone I know never looks at this company for any services. *update: I watched the tech drive by my house, did not stop or even slow down, just for me to call them for an update and they said the tech said we were not home. After frustrations with my other internet provider when it didn't work properly - because they are impossible to call I switched to Sparklight. They were professional, came over within a couple days, did a great install plus helped me set up a mesh network. Their customer service and tech support is very easy to reach and if they are busy the automatic system will call you back so you don't have to listen to horrible distorted music. I told a rep that I Wanted to discontinue service. I wasn't Told to return equipment or anything, there was no " how can we keep you as a customer or anything... The reason for this is I was being charged 115$ a month for internet only. then they took it upon themselves to charge me 2 months at a time. I called for an exposed cable which was raised due to roots growing under the ground. I was sure a lawn mower was about to tangle with it. I got a call the next business day by Dean who came right over to review the problem. Dean got right on the repair and spied another suspicious spot which was quickly addressed also. Sparklight internet is very expensive ($83/month) for just basic internet. When you cancel your service, Sparklight totally kicks you out of your account. You cannot retrieve past bills or usage which customer service does not tell you. When I called to get past information, I was told I had to come in the office to get printed bills. When I arrived at their office, I was told I can get a copy of the last statement, any other bills would cost $75. Again why couldn't they mention that information when I originally called in. I cannot express how bad Sparklight is. They never fix problems. They always blame customer hardware. They make you pay for an "great" internet speed but then hide behind them not being able to promise that speed over WiFi. I am up to 5 tech visits, multiple router purchases, and the same lousy, unreliable internet. Techs do not come out for days and leave you waiting for a week to get a fix. This should be illegal and Sparklight should be sued into the ground. read more

If I could vote negative I would. I spent 2 hours on the phone with a rep only to get hung up on. I call back after waiting for them to call me back as they stated they would at the beginning of the call if we got disconnected. strike 1. At no point did they ask me to try another outlet for any of the plugs. I was put on hold while they contacted their support. or so they said. strike 2. Then the lady has the audacity to tell me she wasn't just the same lady I was speaking with. (I work in call center QA. I recognize voices better than faces. plus bitch had the same unique name).... strike 3. She then tells me it's gonna cost me $40 and I have to take time off work so they can come fix it. Now I am a single mother with school aged children and no after school daycare or surviving family to help and they are scheduling the time I am suppose to pick him up. They couldn't offer anything. Thankfully I had three "screwy cord" outlets to try and the last one worked. I did a factory reset to figure out my Wi-Fi name and password. Spark light is definitely more dependable than other internet providers. The price is higher than most but I think it's worth it. I haven't had any big issues. Price was always a little high but better than others. Then they switched to streaming and service went downhill. Sparklight is probably better in my area (Nampa ID) than the other ISP companies out here, at least until TDS Fiber gets fully up and running. THAT BEING SAID--- Their customer service support is lackluster at best and downright terrible on average, no one ever knows the reasons for any of the MANY problems we have. My internet has gone down due to outages (for which CS can't ever give me a reason) three times in the past nine days, for hours at a time, not including the small blips that happen that take anywhere from 5 minutes to a couple hours. Overall Sparklight has serious issues, and if it weren't for the fact CenturyLink is just as bad if not worse and TDS Fiber isn't available yet, we'd have switched service providers a long time ago. Warning Warning Warning. Do not use Sparklight for internet. I have Sparklight in two properties. In both properties there seems to be zombie data usage, even though the networks are locked down. One house was allegedly using 90 Gigs a day when it was vacant. VACANT. Upon investigation, we could find no evidence anyone had hacked into our network. If someone did hack in, it was Sparklight's vulnerability, not ours. When we inquired with customer service, Sparklight was alleging it was the Arlo camera. That doesn't use 90 Gigs (it's more like 1 Gig a month.) At the other property I allegedly eat through 700 Gigs in a few days by just watching some streaming TV and teleworking a couple of days a week. I get an annoying email almost every day telling me where I am on usage and alerting me they're charging me $10 more for another 100 Gigs. I do not believe the usage data stats they're sending me for either property, but I cannot prove they're ripping me off. And they won't prove how they're calculating my data usage. My $60 plan is costing me over $100/month. The internet is also noticeably slower than just using my Verizon cell to connect to the internet and it drops out multiple times per week. This is the most annoying internet company I've ever dealt with. Whatever you do, don't use Sparklight. CenturyLink DSL was just as fast, sadly, and WAY cheaper. I'm going back. And I am looking forward to the day when competition puts Sparklight out of business in Idaho. read more

HORRIBLE!!! Closed our account one July 1st 2020. Called them first of June this year. We sold our home and purchased a new one and didn't need their services any longer. Did everything right to disconnect service. Bill was paid up to date, verified all information. Then they kept services going and billed us for $235!!!! Such bullshit. So far.... not impressed. Their remote is really difficult to understand or figure out how to really use it. Even my adult son is having trouble and he never has trouble with any remote. Next problem... they're the only company I know of in the Treasure Valley who isn't letting their employees come in and help us. Either they won't set up equipment at all or we, the customer, have to do it ourselves. Oh and I've been charged for HBO and Stars and I'm still not getting it. No bueno people. I have sparklight internet service for a few years now. This is a small business account with a static IP. Since having service with them, I have had my static IP change multiple times. Negatively impact in my line of work. I have gotten constantly mixed messaging on personally owned modems, a fair amount of outages, and even suckered into a contract extension that the sales guy wouldn't happen if I only tried their faster service, along with a price increase that was never supposed to happen. Their phone support is absolutely hit or miss on whether you get someone who wants to do their job. It seems you either get someone who gets after it or you get a potato. The supervisors are totally useless on two occasions I had to talk to them. Onsite techs are consistently amazing on all fronts. Other than that, get ready for poor service, questionable stability, and in my opinion breech of agreements. Shopping for other solution to replace this bad one. read more
