Love Spartan!!! They have been my neighborhood drycleaner for many years. The quality is incredible, the staff is friendly and they recently saved my favorite blouse. I had just purchased a white eyelet washable blouse and wore it once. I washed it in my washing machine just after my husband washed a backpack that (unknowingly) still had 4 blue ink pens in it. You can guess what my white blouse now looked like. I washed it again with bleach. The blue ink didn't budge. Spartan to the rescue!! My blouse is white again after they worked their magic. The service is overpriced for the poor quality they provide! I always have to return the clothes because they are not properly washed. The buttons on the sleeves of the shirts are either ironed, broken, missing and the labels on the shirts are ironed onto the collar, which is terrible. The attitude of the employees is also terrible; they are not friendly, and it seems to bother them every time they have to correct something that was done wrong. BE very careful about their charges! I took in a pair of bedsheets and 4 pillow cases, and asked the attendant how much that would cost to wash and press? I was startled when she said $40! They take your credit card, and when they sheets were delivered my charges were $116! (that's more than I paid for the sheets--I called and protested to no avail. gave 5 designer scarves for dry cleaning which they charged me $20/scarf. When I picked them up they were still stained. They told me because they were "old" stains they wouldn't come out yet they still charged me $20 per scarf. Never once did they ask if they were old stains to begin with. I took them to Tim & Deb's and they came out clean. They charged me $7/scarf. Lesson learned. read more

This is a horrible place. My favorite sweater was ruined -- so shrunken my 10 pound dog could wear it. The manager said that it had been washed, not dry cleaned. But I didn't bring it to be washed; I brought it to a dry cleaner to be dry cleaned! The owner had the gall to say that my shrunken sweater was actually a midriff sweater! The manager told me to bring photos of similar sweaters, and I expected to be paid back. NO! The maker was Vince, the similar sweaters were $315. I'm Very upset about my blouse being destroyed. The Manager Vickle was rude saying I New the condition when I brought it in. I wore my blouse one time and it just needs to be dry cleaned the cashmere material is completely destroyed furthermore (someone washed it !) no one contacted me I had to come back-and-forth three times reaching out every time getting a different answer about my five garments . Then my character questioned as if I was being dishonest. I was not interested in having problems however at this point I feel it's necessary to say something. We have been clients of Spartan Dry Cleaners for several years. But, in the past year the service has been terrible. I've had to send shirts, pants etc. back on several occasions. I only continued to use them because they were so close to the house. I picked up an order on Christmas Eve and did not realize how much they had charged until after the holidays. One simple white tablecloth without monogram, lace etc. was $71.00. It was a very inexpensive tablecloth - from Pottery Barn and I don't even think I paid $71.00 for it. It was not stained. In the same order I was charged $32.05 for 5 white napkins - again plain white, no stains =$6.41 each. The order also included a black sweater - it came back with black and white dog hair on it - we don't have a black and white dog. I was charged for a "cashmere sweater" - it wasn't cashmere and the charge was almost $17.00. I was already bringing items to Tim & Debs on Belvedere . . . they are very friendly, reasonable and do great work - and no dog hair. read more

The unceremonious downward slide of customer service in Florida continues apace! I have been using Spartan Cleaners on and off for years. They have been ok for basic dry cleaning services, if rather overpriced. Recently, I made the mistake of taking in a pair long pants ($100 dress pants for work) for basic alterations (hemming by about 2 inches). Since there is no dressing room in which to try on items to be altered for them to mark up, I brought a sample pair of long pants of the correct length to use as a guide for how much to shorten them. What could go wrong? lol Wellll, rather than hemming my dress pants by about two inches, they turned them into shorts... and they also turned the sample pair of pants (the ones that needed no alterations) into shorts, as well. Half of my best work pants were gone, in one fell swoop. To Spartan's credit, they immediately acknowledged that they had messed up. They thanked me profusely for being polite and understanding that "mistakes happen," as well as for not yelling at them. (Unfortunately, I got the impression that yelling may not be uncommon there.) They promised they'd reimburse the cost of the two pairs of pants as soon as I brought in a receipt or documentation of their replacement cost. I did so immediately, but, rather than reimbursing me on the spot, they told me they would need to write a check... and that only the owner could do that. Fine. How long could it take to write a check... thirty seconds? Nope, they insisted I would have to come back several days later. When I came back on the appointed day to pick up the check, it was not ready. They told me to come back several days later. When I came back on the appointed day, once again the check was not ready. Rather than calling me to warn me to not drive over, they were content to have me waste my time and my gas again and to keep stringing me along. The owner was "very busy," I was told -- too busy to take the 30 seconds to write the check. When I pointed out that I needed pants to wear to work and would gladly accept any method of payment -- from ApplePay to PayPal to credit card to good old fashioned cash, any of which transactions would take a matter of seconds to complete -- they insisted on a check, which nobody on the premises could write while I was there. As the days passed and the process dragged on, I began to seriously doubt that Spartan would ever come through. The good news? Spartan did finally come up with the reimbursement. Rather than trying to turn their unforced error into a win, though, they doubled down on poor customer service: when the check was finally handed over to me, it was done in the most graceless way -- no apology, no smile, no effort to let me know that my business was valued. Not even a 'have a nice day' as I walked out the door. The dress pants-now-shorts? Spartan insisted on throwing them out as a pre-condition of reimbursing me. I hope they would at least donate them to the Goodwill next door or to some other resale place, so someone could benefit from them, but somehow I doubt it. I understand that mistakes happen. My dissatisfaction isn't about that. At all. Had Spartan reimbursed me in a timely manner -- and respected my time / treated me as anything other than their lowest priority -- I would have gladly given them the benefit of the doubt and possibly even returned for future drycleaning. The way Spartan handled this, though, was inconvenient, inconsiderate, and infuriating. Hint to business owners: when you promise to make something right, do what you say you will do, when you say you will do it. Treating customers like they and their time don't matter is a totally predictable pathway to turning them into former customers. read more

Expensive and, sadly, they have now ruined at least 5-7 pieces of clothing in the last year or so. I've used Spartan for probably 5-7 years and I was generally happy although they are expensive. But over the last year or so they keep ruining my work clothes. Today, I discovered, for the last time, white spots on black clothes that they cleaned. This has happened repeatedly, where their cleaning process pulls the color out of clothes. They just ruined a brand new skirt that was part of a skirt set. They also don't do a good job spot cleaning, even when you ask them to pre-spot they fail. I'll be trying a new provider. read more

Considering what Spartan Wants to be... claims to be...it leaves a Lot to be desired in terms of 'luxury market' cleaners. The positive: they typically get clothes back the next day, and the 'finish' (appearance) is always tidy and neat. But for anything more advanced, like stain removal, etc., it is essentially the same as any other dry cleaner. They no longer actually Clean garments, at least not in my experience. There was a time when if a button on a shirt was missing a cleaner would just replace it, and either charge or not charge for it. Either way, it was a nice touch. But not here, at least in my experience. I've actually mentioned to the person receiving the order "I have a button missing", and even pinned it to the spot.. only to have the shirt returned with the button still pinned to the sleeve. Stain removal? .. forget it. If you want clothes actually Cleaned... go to REY on the island. Expensive.. but darn well worth it. Spartan is merely a shadow of its former self. It's a shame.. Alterations work is decent, but the major issues is there is no set time to schedule fittings. It is all based on one woman who never answers the phone. There is no way to leave a message and when I asked if there was any way to get fitted somewhere else the staff essentially blew me off. They provided no alternative or reasonable accommodation to make a future appointment. Very disappointed. read more

I have been looking for a decent dry cleaner since I moved to WPB in Jan of this year. On the way home from work I saw Spartan, decided to give it a try. I left 2 dresses, one was a simple silk sleeveless and the other was a sundress. The counter girl gave me my receipt and said it would be done the next day after 4pm. I thought, great- quick and hopefully good. When I went the next day I brought with me 30 dollars, thinking I'll pick up some take-out for dinner on the way back to my apt. When I arrived, the counter girl asked for $38.20. I thought she misspoke and asked her to tell me again what I owed. It was the same number. Now, I've lived in Boca Raton, Miami and Manhattan. For 2 simple dresses, I didn't imagine it would be close to 40 dollars. She called another employee over. This person told me lined dresses were more. I told her my dresses were not at all lined. She checked them very thoroughly. She looked confused at the error, looking confused at the computer. Then, she announced the best she can do was 31 dollars and change. I told her I had only 30 on me and I didn't at all expect such a simple order to be this expensive. I drove some distance from my place to pick this up (this was about halfway between my job and home). She quickly took the dresses and said sorry... While I don't blame the employee I do believe this place to be a real ripoff. I got back in my car and drove home disgusted. Unless this place sprinkles some gold dust on clothes they really should keep prices earthbound. What kind of idiots return to this place? There are plenty of dry cleaners that are cheaper. I just read reviews of this place before writing this and most are less than exemplary to say the least. Not only will I never ever return here, but I'm publicly calling out every return customer to Spartan and calling each and every one a total IDIOT! read more
