While I was pregnant I had weird preggo symptoms like a piece of my wisdom tooth (that was pulled over 20 years prior) worked it's way out from where it lay for decades into the side of my gums. The Dr literally pulled it out and checked me to see if I had other issues but I was fine. They did X-rays in a big smock that was safe for pregnant women. The staff was very kind as well. If I could give Spath 6 stars, I would. The staff was very nice, the office is beautiful with a beautiful view, parking was easy, and all of the equipment was the newest and best available. I was in and out during my appointment time, but didn't feel rushed. I've had Invisalign several times, clear correct, braces, but my teeth keep shifting, so I went in today for a veneer consult. Dr. Spath said I didn't need veneers, and suggested a significantly less expensive treatment. Imagine that, a Dr that actually does the right thing not the most profitable! Great experience overall! I found Dr. Spath by looking up "best dentist" in Costa Mesa and he's the first one that come up! I first reached out via email and received a text from Erycka on their staff. She was very thorough, answered my questions, quickly provided the forms I needed to sign, and helped make my appointment set up easy! Everyone here at Spath Dentistry is very friendly. Super nice, accommodating, organized, efficient and caring. I came here with the new client special ($215) which includes an exam, x-rays, and a teeth cleaning. Great value! I was immediately greeted by Sarah and she was very friendly. She asked me to go through the COVID-19 assessment and get my temperature checked. I passed! Once I was cleared to go, it only took a few minutes to get started. Ashley assisted me with my exam, x-rays. She made the experience pain-free. She was always making me feel comfortable and checking in on me, which was great. She was very thorough and helped me get rid of the plaque. She also gave me these cool tinted dental shades to use so the light didn't bother me which was great! Dr. Spath quickly came in after my cleaning and checked out my teeth as I have been having jaw pain. He answered my questions and going over my x-rays and seeing my teeth, he let me know I didn't have any cavities which was great! He also helped polish out a spot on my tooth, that I wouldn't have noticed without the x-ray. Very thorough and a great doctor! He also advised me to floss regularly and make sure to set up my next appointment in 6 months. The whole process, from setting up my appointment to my appointment and being seen off was great! I came to dr spath for a cleaning and then a few days later he redid a couple old fillings I had on the left side. My first impression was that the staff was kind and he was quick in and out but that didn't bother me. A few days after having the fillings replaced I began having excruciating pain from a tooth on the right. The pain was so bad it went up into my face and jaw. Dr spath got me in immediately. He said the tooth looked fine and maybe something was off from the fillings so he filed a little and gave me a device that helps with TMJ. He also gave me pain pills that the pharmacy wouldn't fill because they said they were too strong and not something a dentist would normally prescribe. The pain continued and I was in a lot of discomfort. I came back to find a solution and saw a fill in dentist for that day. I don't remember his name but he was an older gentleman that was very kind and felt like he was truly giving me time to help me. Again I was told it was TMJ and needed to somehow rest the muscles in my jaw. They said use the TMJ device and heat/ice for a month straight. I did this and no improvement. I came back a 4th time to see dr spath and he basically said he didn't know the issue. The only thing he could think of was filing all my teeth to change my bite or that I need to see an orthodontist to move all my teeth to give better comfort. I did not want braces again especially when my teeth are pretty straight. I felt helpless at this point. The pain would come and go but I was in discomfort 24/7. I went to a "TMJ specialist" who wanted 5k for his help which I cannot afford. And even a chiropractor. Fast forward 9months later I saw a new dentist who knew immediately that the tooth I had originally complained about had an infection and needed a root canal. I got this done and the pain and discomfort were gone instantly. I'm so glad this dentist was able to see this that I could cry. After spending the money and several 1hr trips to dr spaths office I was left feeling like I have no solutions. I just wish he would've seen this when I had my original X-rays so I didn't have to live like that for 9 months. read more

My boyfriend and I made appointments for their $199 New Patient Special, which includes a cleaning, X-rays, and a general exam. Conveniently located right off of PCH in Newport Beach, the office is sparkling clean and comfortable. Upon entering we were warmly greeted by a cheerful employee who already knew our names. All of the staff were lovely and helpful. We filled out some brief health history forms, and then were lead back to have X-rays taken. Next, we individually met with Dr. Spath who examined our results and made recommendations regarding specific concerns and ongoing dental health in general. He was kind, down to earth, and completely nonjudgmental of the fact that I have avoided the dentist for so long. Despite wearing braces my entire childhood, my teeth have shifted and need realignment, hence Dr. Spath suggested invisalign He also said I get some of my cracked fillings fixed before I did the invisalign. Well, my second opinion an orthodontist said no fillings before braces, as they could be ruined since we were moving teeth. Also Dr. Spath said it would take longer and would be $1500 more than the orthodontist quoted/diagnosed. So yeah, seems like a good dentist, but in any major purchase get second opinions! read more

After complaining about my tooth hurting, my neighbor finally convinced me to visit Dr. Spath. I hate going to the dentist, but she said he would do a really good job. The office is located in Newport and was pretty easy to find. The waiting room was cute and pretty inviting. (I found out later that they are doing a major renovation and expanding the office) When I saw Dr. Spath, I understood why my neighbor suggested I see him!! He is HOT, which is always a plus. BUT, aside from that, he is a great dentist. He was professional and thorough, but quick and efficient. I talked to him about some other cosmetic stuff I thought about doing. Have been a patient with Dr. Spath for over a year. I had a tooth infection from having bone loss in 4 different areas in my gum from a childhood virus infection. I went in and Dr. Spath resolved the problem in such a professional manner. (I let them go as a result). He not only is completely competent, he also has connections with other professionals who can resolve issues different than his own area of specialty.
