As a result, the timeline was extended at the very last minute--not once, but three separate times--which left our family displaced from our home for three times longer than we were originally told. The quality of the work performed was equally unacceptable. Much of the work was done poorly, and in several instances, it was completely incorrect. We repeatedly raised these concerns with the project manager, who failed to address them adequately. As a result, areas of our home were damaged--damage that could have and should have been avoided had the work been done with care, competence, respect and proper oversight. What is most disturbing, however, is the growing belief my wife and I share that this mistreatment and negligence were not just about incompetence, but deliberate. As a mixed-race gay couple, we could not help but notice the dismissive tone, condescension, and blatant lack of respect we received throughout the process.
