was recommended to this place by St Lucie Eye Institute my appointment was for today April 29 @ 1pm I filled out all their paperwork and gave them my insurance card. The waiting room was filled with approximately 30 people at first didn't think anything of it since ai thought there might be more than one doctor on staff. As I was waiting one of the staff came out and asked for my payment. I asked how long is the wait and she responded 3 to 4 hours. At this point I still hadn't received back my insurance card or my photo ID. I asked for my cards back and told them I'm leaving this was unacceptable I did not give my payment either. I reported them to my insurance company just in case they decide to bill me for services NOT rendered. I also called the office that recommended them and told them what happened. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism at this ophthalmology office. My 80-year-old father was scheduled for an appointment, and we drove over an hour to get there, only to be told that they did not have authorization from his insurance. This is something that should have been verified before confirming the appointment, especially considering his age and the distance we travel. It is incredibly inconvenient and inconsiderate to expect an elderly patient to make that trip without ensuring all required authorizations are in place.. There needs to be better communication and coordination with insurance before scheduling patients. This experience showed a serious lack of organization and respect for patients' time. horrible experience Dr Simmons saw me 5 times over 6 weeks ran mulitple tests and assured me i had no signs of detached retina. I had to argue with him to refer me to a specialist which i ultimately had to find myself and within 20 minutes of see two other optomologists they both diagnosed me with a detached retina. I spent thousands of dollars at specialty eye associates and wasted 7 weeks and almost lost my vision as a result. While this ophthalmologist specializes in neuro issues I am highly disappointed with the wait times in this office. First visit was 5 hours of waiting to have approximately 10 minutes of testing and a 5 minute consultation for my wife to tell him exactly what was on her charts. They scheduled another appointment for today and once again looking like another 5 hours not including 1 1/4 travel time each way. Maybe scheduling children and adults on separate days might assist with the wait time. Time will tell whether it was worth the wait. read more

If I could give Specialty Eye Associates in Jupiter, Florida, zero stars, I would. This place is an absolute trainwreck and a disgrace to healthcare. I sat in their dingy waiting room for over an hour past my appointment time, twiddling my thumbs while the staff clearly had no clue how to manage a schedule. I took my child there and we were in the overflow part of the waiting room for about 2 1/2 - 3 hours. when we were finally taken to an exam room we were in there for probably another forty minutes before the dr came in for all of five minutes and told me my son had no issue, there is just a lot of space between his eyes. I went for a second opinion and the new dr not only saw my concern, but also found some issues and we are needing to see a specialist for him. run from this office. we were at the one in Jupiter, but I asked if the wait time was always that long everywhere and was told that it is in fact always about three hours or more. that along with being blown off by the dr (especially the poor attention) has brought me here to warn others not to go to or trust this man read more

If you're reading these reviews, they are accurate. The office in Jupiter is a mess. I took my dad for an appointment and was told he had no appointment. I showed her the confirmation email and she said he's not in the computer and has no chart, that I should have called to confirm. I said if he's not in the computer then how did you email me a confirmation and how did I fill out all the forms online. She was rude and didn't care. The office was dark and dingy and had about 40+ people waiting and no more seats to sit in. She told the person in front of me that it's always a 2-3 hour wait. I went in with a 1:00 appointment and there were people there with 10:00 and 10:40 appointments who had not been seen. The receptionist told me that a 4-6 hour wait was normal. This office is the worse for pediatric eye care. They give you an appointment and overbook the appointments. The lobby is jammed pack full of people with no where to sit down. People were standing up all along the walls of the lobby filling out paper work! Then you have to wait up to TWO HOURS for an APPOINTMENT you booked!!!! They don't wash their hands before touching your toddlers face and eyes, then have an attitude when you ask them to sanitize their hands. The front desk has an attitude out of this world! They're so unprofessional. I waited for 4 weeks to get my toddler in and her glasses were not ready when they were supposed to be ready. I had to wait over A MONTH FOR HER GLASSES. Parents just find another pediatric eye care specialist. DO NOT waste your time. I ended up ordering my daughter a cute $20 frame on Amazon, took the prescription to Walmart eye center and got them filled for $60 and they wanted me to pay $100+ for her glasses there. Just ridiculous. My daughter was wearing her glasses that were filled by Walmart over a week before they called me to pick up her glasses, over 6 weeks for toddler glasses. Ridiculous. He will make you keep coming back for so much testing, a long waiting period, you don't get to see Dr Saimon until last couple minutes. Very horrible place. I should have read these reviews before scheduling an appointment for my son. Working in the medical field I understand doctors run behind , cancellations and no shows happen so you over book your schedule to compensate but the extensive wait time that we experienced was absurd. We had an appointment at 1:30PM, we were not seen by the doctor until 3:30PM and we probably would have waited longer if I didn't speak up . In addition they do not tell you when booking an appointment but they do not take vision insurance , and most insurances will not cover a portion of there eye exam which is the part you need in order to get a perscription for glasses or contacts . They charge you an additional $50 outside of your copay in order to recieve an perscription . Which again they do not tell you prior to your appointment. The front desk staff were extremely unprofessional , Dr Simons only came in the room for maybe 2 minutes to let us know we needed to schedule a follow up , which we absolutely will not be doing . The only person who was helpful and knowledgeable was a gentleman who was an assisting physician who actually did the exam for Dr Simons . I would NEVER recommend this practice to anyone. We were referred by our pediatrician and I will be sure to inform our pediatrician to not send patients there moving forward . We will not be going back and highly recommend those booking an appointment to read the reviews prior as they are spot on to the experience that we experienced. read more

This is the most unprofessional unorganized business I've ever seen ran they really need to be shut down from the front desk all the way to management... My daughter was being seen here and I took her on a day where the lady who did the lenses was on vacation so the lady covering for her charged me 60 instead of the 120 gave me a day to come pick up my daughters glasses I went back and they informed me they didn't even have my daughter in their system so we went back and forth for at least a month for them to finally say they found her information in another child's chart 1st mistake then they said they can finally order the glasses because they were never ordered so after we finally got the glasses a month almost 2 went by and I call and ask are follow ups not mandatory I mean they should be you just put glasses on a 3 year old and send her about her life so now they are telling me they can't schedule a follow up because Esther put in the chart I have a balance but Esther was the person that informed me because of the inconvenience I would not have to pay the other 60 I mean regardless I shouldn't have had to because that's what your office charged me covering for someone else or not everyone should be trained to a certain extent so now fast forward today the receptionist transferred me to Diana after me telling them the only person I want to talk to is Esther because that's who I've been dealing with and I was tired of repeating the story as to why I'm not covering the balance so Diana says and I quote are you gonna let me talk now first of all you lied to us saying you paid for her glasses and you didn't but Esther herself told me she found my receipt which is how she managed to inform me the lady charged me the wrong price now I'm being called a liar so I cursed Diana out and they red flagged my kids account and said they can't come back which is fine they leave you in the waiting room for 4 hours before even giving you paper work to fill out I would give 0 stars read more

Waited an hour and 15 mins before calling the office and asking them what the heck was going on. This is a complete scam. I have bought his glasses at other places and they just give you the glasses, fit them on his face and free to go. Not here, Dr Simon wants to squeeze every penny out of you. He doesn't answer any questions about your children's eyes. He could care less about your time and money. He just wants to see you as many times as he can get you here so he can take your money and collect the insurance money. Dr Simon I have brought my son here for 2 years only because when I tried to switch to Bascolm Palmer a year ago your staff was going to charge ME over $200 to transfer records to a new Dr. You should be ashamed of yourself. Delightful experience! We are two retirees who recently moved to Florida and needed complete eye check ups. We really appreciated how well-informed, competent and personable the entire staff was, they answered all of our questions with a smile. We had a lot of testing done and all the technicians were excellent. Dr. Simons has a wonderful 'bedside' manner - he has tremendous knowledge and experience - and set us at ease. Dr. Simons is a Neuro-Opthamologist. I am a complicated case, and I am really appreciating his expertise. I have read the reviews, and agree that for a simple case of corrective lenses glasses, you can get a better value elsewhere. He is a specialist. The care he is giving me is the best ophthalmologist information I've ever had, and he also has a good bedside manner. He talked to me, answered questions, and I thought all the staff was just fine. Upon arriving I talked to an elderly couple who seemed quite upset about there experience the day before. On this day they were once again getting quite flustered with the service from the girl at the desk. Not only did I drive 30 minutes to talk to someone who seems more inclined to sit behind her desk twirling her thumbs rather than work. But I never even saw the doctor canceled my appointment and will take my business elsewhere. There honestly are plenty of places to go to get your eyes checked and taken care of, all of which are better than this.
