I can never say enough good things about Specialty! We moved here from North Carolina and my rescue husky/chow mix can be somewhat stubborn and moody, so I wondered whether we would find a place that she likes as well as our place in NC. We tried a different place in Evansville before finding Specialty and I got the feeling they did not like my dog and I honestly think she could tell. We went for a few weeks, but she never got over expressing anxiety and stress when I picked her up. I was really nervous about trying a new place but Cortlynn and Jen were so reassuring. We've been going to Specialty for a year and a half and it's even better than our place in NC (which was pretty darned good). She's always happy to go and never nervous or anxious when I pick her up. I also LOVE the community work Jamie does and appreciate the opportunity to contribute to that. read more

My last review was in 2016. I felt like I should update this because when I look at reviews I pay attention to the most current ones. I cannot say enough good things about SPG. They have a great daycare staff, outstanding groomers, and clean facility for boarding. My dogs look forward to daycare and I look forward to their exhaustion when they come home. Prices are great for all services. And they don't just groom dogs. I highly recommend SPG. read more

My dogs love visiting here! They both get nails clipped here and while we go out of town are boarded 1-5 days. The employees are so personable and owner Jamie Hubiak is amazing with animals! Facility is very clean and the outdoor area for dogs is pretty much a fun activity center. If we asked my dogs for their preference, they would definitely prefer to move in there 24/7. read more

Ok...rant coming. I have been looking for another dog. Been fairly picky because I pretty much know what I want. Found an American Bulldog in Evansville. It was from the Scott line of American Bulldogs so it was medium build. He had been a breeder at a puppy mill for a year and I located him at a rescue, Warrick County Animal Control. The adoption fee on the website was $250. So I call. They said the dog is at Specialty Pet Grooming in Evansville where it is being cared for. I call them and get a day set up to see the dog. They even text me to know what time, which we set between 11-12 today. They also said the adoption fee was $300 and not the $250 which is advertised. Not happy about that, but ok. So after buying a new harness, leash and couple other items last night in preparation for the dog, we leave at 6am for the 4 hour trip to Evansville. We actually get the the pet groomer early. We walk in and tell the girl up front that we are there to see the dog and have an appointment at 11. The first words we hear are the dog was adopted out this morning. I know I looked stunned, and thought maybe someone put on the paperwork that we were adopting. She went back to get the owner and sure enough the dog was gone. To say I was pissed doesn't even come close. 8 hour round trip drive, fuel costs, and time spent all out the window. Not to mention the disappointment of not even seeing the dog I wanted. So to make this rant shorter, if anyone does business with Specialty Pet Grooming in Evansville or Warrick County Animal Control, please do so with caution. The business practices there are sketchy to say the least. read more

If ur getting ur dog groomed, wait the 3wks to see Jamie, she's amazing! Do not let that other woman near ur dog. It was the worst cut my dog has ever had. I specifically said leave the hair on her head and ears long! That woman hacked my dogs hair off. Then lied straight to my face said she was really matted! She cant even do a bad cut well. There were long hairs on the back of one of her legs and between her toes. Then was totally rude when I went back 2 days later. I don't care about the wasted $45, it's the principal, that lady has no business behind a set of clippers!! read more

I can't say enough great things about SPG. The staff cares for the dogs as they were their own. They play with the dogs. They have baby pools and a bubble machine they bring out for the dogs!! I LOVE seeing the daily pictures of the dogs. It's literally the best part of my day!!!! If you haven't tried them yet - you seriously owe it to your pups to try daycare and grooming there!!! ***Update since my original review earlier this month. I can still say that I feel like my dog was well taken care of by the staff at SPG as far as I know and the staff that I have met have been great. However, unfortunately I can't say the same for the owner. I had a concern that I brought to Jamie's attention both in person and via email 2xs. In my last email message to her I said that if I don't hear back from her soon I would assume that she was not interested in retaining my business and that it would be unfortunate. That was 2 weeks ago and still no response has been received so what am I to do? I do however have a problem with continuing to patronize a business that doesn't find my concerns important enough to address or my business. So now I say only from my experience that this is a great place as long as you never have a concern or policy question for the owner. Again, it's unfortunate because my dog loved it there and looked forward to going frequently, he now has to try to adjust by starting all over somewhere else. I hope others have a better experience than I had here. 1st review- I have recently started taking my Dexter to SPG, first for daycare so that he is able to get some of his energy out during the day. I was very leary about leaving him anywhere at first because we had only adopted him a month prior ourselves. Since that time Dexter has been groomed and looked and smelled great and has also been boarded for 4 days. All of the staff that I have encountered were very friendly and helpful in answering my questions. There prices are also very reasonable. Dexter loves SPG and his Mom does too! read more

Staff is loving of the pets! But, the owner is unprofessional. One of our dogs has had to go the vet 3 different times after going there. She got Kennel Cough, swallowed an unknown object(s), and contracted a virus very contagious to puppies. There was no sympathy, just denial and defensiveness. read more

The best and most trusted place to take your pets to in the tri state area. I have taken my pups to a few different places in Evansville and this is by far the best. The staff is so compassionate and love the animals. My dogs are always happy when I drop them off there and I never worry about what they are doing, because of the constant photo updates on Facebook. I have 4 Cockapoos. I like to get them all groomed at once. That is no problem here. They do such a great job on all of them who each have slightly different hair. Prices are reasonable, and the dogs are treated well. I highly recommend Specialty Pet Grooming! read more

Excellent groomer! Our dog always looks good after coming here. He is a rescue and picky about who can touch him but he does very well here. I highly recommend this place to get your dog bathed and groomed. read more

I am SO pleased with how my guys fur cut turned out. I've tried 4 different places in the Evansville area and I've never walked as pleased as I did today, and hers was the least expensive. The only reason I'm giving her 4 stars instead of 5 is because originally I was told it would only take 2.5-3 hours but in reality it was 4 hours and 45mins. I will 100% be taking him back to Jamie in the future! Also she was able to get my dog in for an appointment quickly. read more
