She stays current on medical advancements and changes in her field, and I am very confident in her competence. I also appreciate that Dr Gregorio listens and explains things clearly. She allows me to be a partner in my own health care, advising without chastising. Another thing I really love is that office staff actually answer the phone at Estrella Internal Medicine and Geriatrics - a rarity these days! Thank you, Dr Gregorio and your awesome team! Wow, people do not appreciate my doctor for the excellent physician she is. So since I was a…read moremedical office manager and a professional medical transcriptionist for more years than I care to think about. I know a good physician when I see one. So I am writing this review, as I find it hard to believe some of the negative remarks I have read in reviews of her office. So I want to put some things straight. I am retired. TYG (Thank you God.) I think I need to explain some things. Doctor Gregorio is an Internist who specializes in medicine for the aged. That is what Geriatrics means. Not every physician specializes in medicine for the aged. I am 69 years old. I know old when I see it. I don't want to see a pediatrician. Although, kids and old folks have different requirements than your run of the mill adult, and react differently to medication. There are a few medications that I took for years and can no longer take because of the changes in my body, and my body's chemistry. Dr. Gregorio is more likely to know all of that kind of stuff and takes really good care of me. Plus, I have a complex medical history and I have some complex medical issues, most seniors do. To give you an example, I live in a senior community and I listen to people talk about their medical problems and how long it takes for them to get an appointment with their doctors. The average is 4 to 6 weeks. Guess how long it takes me to see my doctor, as long as it is Monday through Friday between 9:00am and 5:00 pm, and I have a problem, I get in my car and go to her office. She told me she is my ER between those hours. If it is after 6:00pm or Saturday or Sunday, to go to the ER, they will get a hold of her. I feel that this is a workable solution to all of my medical issues. She also has referred me to some excellent physicians in other specialist fields. I have several. They actually seem to talk to each other which also makes me very happy, medically speaking. There is something else she does, she teaches medical assistants and nurses, yes she does. Good physicians are not "Doc in the Boxes," and as far as answering medical questions she prefers face to face not on the phone where things can be misconstrued or misunderstood. I happen to agree with her. So, if her phone is busy or they don't answer on the second ring, she takes walk-ins if you are already her patient. What that means to you folks who haven't seen her yet is you have to make an appointment for your first visits, you might even have to go in twice for that first visit because she will probably be wanting some blood work and other fun things like that so she can get a base line on your medical needs and she will want to talk to you about it. So, if the office cannot answer your call on the second ring stay on the line they will get to you, and if you want my opinion, and even if you don't, you should wait until they get to you on the phone. I sleep better at night because she is my doctor. You would sleep better at night too if she were your doctor. Last and not least of the things I read, "She should get off of her lap top." Sorry I had to laugh at that. She will never be able to do that. You no longer have a paper chart folks, your medical records are now in that big computer in the sky. Why you may ask? Thank your government for that. It is now all EHR that stands for Electronic Health Records, she is writing her notes about your office visit, she does a good job of it, some are still struggling with that. There are some advantages and disadvantages to EHR. Remember hurricane Katrina, New Orleans was under water, and all of the medical records were destroyed due to flooding, all those medical records are gone. EHR go to a server that may or may not even be in the same state as you and your doctor. So don't worry about her and her lap top. She is entering her notes while it is fresh in her mind, just like she used to write in your chart, as a matter of fact she is typing in your chart. I just thought I would explain that.

I went in for one issue and she started to berate me about my hormones. I've seen my own hormone provider successfully for over 9 years and didn't come to this appointment for anything related to my hormones. I thought maybe she had a bad day, but my husband saw her on a different day and when he emerged from his appointment he said "I never want to see her again, that was horrible." Again, he went in for one issue and she decided to focus on his cholesterol at 161 which is not even high. But she began to scribble on her note pad to take fish oil, (he said, I took one this morning and her response was "you should have taken 2) flax seed and get a follow up appointment to have labs drawn again. My husband is 60 years old, 6'1, 195 pounds and 15% body fat, impeccable labs, great blood pressure and very low PSA lab because he takes HRT. I would caution anyone from choosing this provider if you don't like being talked down to, berated and intimidated. I have nothing positive to say except we will never be back in her office again.

I went to this place for about 2 years. I loved the general staff here. They were amazing. Very…read morekind and personable. They made me feel safe and welcome, so I always took a handful of business cards; handing them out whenever I could. I never had a good interaction with P. Aking, however. Since the very first day I met her, she was very stand-offish. She would never answer any of my questions, giving vague word salad or just outright refusing to answer. I agree with another recent review here about R. Aking. You could use this description interchangably between the two with no difference: "Dr Rodd Aking is the worst. He is mean and dismissive and does not listen at all. He already knows everything, and nothing you do is right." Padma always made it a point to try and make me feel small. She would use the same manipulation techniques commonly used by abusers to try and keep me quiet and controlled. As a man with autism and authority issues, I would naturally always push back. This tension eventually culminated in an incident that happened 2 days ago, in which I suffered a panic attack during the height of my treatment. It seemed like a normal day, apart from the fact that there was a new "don't leave your chair" policy. The central air wasn't running (it has problems all the time) so I began to overheat. I ended up vomiting into the trash while waiting for staff to bring me a fan. Padma came in to observe. I asked her if this was normal. She gave a vague answer. I couldn't quite understand what she was saying due to her thick accent, and all I wanted was to be comforted after a horrible panic attack. She left without giving me a simple answer. While she was out, I got up out of my chair to get a hug from another patient. After she sat down in her chair, I sat down on the floor in front of said patient to keep talking, because I was still coming down from the panic attack. Padma came back in and demanded I sit back in my chair. I sat back down and gently explained that I understood it was for safety reasons, but I really just needed some help grounding myself. Due to dissociative amnesia, the details are fuzzy, but this reply resulted in yet another argument. I told her I couldn't keep arguing because the influence from the treatment was so strong. After staring at me silently, with a judgemental look on her face, for what seemed like minutes, she instructed one of the patients to tuck away her bag strap, as it's a trip hazard, before turning to walk out. Keep in mind, I am still HEAVILY influenced by spravato at this point, so I make an offhanded comment about her being unusually paranoid, speculating the possibility of a lawsuit. At that point, she turns back around and threatens to separate me from the group for "disturbing the others." Keep in mind, the other people in the room were in the middle of helping walk down my panic attack and were not at all disturbed by me. I said without thinking "it seems like the only person I'm disturbing is you." in a flat tone. It was not meant in a malicious way. I have a hard time with words and this lack of a filter has always been a problem for me, being on the spectrum. She then told me that I would have to talk to her in her office after the treatment and left. For the next 10 minutes, I tried and failed, to calm down from thinking about talking to Padma in her office. I couldn't handle the anxiety anymore, I was frustrated, I wanted to get it over with, so I walked into her office. Her door was open. She lied to me and said she was in a meeting or something(she was typing in a word processor and very clearly had time to talk,) and forced me out. I finished the session and went home without a single word from her. Today, at the very end of the buisness day, they called my roommate to tell him that I'm now banned from the clinic. They gave no warning, no explaination, no exit plan for treatment, nothing. This clinic is run by two manipulative and greedy people who will be incredibly pleasant to you as long as you ask no questions and pay their fees on time. If you have even the simplest question like "whats the difference between esKetamine and normal Ketamine," they will get offended and tell you to "just google it." DO NOT GO HERE.
