I was served had no sear on it, the consistency was that of something that had been steamed. Sea Bass is flaky, not oily and it's as thick as a prime cut steak at a fine Steakhouse. The fish? I was served was approximately 1/4-1/2 inch thick of steamed mush. It was inedible to me. Towards the end of our meal our server came to check on us, she noticed I hadn't eaten anything. She asked if I wanted a container for it and I told her that she could take it away. She asked if everything was OK. I explained to her that what I was served was NOT Sea Bass. She apologized and took the dish away. When she came back to the table she said she spoke to the kitchen. She said that they told her that what I was served was Branzino. Branzino is not a fish I order for myself, though I have tasted it. I've been to dinner with family and friends who do eat Branzino regularly. I didn't challenge what the kitchen told her. What would be the point? Our server took my dish off the bill, she asked if she could bring me something else from the menu. She did her best to try and make things right. She was very good. I left her my customary 20%+ tip. I know what Branzino looks like. I would be extremely surprised if what I was served was Branzino.
