    Venezuelan Breakfast
    Lisa B.

The service was over-the-top friendly and made the visit a lot of fun. I took my neighbor here for breakfast for her 78th birthday and she just loved it! The food was great, the coffee was hot, and everyone was so friendly. I got the Venezuelan breakfast, which I've had before and liked a lot. It is both filling and satisfying. She got a veggie omelette, which I'd also like to try some time, and said it was absolutely delicious. When we finished, everyone came over to sing happy birthday to her, and they brought out a piece of Tres Leches cake. She had never had that before, and just flipped for it! Who does that for breakfast? It was absolutely wonderful and made my friend feel so special. Thank you to the staff there, as it got her birthday off to a wonderful start.

    Cantaloupe Juice, 12 oz.

We've only tried breakfast here and it is super tasty. The menu is interesting as they have some traditional Venezuelan dishes. And if you come here, you have to try the cantaloupe juice. Freshly squeezed. It's yummm

The Venezuelan breakfast is amazing and the hollandaise sauce on their Benedicts is one of the best I've ever tasted. Highly recommended!

Amazing food and service, we have already come back multiple times. Only critique would be they should add a kids menu.

The family operated restaurant has some great authentic dishes and the flavors are spot on. The staff is super friendly and they speak Spanish. I had the Shredded beef rice bowl with beans and sweat plantains. They asked me if I wanted cheese on my dish, but because I'm Puerto Rican and you never put cheese on Rice and Beans I said no thanks. But I will say that as a Latino this place took me home in a bowl. The beans were just like my wife makes, accept it's a different bean. The shredded beef had some much of that hispanic flavor I love so much. The beef was super tender and the plantains were fried to perfection. Now I know this is an Arepa bar and I should have had an Arepa but I am not a fan of Arepa's. It's a texture thing for me, but I love the items that go inside of them. As for my co-worker, He had two Arepas and a sugarcane lemonade drink and a cheese stick. He loved every bite! So Arepas are a must buy here along with a rice bowl like I had. Side note: you got to try their sauces! Their hot sauce is called Picante and is made with Habanero peppers. Look out for that one it's super hot! The garlic Sauce and the cilantro sauce taste great but the colors will confuse you. I bet when you see the sauces you'll guess the wrong color with the flavor. So to end this long review, I say yes you should stop by the place and have a meal. It's small and there is only one table so you might want to get your order to go.

GEM IN WOODBRIDGE! Chamos's is a family run restaurant serving EXCELLENT Venezuelan food! I had…read morethe tequenos and Pabellon empanada as appetizers here. The tequenos were good, and were accompanied with dipping sauces. They are kinda like mozzarella sticks, but they are stuffed with a Venezuelan cheese. The Pabellon empanada was one of the best empanadas ever! It's stuffed with shredded beef, plantains, and beans. For dinners I had the Pabellon and the Asado Negro. Both are two staple dishes in Venezuela. Both were AMAZING! The Pabellon is just like ropa vieja. The meat was so tender, and it had a delicious flavor! It comes with plantains, beans, and rice that were all delicious! The Asado Negro is beef steak made in a sweet sauce which is also excellent! For desserts I had the tres leches and Venezuelan chicha drink. They were both so good! The Venezuelan chicha drink tastes like a cinnamon rice pudding. One dessert I'd like to try is their golfeados which is a cinnamon roll with papelon and topped with cheese. I heard they are great, but they sell out fast! In comparison to Merey which is another Venezuelan restaurant in Highland Park this one was far better! Here the portions are generous, and there though the food was good the portions were so small. They have outdoor seating here, but sometimes they keep their tables inside. You can ask them to put a table out for you. They will as they did that for me. I highly recommend Chamos's in Woodbridge!

We didn't get a chance to come for her birthday but instead, came for our wedding anniversary. We've brought family here on special occasions, celebrate my wife's birthday three years ago, have come for happy hour and we've always enjoyed the food here. It was no different this time. I absolutely loved the patacón salvaje which we've never tried before. They use cornmeal to coat the calamari so it is naturally gluten-free, which my wife was able to eat. Also, their Caesar salad was delicious. The bar was set high from our first two courses. I wanted a second order of the fried calamari but we had a steak coming. We were warned about the restaurant being short staffed on Sunday, since we told the hostess that we tried making a reservation through Resy, but nothing was available until Wednesday, which the hostess found odd. Because they were short staffed, things took longer than usual, and our food came out really slowly, but that was a communication issue with the waiter. We saw tables around us who ordered after us get their food first, but we appreciated the waiter who chdecked in on us realizing it was unusual that we've been sitting for a while without any food. The food was worth the wait though. Although the steak was good, and the yucca that came with it plus the sauces, I feel like it wasn't as special or outstanding as the first two dishes. We asked for the steak to be cooked medium, but there were parts of the NY strip that looked a bit rare. We also ordered dessert, the Cacao+ and they also brought out two glasses of non-alcoholic Prosecco which were all on the house. We will definitely be back, especially finding out that Happy Hour runs all day on Sundays.

We had to get an early reservation as they were fully booked at dinner time. The food was just okay: the appetizer with the plantain and fried calamari was okay, it lacked a little bit of dimension and was too acid forward (needed more salt to balance it). The main was the "olleta" which is a vegetarian meal; it wasn't exactly memorable. It has an incredible amount of olives and capers and not enough tofu/plaintain/mushrooms. It was also very acid forward and lacked layers/balance to the flavor. Lastly, we tried two desserts: the flan (I believe it was called quesillo) and the chocolate one. I LOVED the flan with the foam on top, and the chocolate one was towards the bitter side (which was pretty good) but I wouldn't get it again. The desserts were very overpriced for the size of it. The place is well maintained and I love the plants all around. I would like to give it another try as I like to support my fellow Latinos
