Philly Taste Makers checked out The Cage in Audubon for brunch and overall it was a really good experience. Parking was pretty easy, which is always a plus. The setup is a little different from the Warrington location (same owners), and the menu has some differences too but it still gives that signature Cage vibe with the greenery, cool signage, and those iconic cage aesthetics. The GM James stopped by our table to make sure we were good. Good sense of humor. Shoutout to the staff because they really made the experience. Peyton at the host stand was super helpful getting us situated. Our server Jen was AMAZING!!! She was attentive, friendly, and honestly went above and beyond. She checked on us consistently, made sure everything was right, and even doubled as our photographer. Gabe also helped run food and was just as attentive. We started with drinks these drinks are so creatively made and the presentation is cool!!: one person had the Cyclops (very cool presentation with the bubble effect), I had a creamy espresso maestro martini (make sure you say creamy it was smooth and really good), the creamy is baileys. The only downside here: the mocktails lacked flavor, but Jen made sure to address it right away. food: Korean tacos & tuna crispy rice - 9/10 some meat was chewy but the flavor was there. Heard so much about this place and read all the positive reviews so wanted to try it out with 3 of my friends. While it was good, I don't think it lived up to the hype. I had the grilled octopus appetizer and it was good but really over done with sauce to the point that it literally was dripping on the table after slicing the tentacles. The octopus was grilled right and not too chewy. I chose the salmon bowl and specifically requested that the salmon be left very rare since most restaurants have the tendency to over cook salmon and it's tasteless and dry. The server acknowledged that it could be cooked very rare almost raw, like sashimi, which was my preference. Unfortunately as you can see in the picture, the very dry and seemed to compensate for the lack of flavor by saturating the top with the honey glaze. The portion of roasted brussel sprouts was good but small and the quinoa was better. My partners also didn't feel like there was anything special about their meals. The $44 steak didn't even come with a side - you need to pay $9 for a side (though menu shows $8!). I ordered the mashed potato and it was in a TINY ramekin - not a shareable side like you expect when you are charged extra. Either provide a reasonable portion or just include some basic sides with a steak order. We also ordered the tequila short rib which was a decent short rib but no tequila flavor at all. We found The Cage as it was a late night dinner option near us. Decor is a little funky and mismatched on the inside with neon lights, fake plants, chandeliers, and cages. However, the vibe and crowd is good. The restaurant itself is pretty big snd the hostess was able to seat us right away. We ordered drinks, a whiskey burger, and a korean BBQ burger. Both options wete very very tasty. The burgers were cooked to medium rare and were super flavorful with their toppings, making a perfect pairing for each burger. My friends and I are visiting from California and I saw this restaurant had really good reviews. It was Mother's Day and I was surprised we were able to get a reservation from OpenTable. There was gonna be just two of us, but a third friend decided to show up last minute and they made accommodations for the three of us. The staff is very friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. They make their own pasta so that is a huge plus for my reviews. We are staying at a hotel close by and they gave us a 10% discount on our meal. Birds of a feather flock together at the Cage restaurant! A great birthday brunch experience! We celebrated my wife's birthday today and stopped here after church. We read from the many selections from a leather bound menu which just added to the elegant experience. We started with cappuccino's and a mimosa for the birthday girl. Next came the beignets - they were delightfully different from New Orleans and were light and fluffy with a slight crisp texture that was just right (not smothered in powdered sugar like the ones at Mothers in NOLA). We scored an extra beignet for her birthday! Our server was Julia - who brought out our brunch next. Mine was the Florentina Al Forno - the spice of life from the oven with Calibrian pepper oil - especially for those who enjoy a lively kick to the pallet! My beautiful wife had shrimp and bacon cheese grits with a tasso cream sauce just past the halfway point of her mimosa. She said it has such a great slightly smoky flavor to it and just the right amount of spice that it wakes up her taste buds. Drinkwise, this time, we had the UPPER 90, a refreshingly cool cucumber-based cocktail (see photo), and the CLEATS UP, a bold and spicy tequila drink that packed just the right kick. The staff was all very friendly, attentive and ready to provide an excellent experience. The drinks are totally inventive though on the sweet side. One of the best experiences I've had. First of all. The restaurant has a really great vibe. The ambiance makes you feel like you are in a Greek rooftop restaurant! In 2018 me and my wife had our honey moon in Greece and this place seriously brought back some memories. Second, our waitress Julia was warm! Her greeting was great. She gave us a decent amount of space to make decisions and we never had the feeling of being left alone too long. Just that amazingly professional service you'd expect from a top tier place! She made great suggestions, and even knew a decent amount about the Greek heritage of the owners and explained how most of the awesome cocktails were concocted in Greece! The pergola was nice a quiet, nice bit of light, without the sun in my face. We were brought our appetizer which was a feta plate that tasted like authentic feta, (once you've had the real stuff the American version kinda sucks). The Greek myth drinks were just so cool and the menu included myth notes about the drinks that gave the drinks more awe to them. Our entrees we both went with pasta dish's and Jesus #%^*ing Christ were they delicious!!! We had a few more myth inspired drinks and even got freddo with our dessert! I mean I get it, it's a Greek inspired menu, but they actually had legit freddo (coffee drink from Greece. Google it if you don't know)! The dessert? Nothing less than beautiful. My response: at this point in my life, I'll pay more for good food -- but what truly elevates it is great service. Stella wasn't just great. She was exceptional. She seemed to instinctively know not only how often to check in, but *when* -- and that's genuinely hard to teach. Friendly, personable, and helpful without being intrusive. How much is a box of pasta, $1.50? It was a shallow bowl and felt like a major rip off. This brunch experience was fantastic! I drove an hour to meet my best friend for brunch on a Sunday morning. I arrived to find the parking lot packed! In fact, we had to park at a nearby business because it was so crowded. I took this as a good sign. We made reservations and only had to wait about 5 minutes for our table. We were ushered across the restaurant to a table inside what appeared to be a...cage, which was pretty awesome. The restaurant is an IG influencers dream, with beautiful backdrops and aesthetically pleasing cocktails. I was a little nervous because I have a big booty and hips, and I saw some of the chairs looked a little tight, but I was able to fit snugly. Our server greeted us immediately and took our drink order. I got a specialty cocktail and my friend got an espresso martini. We also put in an order of beignets. The beignets arrived before our cocktails and while they were not your typical authentic beignet, they were flakey and warm and had almost a croissant like texture. For our entrees we decided to each order something different and share. I did the brunch burger and my bestie did the crab cake Benedict. We both agreed we could not decide which we liked better. The burger was juicy and flavorful with the most delicious fried avocado and crispy maple bacon. The truffle fries were similar to fries I've had elsewhere but the garlic aioli took them to another level. The crab cake Benedict was also fantastic served with field greens and a delicious dressing, and crispy home fries. Everything was delicious and our server did not rush us at all. I was visiting Norristown for a week - stopped in for happy hour Monday night and went back Tuesday and Thursday! It was truly because the staff was wonderful and the vibe was fantastic. I had their espresso martini and some of their house wines. I really enjoyed their strawberry soda with sweet vermouth drink (soda made in house!!) order a side of their house made focaccia which was tasty! I've had better espresso martinis but this one was still reallllllyyy solid. Would go back for it! I didn't really try any of the food, but all looked delicious. My family and I had the opportunity to dine here on two occasions around the holidays. Once for a late lunch and another for a late dinner. Late Lunch 12/30: We had a lovely visit. The food was great. It was freshly made and came out hot. Our waitress was fantastic. She was knowledgeable about the food and helped us choose well. The flatbreads are great. It was nice seeing them made. Late dinner 1/2: we were seated promptly. The food was great again.Our waitress was great for a little. But, seemed distracted. The service became slower and more non existent. There was a moment that I ended up mentioning something to our waitress that we were noticing after I made that comment the waitress seemed to avoid our table. I'm currently waiting to see if there's a way to contact the business directly. That's not a phone number versus an email to explain our situation. I don't think it's fair to put it here just yet. I believe in reaching out to management first to resolve it there. Problem I have is that there is no email on the site that I can see. I will update my review accordingly if I do or don't hear back. A major plus is being able to make reservations. A negative for myself: with this being a cocktail bar ect I'd love for some more mocktails. There is definitely a market for that and it is definitely on the rise I wish restaurants would see this and make more offerings. It's a perfect place to meet up and has a wonderful vibe. This was fun! The ambience was fantastic and the food and drinks were delicious! My first time going... we went on a Monday night and were seated right away. Even on a Monday, it was hoppin'! I got a delicious Pinot noir, and my daughter got a pretty strawberry drink, which was also really yummy! We shared a few appetizers as our meal. The buratta with pesto.... Those crostini chips! The Korean street tacos, and a flatbread. Each one was absolutely perfect! We walked around a little just to check out all the cool decor. I gave this restaurant a chance for brunch and dinner, and both experiences were disappointing. For brunch I had the steak and eggs, which was not fresh, flavorful, or cooked very well. The steak tasted gamey & lacked salt, and the potatoes were bland. For dinner I had the fettuccini alfredo which tasted like it came from a frozen TV dinner. The only item I enjoyed was the beignets (such a great appetizer for brunch!) The drinks on the other hand were absolutely delicious and beautifully crafted.
