There was a hair in my food. I only had 1 bite when I saw it. I immediately returned it. The owner said he would refund my money. He did not. A perfect back up for a cheesesteak. They are pretty good here. The steak is chopped up, just how I prefer it. The kids chicken tenders were great. Crispy, and the perfect amount. They happen to have some homemade Italian wedding soup available the day I went. It was perfect for the cold weather they had that day. The soup was piping hot and it had wonderful flavor. Pudge's has been on my radar for a long time. People still claim it's one of the best in the burbs of Philly. I had high hopes, but I just can't get on board. I've been in a few times over the past several months and they are consistent. The staff is extremely polite and professional...they are in Blue Bell so I'm sure that's a requirement for the area. The food, however, leaves some things to be desired. I ordered the same cheesesteak every time, American - wit. Every time the meat was so over chopped that it fell out of the roll, additionally the meat lacked flavor. The cheese was always on the roll so that kept the meat dry as well. And the onions, they don't cook them enough in my opinion and again, they're just thrown on top. A little more care, mixing the ingredients may make this a good cheesesteak but for the money and time...it's not worth it. read more

We enjoyed Pudge's for many years but stopped going for awhile. Recently we rediscovered them. My Pizza Cheesesteak was full of onions and cheese and packed. It was delicious and impossible to eat the whole thing. We also ordered an Italian Hoagie with pickles and a Roast Beef Hoagie. Both were enjoyed immensely. They also make their own potato chips. Service (5 Stars) we were greeted and she answered our questions and made sure to repeat our order to us to make sure they were right, I ordered Cheesesteak with Mayo, Fried Onions and Sweet pepper. My wife ordered Chicken Cheesesteak with Mayo and Provolone cheese (I did too). We also got cheese sticks and Cajun fries Food (2.5 Stars) my sandwich was so dry, I had to sip my drink after every other bite, there was so little Mayo. I had to use Salt and Pepper like 5 times to bring out some kind of flavor. I will admit the sandwich was full of meat and toppings, it had the look but fell short. I've been eating Pudge's steaks (and hoagies) for as long as I can remember. It was where my grandma got steaks when I visited as a little kid. Then, my family moved to the neighborhood and it was where we got steaks. I didn't know if I could review it fairly... Was nostalgia making me like it more? But recently, I took my fiancée, who's not from the Philly area but who I've taken to all the big name cheesesteak places (Pat's, Geno's, John's, Jim's, Shank's, Tony Luke's, Delassandro's, Chubby's, Larry's, et al.), to Pudge's, and she loved it and has said several times that it's the best she's had. I'm bad at ranking cheesesteaks. The beauty of them is that they're quick street food where a lot of them are great. But, Pudge's is definitely top tier. Their hoagies are also great. And I've been there enough to try most of their other items and haven't had a bad meal there. The service is above average. It's a steak and sandwich shop, so the service is casual, but when you deal with them, you're dealing with competent, reasonable, and, in my experience, usually genuinely kind people. I went to Pudge's because one of my fellow Yelpers had check-in there. I was curious and the steak sandwiches looked great! So as soon as I found the time me and my husband were off to check it out. The young lady at the counter took our order. We decided on a large cheese steak hoagie and a large pizza steak and a order of Pudge fries. Everything came out within 15 minutes. I wanted to eat some of the fries in the car (while they were hot). They were delicious! Real potatoes cut thin and fried crispy and seasoned just right. With a side of creamy dressing to dip them in. Next time I go, will definitely be getting them again! The sandwiches were Huge! The rolls, nice and fresh. Lots of tender steak! I would definitely recommend Pudge's to all of my steak sandwiches loving friends. The only thing I would advise is whatever extra you want on your sandwich, you need to tell them, like Mayo, Onions, cheese etc. If it doesn't say it on the description they do not put it on your sandwich nor do they ask. I'm not in Philly often anymore, and having tried Dalessandro's on my last visit and being disappointed, I opted for Pudge's this time since it is close to the friend with whom I stayed. I am going to make this review simple and matter of fact. I am not sure if the person I placed our order with is staff or an owner. Regardless, she was rude, impatient and put-out about as much as they come. Covid-19 requires orders be placed over the phone.
