My experience overall was positive. I needed to return some equipment. There is a sign-in kiosk and you can either enter your information or scan a QR code and do it that way. In the past year I've had sporadic service interruptions and decided to switch to GVTC primarily to get fiber optic, lower monthly fee and faster speed (1Gig vs 500 MGB) Cancelling my Spectrum account was a nightmare. I ended up talking to 3 different reps all of which engaged in a canned disconnect interview intended to convince me not to cancel. The first 2 put me on hold for so long that the call eventually dropped and I had to call back. The 3rd ignored my repeated requests that he stop with the endless efforts to change my mind and simply close the account. I spent 45 minutes dealing with this nonsense on a call that should have taken 5. Between the 3 separate calls I wasted an hour and a half listening to the same Sales 101 questions from all 3. It was infuriating! Prior to this experience my opinion of Spectrum was pretty good. Now, not so much. If things don't go well with GVTC I will be hard pressed to return to Spectrum. read more

Spectrum's service itself was solid while I had it -- good speeds, reliable connection, and minimal downtime. However, the billing policy left a really bad taste in my mouth. I canceled my service on April 27, but they still charged me for the full billing cycle (April 22 to May 21), with no prorated refund or adjustment. When I contacted customer service to resolve it, I was simply told they "don't prorate." It's incredibly frustrating to pay for 3+ weeks of service I'm not even using. We switched to ATT (not much better, but at this point the lesser of two evils). Called spectrum and said "hey, we are cancelling and what do we need to do?". That was on 9/11. They said just bring the equipment in and you will be good to go. Well I returned the equipment on 9/13. Not a word was said about my billing cycle. Turns out that my billing cycle was on 9/12. They are getting rude and telling me that I didn't read the term of service. That is clearly states that they will not prorate your bill for nothing! So now I am being charged off for $111.11. Once you have service for a set duration, if you have a contract or not you can expect (You Will) see increases in the bill every two to three months. after that set period is up. (Read the fine print on your promised price guarantee). Once they start increasing your bill, it will be a constant fight to keep yourself happy with the bill until you cancel your service. If you call to complain or ask about the increased billing, you might get a reduction on the next bill 1 or 2 months later, with no credit on the extra $$ you have been paying for the previous month(s) bills before you called and made it known you were not happy. Again , even if they decrease your bill slightly ,once that occurs (You Will) see the increase again within 1-3 months, just as it was before you called the first time. If you let it go you can expect increase billing on a quarterly basis from then on. If you negotiate right away or 1 month or two years into it, they might reduce the bill a small portion to try to keep you on but the increase billing fight will not be over, it will last for however long you are still a customer, guaranteed. Once you do decide to cancel service, which hopefully, { by this warning/review, you NEVER sign up in the first place} but if you do, there are two other tip's I've learned after getting burned. # (1) Remove or cancel service at least 2-3 days BEFORE your designated monthly service dates starts for a new month. Call and confirm your service has been cancelled 2 days before the new cycle begins. Call at least one time after canceling service and make sure that is the fact that they have it down "as being cancelled". Get a reference number and an email confirm, confirm confirm ! Your billing cycle day starts at 12am of that day indicated on your bill. If you cancel after 12am be it only 1 hour ,1 day, 2 days into the next cycle, regardless ( You Will) be paying a full months bill for not cancelling before your service period begins. It's not going to be prorated or a partial bill ,it is charged in full, no negotiation. Good Luck with your attempt to discuss that with Spectrum. Don't be surprised if the last bill is higher after you cancel. # (2), If Possible, return the equipment to a Spectrum store. If you return direct to the store , you will receive a receipt that day for all of the equipment that you returned, and the store techs should have that information entered into the system quick. If you return by boxed mail , good luck with your additional Spectrum quest of working out the additional missing/ non returned equipment bills . Maybe they will believe your story and not add the cost of all of that $$$$ equipment to your last bill. You know , that Bill that is for an additional month of service that you never used because you cancelled service the day of or 1 day into the next month service month. I hope the time that I have taken to post about my wonderful Spectrum experience may detour as many customers as possible away from Spectrum. I utilized Spectrum for 2.5 years and never missed a payment I was charged extreme for services I never utilized (canceling on the day of new billing cycle) and placed into collections by this wonderful business. The Spectrum Business Mission Statement " Spectrum , We Care About Getting Our Customers". I encourage you to read the multitude of SPECTRUM reviews on this and other sites to see it is not just myself posting a not so wonderful review of this Charter communications / SPECTRUM customer review rate. Actually the worst service I have ever seen in my life. The reviews here are not joking. My brother and I arrived just to RETURN an already packed, labeled, and ready to ship box that contained our old router and modem and it took almost an HOUR to get called up. If you absolutely INSIST on going to this location, make a reservation because you will be waiting an absurd amount of time. There were 15 names lined up in the queue and only two employees. Each guest was already taking well over 30 minutes to be handled. Patricia, one of the employees was extremely unprofessional this day. Most likely she was overwhelmed with the sheer number of customers that she took off and stated that she was going on "lunch break" leaving just her sole coworker behind to fend for himself. An array of disgruntled "boo's" and "huuuuuh" erupted from the room as she left through the employee back entrance. She must have realized they were all directed towards her actions, because she came back after three minutes to begin handling guests again. All we had was a simple box to return. If you're looking to return your modem or router, don't do it here. You're better of getting it returned via UPS because that's exactly what they'll tell you here. What's the point of even offering the service of package returns to Spectrum if you're going to make a deal and hassle out of it? The entire time, Patricia made it a point to tell customers that they will be "phasing out" taking back modems and routers. Ok? That's not what your website says. Switching to Spectrum was the worse mistake we made in our lives. We switched to Spectrum for every single service we have. We have auto debit so they get their money timely every month. Our payments are set up on direct deposit. We have never been late on a payment because they take it straight from our bank account. We just called to add another cell phone line and purchase a new iPhone 12 ProMax went through the whole shabang. Once it was time to pay, we were told they could not process the transaction. After holding on for 10 minutes a representative came back with his supervisor and said that because our payment is DUE TOMORROW...NOT TODAY...NOT LATE...AUTOMATIC DEBIT they can't process a transaction with a bill due. A damned bill is always due, everyday for service. Again, not late. So if your bill is due on the first of the month and on the 30th of the previous month the vendor decides not to transact with you due to as they said "We have generated a bill and once we have generated a bill we can't transact until it is paid regardless of due date". What the hell is that. We are going carrier shopping right now. We are through with Spectrum. The broke into the market making themselves look real good but when the onion layers are pulled back they are full of it. read more

Cancelled the service in early December 2020 and returned the equipment according to their directions by UPS in less than two weeks. Have receipt with equipment serial numbers and more importantly a tracking number. Tracking shows equipment received by Spectrum on the day after it was shipped. GUESS WHAT?! Spectrum called me a couple of days ago and claimed they didn't get the equipment! Wow! They waited just long enough to hope I'd lost or discarded the receipt. This is very unscrupulous. What a con. New customer and very disappointed. Worst experience I've ever encountered. Miscommunication during initial service sign up. The package was not explained and I was set up with services I didn't ask for. Equipment that was shipped arrived incomplete and was on the phone with a rep for almost 2 hrs trying to clarify errors and arrange a tech to bring missing equipment. As if that wasn't a nightmare enough 11 days of active service, I received a bill for 2 months of services. I called to verify if charges were correct and explained I was not rendered services for 2 months but only 11 days due to missing equipment and physical line not being connected. Spectrum billing Dept said they had policies if services had not been connected or activated and If equipment was shipped( incomplete or not) there was nothing they could do.
