Peter is the best!!!!! Let me spill the tea. So my puppy ate my glasses and I needed glasses ASAP for work. Peter was able to schedule me to see the doctor right away. When I got there they were so friendly! All the paperwork was completed digitally on their iPad! I was so impressed!!! The doctor was amazing and finished my exam quickly. When I was ready to pay and leave, I found out The frames weren't covered by my insurance and I had to pay out of pocket. I was stressed!!! On top of that, it would take 3 weeks to get my glasses if we used the insurance. I didn't want to wait 3 weeks and was walking out the door to find another alternative. Peter stopped me at the door and gave me a breakdown of the fees and said he could get them to me in 3 days if I paid the rush fee. He convinced me and here I am now with my new glasses! Not only did Peter go above and beyond but he took care of me through the entire process. I am forever grateful !!! Also, this office uses text messages which is really convenient ! I come see Dr. Wu at this location for my eyes. During the exam, she's thorough at explaining all the pictures and diagrams as shes showing them to me. She's tries her best to understand my situation and gives me guidance on how best to improve and keep my eyes healthy. In the front, Danxia made my optometrist visit easy and painless. She goes above and beyond to help explain to me all the different lens types and options that I have for my eyes. I really enjoyed the experience at this location and would keep coming back just because of my experience with Danxia. After visiting many other optometry places, they are not the same. If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. This review is strictly about the staff, doctors are fine. However the staff here makes this one of the shadiest practices i have ever encountered, filled with some of the most unrefined staff. The story: I walk in during winter break to see if I can get a prescription for my contact lenses, since at my last eye exam less than a year ago the doctor suggested I go with a old prescription (5.25) rather than what I was newly tested to be (5.5). My old contacts were not allowing me to see as clearly. I simply wanted the prescription for 5.5 since I figured that information must be written in my chart. the manager tells me I need to pay for a new exam. I try to explain to him that I don't need a new exam I just simply want the prescription from my most recent exam that I already paid for. And I request to see my chart. He refuses to let me see my own chart and tries to tell me all this bs about how they are following all the laws of California ....bsbsbsbsbs. This entire time he raises his voice at me and talks to me in a condescending way. After he realized how rude he was, he apologizes for everything and convinces me to get another exam before jan1 even though I told him I can't use my FSA Flexible spending account till then. He told me he will just hold onto the cash and on Jan 1st I can come by and get my cash back and pay for it with my credit card. sounds good right?! NO, all lies!! My dear mom went back to pay my exam fee for me and he makes her wait 20 minutes while he fiddles around the desk and rudely ignores her. The first thing that he said to my mom before asking her how he may help her is "do u know how bad and rude of a daughter you raised? She came in here last week and was so mean to everyone especially this female staff." What the heck. first of all I never talked to a female staff that day, second of all HE APOLOGIZED to me for being rude himself over and over again. Then my mom is super confused so she said "I dunno what happened between u and my daughter but I'm just here to pay for her exam" He then takes my moms credit card, took one look at it and throws it back at my mom and tells her that she can't use a credit card and must use her FSA card, and then tells my mom that I "Forced them to get the exam before Jan 1st and that I am causing all these problems" R U KIDDING MEEEE?!?! He was the one that kept on apologizing and insisted that I get it done ASAP before the new year, and that he'd gladly do this favor for me. I didn't even need contacts over break. I would have been FINE getting my exam on or after Jan 1 ... At this point my mom patiently explains that a credit card should be allowed ...etc... He still doesn't let her and won't even give her a receipt for the exam. My mom is super angry at this point and she tells him that we will never come back. He then proceeds to chase my mom out of the store and yells after her " not only are you are rude and unrefined but so is the daughter you raised!!!!" I did not know any of this when I got a call from The manager himself. Playing the victim he tells me in this soft and weeping voice how my mom went in the store and yelled at him and all this bs about how she makes the store look bad and how he can't provide service to her if she does this one more time...is he delusional?!? He's the one that chased my mom out of the store like a maniac, The staff makes the store look bad, not the customers. In conclusion Ppl here are pathological liars and some are delusional psychos. stay far far FAR away. This place will burn right through you and will cheat you in every single way possible. If u guys keep doing shady business like this you will drive away all your customers. I will tell everyone I know about the disgusting service you provide. read more

This place is very disappointing. Especially the guy who answers the phone that has worked there for years. He is very arrogant and directs customers like he is the boss. I had a bump in my eye and wanted to see a doctor, and when i called, he told me it is best for me to go in and pay out of pocket without them taking the time to verify my insurance, then if after they verify, they can refund me. I said no, i would rather wait for him to call first. He was impatient and told me he will verify and call me back in 1 hour. 3 hours have passed, on a Friday (which means if i do not get in, i will have to wait till Monday). I called him back, and he said they have 2 customers and don't need anymore appointments today and so never checked my insurance. The only reason i waited is because he said he can get me in today and would call me back 1.5 hours later. After he heard i didnt want to pay out of pocket, but want to use my insurance, he purposely did not get back to me so i cannot go anywhere else on a Friday neither. Is this the right way to treat someone who has medicine needs? No it is not. I have heard many stories of how rude this guy is to other people, it is so disappointing that someone who talks to customers like this can still keep his job after so many years. read more

DO NOT GO HERE unless you want to be upsold by Dr. Wu and belittled by their receptionist. My child came in for an appointment for an eye exam since his last was 1 year ago. After Dr. Wu went thru the motions of the exam and checking my child's current glasses, she recommended that he needed new glasses. Apparently, my child's vision had gotten worse than what his current glasses are prescribed for. Of course we believed her and started the process of picking out new frames and lenses. We got his current prescription from her after we decided we wanted to shop around for other frames (this did not make the b*tichy front desk lady happy). She started giving us the full court press about how we needed to get the glasses here and now. Sorry lady, doesn't work with me. We walked out. When we got home, we compared her current prescription to my child's old prescription and lo and behold it was exactly the same. So basically she wanted us to get a new pair of glasses with the same prescription as my child's current one. Shame shame shame!!! read more

Horrific experience! I can't believe how much damage can be done when you are given the wrong prescription. Here is a summary of why I will never return!!! 1. Doctors come and go in this place and right there tells me something isn't right. 2. I was given the wrong prescription and it was a nightmare. They insisted it was correct and had another doctor there confirm it. It was me now allowing my contacts to settle!!! I took the prescription to another doctor and sure enough it was completely off. I had to pay for a second doctor because my insurance only covered the visit with them. 3. I was harassed when I asked for my prescription. A certain guy there was very pushy about getting my glasses and contacts through them. I came out of there so frustrated. I eventually found out that per the Board of Optometry you are to be given your prescription immediately on completion of exam. 4. There is something so shady about this place. They whisper to each other and I find that completely unprofessional. They seem to just sit there and stare...it's creepy to me. They are just flat out RUDE and very pushy about additional tests. Make sure you know exactly what you are paying and what services are necessary for your needs. Bottom line: Lesson learned - my eyes need to be treated with the best care and I will never trust a shady little place like that when there are so many optometrists available in the county. I visited this optometrist last year and had such a horrible experience that, as passive-aggressive as it is, I needed to provide a review. *Please note that this applies strictly to the Walnut Avenue location.* I came in for an eye exam for glasses, which was covered by my insurance, and for a contact exam that I had to pay $60 for out-of-pocket. The doctor himself was fine, as was the exam. My issue lies with his staff, who were extremely condescending, unprofessional and ruined my experience. As I walked out of the exam room and into the front office, I was barraged with sales pitches about their glasses, contacts, and contact solutions. They had pulled up a total of over $460 before I had even told them I wanted to order contacts from them. I (being a college student) did not have that amount of money on hand, and they wanted it upfront before I had even consented. I told the gentleman at the front desk that I wanted my prescription for my exam and that the other gentleman had put me down for a year's supply without my permission. Instead of being professional about it, and just stating that he would correct it, or ask if I even wanted the contacts, he told me that I was lying. This, justifiably, made me upset and I told him that I wanted my prescription and that did not want to order any contacts from them. I paid for my contact exam and he gave me my prescription. I used it to buy some glasses at another optometrist, and used up the remainder of my contacts prior to my exam at Spectrum. A few months passed and I realized that I am out of contacts. I called Spectrum for a copy of my prescription to be faxed/mailed to me (as I certainly did not want to go back there again) and the gentleman who answers stated that he would give me my prescription but that I owe a $40 restocking fee and they aren't going to give me my prescription until the balance is cleared. Apparently, they ordered my contacts on my behalf and as I never picked them up, they were returned to the manufacturer, at my expense. I ended up having to go to their Diamond Jamboree location and paying $40 to receive a copy of my contact prescription. $60 for a contact exam, and $40 for a copy of my (hostage) prescription. Any argument with them would have been futile, and frankly, if it cost me $40 to not have to return to Spectrum Optometry, I was willing to pay! Thankfully, I have had a much better experience at Sam's Club Optometry ($60 for 6 month supply!) and will be going there in the future. read more

My family and I have been coming to Dr Wu and Spectrum Optometry for over 10 years. My wife and I had LASIC post operation exams through Dr Wu. Also both boys also have the Ortho-K corrective lens through Dr Wu. I wish I had that when I was a teenager. Just got my annual eye exam and had a pleasant experience as always. I have been seeing Dr. Wu for 10+ years, and she has always been professional and kind. I really appreciate the time she takes to attend to my needs and concerns. She also does a great job explaining what changes to expect with your eyes as you age. The staff are very friendly, and they take many precautions to ensure that customers feel safe during these covid times. I had an appointment with Dr. Gun and he examined my eyes and then fitted me for a better contact than the ones I had currently been using. His attention to detail and friendly personality made my first appointment extremely pleasurable. I then called later in the day to place an order for the new contact lenses and Peter helped me place my order. To those who have gotten good service and don't understand the bad reviews: The basic problem with this place is that if everything goes normally, yes, they do provide acceptable service - great service, even. But if there's a need for customer service that addresses anything out of the ordinary, they lack the refinement and finesse which should be expected from a professional business. Plainly said, they do not understand business etiquette when it comes to handling problem issues. So you will no doubt be happy with service from them for awhile, until something unexpected comes along, and they inevitably piss you off by failing to handle it with grace. read more

I thought it was funny to see such bad reviews of this place. I suppose that's what compelled me to Yelp this location. I like the people here. I went here out of pure laziness due to my condo being down the street from this location and I could just walk here. They took my insurance, got me in the door within minutes and I put an order for glasses down. After a year, my glasses had been bent, so I came back. They asked if I wanted an appointment and I told them no, but they said they can fit me in within the next five minutes. I said sure. I got it, put an order of glasses down, and I was done. Update review: I realized that my sunglasses were too loose on my face so I had to go back yesterday after work. It was about closing time, but they were still kind enough to let me in. Once I explained to them that I needed to get the sunglasses refitted, they fixed it right away. I'm so blessed to have such great customer service! Thought I don't get my glasses here, this store is close to home so I went there to get a pair of nose pad without bringing in my eye-glasses. Chris was kind and offered to replace the nosepads FREE of charge - he wouldn't give me the nosepads for not wanting me to damage my glasses. When I went back to the store at 6PM on a Saturday it's closed. Isn't it close at 7:PM? Anyways, I went back the next day and only Avan was there. He charged me $5 for a pair of nosepads - materials only (I decided to do it myself). Well, it's fine to pay, but a pair of nosepad for $5 seems to be outrageous, especially the previous day I was offered the same thing for free at the same store! I was thinking about getting my next pair of eyeglasses here, but after paying $5 for a pair of nosepads, I don't think so. read more

Exceptional customer service. My mom and I had gone into this place because my mom's new frames, which she purchased at another store were too tight. We asked to have them adjusted and they offered the service for no charge. The young doctor who helped my mom was incredibly attentive, checking the frames several times after the adjustment and even offering to clean them. We were very touched! read more

Where once I was blind, now I see. These guys continue to impress me. Over a year ago, I went here after having a lot of issues with a different optometrist. The other guys got my prescription wrong twice. When I came here, I had a new (correct) prescription and new lenses in a day. THIS time was even better. After inadvertently crushing my previous pair of glasses, I found myself with no way to see (except for prescription sunglasses) at home (sick) on a Friday. I called them at 10am, had an appointment for noon, and by 4pm I was driving home with my new (great!) glasses. Everyone in there is extremely helpful, kind and SKILLED. My new lenses are shaped and fit the frames perfectly, and the prescription is 100% accurate. Not sure why they're getting bad reviews based on CS. They're bent over backwards to help me every time I've gone. I would highly recommend them. read more

This seems like a no brainer, but I've been to other places where they can't find your old data or take forever to look it up. Dr. Tran was receptive to my needs and thorough in his evaluation and recommendations. He was personable and professional. I was recommended to come to Spectrum Optometry by my insurance. I knew I was going to get a new pair of glasses so, I wanted to make sure the place I chose had an excellent selection of frames. Not only do they have an excellent selection of frames, but they have 2 locations that carry completely different brands! I was very satisfied with the selection!! The front desk staff were more than helpful at both locations and they were always very caring, professional and polite! Dr. Tran was my optometrist, and really went above and beyond to make sure that my prescription was perfect for my eyes. Not only did he take his time with me, but also special ordered a trial pair of toric lenses for me. I've been going here for the past 3 years. When I had my very first exam, they were patient with me as I peppered them with questions. I since have had my prescription change dramatically several times, and every visit has been quick and easy. The doctors there are available to answer any questions you may have. Attendants are timely and efficient. I just went back to try contact lenses for the first time. Dr. Tran was the doctor who helped me. He was very professional and friendly. Pradeep helped trained me in how to use contacts (put them in, take them out, etc.). He sat patiently as I tried and tried again for about 45 minutes before I successfully inserted the contacts. I now live in a different city, but I still come to this office for all optometry appointments. They also are moderately priced, and they take most insurance plans. read more

Doctors and staff have provided me great service and have once again saved me from spending too much $ without 1st thinking it through. They have always shown me patience and kindness. A very warm atmosphere to get an examination and buy your new glasses (sunglasses too). Every exam I've had has been professional yet relaxed. Though I have not purchased all my frames from them, they will still fill my perscription in a very professional and timely manner. The sales staff (men and women) are nice and considerate. They go out of their way for you without brown-nosing you. They get 5 stars because the level of service is excellent for a small business with limited staff, unlike larger chain stores. During my initial consultation, I had a female optometrist. She was patient and knowledgeable. I have had some seriously bad eye doctor experiences before, but I was impressed with the professionalism here. Considering I had avoided optometrists for years, I was relieved that as I asked my one million questions, I never felt rushed. The team even showed patience when teaching me how to insert my contacts (first time ever wearing them). I loved the frames I received, and the personality of the young man that assisted me in selecting them. This review is for the superb customer service we received from Chris N. I went to 3 other optometry places to get my sunglasses adjusted and none of them could adjust them correctly. Chris is extremely knowledgeable with frame adjustments. He took one look at my sunglasses and saw the problem. After several adjustments he was able to make them look level and straight.
