Extremely disappointed. My first lenses arrived chipped, and the replacement lenses were so heavy I couldn't wear them. Staff dismissed my concerns, claiming it was my frames, and never offered the thinner 1.74 high-index option for strong prescriptions. When I asked about upgrading, I was told I'd have to pay again due to their return policy. Poor communication, dismissive service, and no care for customer needs--I will never return. read more

I've been to this store twice in four years and won't be returning. The staff is rude and lacks customer service skills. Worst of all, they cost me my benefits by using them for something other than what I explicitly asked for. I had made abundantly clear that I wanted the exact same lenses that I had ordered from this exact same store two years ago (when they under different management). They didn't follow that request and instead, told me after I picked up my frames that their lab does not do the tint that I previously had and even tried to blame my insurance coverage for it. Had I known that they would not be able to fulfill my request, I would have gone elsewhere. Instead, they used up my benefits and told me after the fact. When I expressed the frustration to their optician, she was not kind or sympathetic in any way. On a previous occasion, their other optician told me that my insurance would cover what I wanted but they didn't carry the frames I was looking for. When I came back to the store with my frames in-hand, they told me insurance wouldn't cover any lenses at all. I asked the optician to call the insurance because there must be a mistake. The optician made almost no effort to resolve it and gave me the number to handle it myself. I was able to clear it up with insurance immediately after leaving their store. The front desk was also unhelpful and couldn't even print a receipt. Their optometrist is fine but overall, a very frustrating experience. I highly recommend going elsewhere. I have never had an issue with the staff and Optometrists. They have great customer service, and the assistants at the desk are really great and welcoming. There used to be an older gentleman there that was really charming, and great with adjusting my glasses to fit perfectly on my face. I believe he is no longer employed, but I could be mistaken. I then learned that the clinic was under new management, but I don't think the two are related. I also noticed there was a new employee I had not seen before, sitting in the eyeglasses servicing/choosing section. She was on her phone, and sat silently. She had an indifferent and detached expression on her face, and did not greet patients when the other staff did. We will name her "Apathetic". More on that in a moment. When I last went in for exam not too long ago [November 2024], I was assessed by the wonderful assistants and the Optometrist. Everything was great as usual, and an assistant helped me choose a nice pair of frames for my new prescription glasses. We will call her "Cheerful". Cheerful was super sweet and patient, answering all my questions while providing superb service. We went over costs, insurance coverage, and payment. I placed my order, and was excited for my new pair of glasses. When I was called and notified my glasses were ready to pick up, I went to their office soon after work. ​I was greeted warmly by the front staff, as always, and received my glasses. I tried them on, and they felt well made. However, they did need adjusting because they were too low on my nose, and too close to my brow and cheeks as well. I was directed towards "Apathetic" who did not appear aware of my need for assistance. She acknowledged me only after I greeted her and requested assistance. I explained where and how I wished to have my new glasses rest on my face, and she just stared at me as I adjusted my glasses up and out from my face. I hovered to where I would like my glasses to be, and she just...stared straight at me. There was a pregnant pause, and she squinted at me while stating "how... do you want that? I don't think it's possible with your frames, but I'll try". She tried 2 more times, but there was no real change. I was close to requesting "Cheerful" to assist me, but she was tending to another patient. So I just said "this is fine", thanked "Apathetic" and left. For context, my glasses are thick metal frames, and has the nose pads that are on metal attachments soldered on. Also, in order to identify which staff member (because I don't know her name and I mean this in the sincerest way I can describe her), she is American-African and appears approximately 35-45 years old. I understand we tend to have our bad days, but in the instances I have interacted with her or near her, she has been indifferent and bordering on what can be percieved as rude. We all have bad days, but if you are in a fielfs of work where customer service is a large portion of your duties, please learn to set that aside if humanly possible. I would in the school setting, so I get it. People can be rude to you at work, but I was nothing but polite and soft spoken when I interested with her. The clinic has always been 5 stars, but I am sadly forced to give them a 4 out of 5 solely because of the new employee. Additional follow up - after waiting and waiting for an update phone call, I finally called again to get an update since I was down to my last few "trial" pairs again. Found out my order had already arrived a week prior!!! No phone call, no notification ...... You would think knowing how upset I already was, they would inform me right away when my contacts actually did come. NOPE!!!! NOTHING. So sad Dr Tang has left this office. I've been coming here the last 6 years or so & had great experiences until last year. I was told my insurance would cover the entire cost, only to receive a charge a few months later & a call saying my insurance didn't cover it. When I called back they weren't kind or sympathetic in any way. They said the person who told me that no longer worked there. I understand insurance can be tricky sometimes, but the customer service was lacking. My husband goes to a much more modern optometry office at Woodbridge Optometry that I wanted to go to after this experience, but they don't carry the contact lenses I use. I came back today for my annual exam. My appt is at 12:40 & they call at 12:40 asking where I am. I'm running late, which is completely my fault, & let them know I'd be there in a few. I arrive at 12:46 & the front desk asks if they should still take me to which the others say yes. She then proceeds to tell me I'm late & they don't take patients after they're late for more than 10 minutes. I said it's 12:46 & I'm not ten minutes late. She acts like I am so I ask what time my appt was at & she says she doesn't remember but that I'm still really late. It was ridiculous attitude for being 6 minutes late & acting as though I broke their 10 minute policy. When she completed her intake & the peripheral exam it was 12:51. Dr. Tang is amazing herself, as well as Dr. Paul, but I just find the front desk woman's customer service quite poor with terrible & unwarranted attitude. I am trying to get prescription lenses for my Meta ray-ban glasses. So I checked Ray-bans website for an optometrist that could help me out and Irvine optometry was listed in the area. I called about a week ago and was told to come in because they need to give me info on the process and so today when I did I was told "our lab doesn't touch Meta's I don't know why". So between being listed on Ray-Ban's website and being told to come in to get the service done and then being turned down in less than a minute upon arrival I'm not super happy with the quality of this location. read more

Such a warm welcoming optometry. I don't regularly get my eyes checked, so it had been about 5 years since my last visit. The entire staff was helpful in explaining recommended exams and what the pricing would be through my benefits plan. All equipment and seating was kept thoroughly clean. Pricing was reasonable and Dr. Tang has a great Personality and was easy to warm up to. Even through there wasn't a pair of sunglasses I wanted during my visit, the team offers ordering ray-ban frames, that you can pick up at a later time. All honesty, I had to wait for my glasses outside of the normal 2 week period due to unexpected circumstances; however, I must say that I have never had a better pair of glasses! Dr. Vincent Cano was really professional, explained to me how the various exams informed him about the condition of my eyes, and was kind. He answered all of my questions and ultimately provided me with a pair of glasses that far exceeded my expectations! His assessment really addressed why my vision seemed to be deteriorating, and provided me with glasses that are nuanced (I have 8 different prescriptions in one pair of glasses). I am beyond grateful because this is the first pair of glasses that allow me to really see. The staff at Irvine Optometry are friendly and the environment is warm and welcoming. Irvine Optometry - The glasses I ordered. - Optometrists Near Me - Irvine, California

I had been a patient here for many, many years. I have a very expensive pair of glasses I bought here that needed repair (still a good prescription). Silly me thought since I bought them there they would try to fix them for me. New person at front desk was at least kind and said she needed to talk to her manager. Very small waiting room was pretty crowded, and I witnessed a young woman helping someone with glasses (she was not very nice to them). Sure enough, that was the "manager." Front desk person explained my situation, and manager looked at my glasses for less than 30 seconds and said they could not be repaired and that they were broken. I tried to show her an identical pair I have and told her it appeared to me no parts were broken and the arms just needed to put back on (no screws on these glasses). She wasn't even listening and could have cared less. This was an amazing office when Dr. Tang was there - she would have never hired a person who treats patients like this! I took my glasses yesterday to FLOE Optometry and explained the situation (they carry this brand). The young woman there could not have been nicer and fixed my glasses in less than 5 minutes (and would not let me pay anything)! The worse service ever from the staff and they will mix up your contact lenses power and NOT admitting their mistakes (and blame it on you!) First of all... 1. When my contact lenses trials arrived to the office they never bother to notify me. I had to constantly checking in by calling. It's funny because when I left the office after my exams day, they told me that they will for sure notifying me as they know I have travels coming up and in time crunch to get my lenses in time. So why make these promises at all if you don't intend on doing? And... 2. When they send out your lenses AND totally incorrectly marked on your Left and Right side of the contact boxes (different power and ax), they 100% did not admit the mistake. Instead, Joshua, the staff that called me upon my email inquiry, he said that he did not see how this is a mistake at all and nonchalantly told me that labeling is their complimentary service (what??!) You might as well not give me this "complimentary service" if you can't do the job correctly. I had to suffer dizziness for wearing the wrong side of lenses for a month or so till I learned that they labeled my lenses wrong! I guess it was also a mistake of mine for trusting their labels (who knew they are so incapable of doing such simple job. And really? Asking you to not mislead your customers is such a low priority to you?) On top of that, Joshua very impatiently telling me that he will be glad to send me the prescription NOW, and I should have known what my prescription is. I replied, I never received my prescription and shouldn't you give it to me upon sending my glasses and lenses?? And to that, he insisted that these days ALL the optometrists DO NOT give out patients prescriptions unless they request for it-- what a lie. Google "Federal Trade Commission Consumer Advice", as a consumer it's your right to get a copy of your prescription given by your eye care professional -- whether you ask for it or not (especially after you completed your contact fitting!) it's the Law. Who is this person dare to lie to the customer? The audacity and the attitude is unmatched in this day and age. Classic not admitting their wrongdoing and even trying to gaslighting the customers. Is this really how you conduct your business here? I'm floored. Never ever coming back and I'll urge my family and friends in OC area to STAY AWAY from this place. It's really a shame-- the real doctor here, Dr Tang, was decent and attentive during my office visit with contact fittings and glass exams... what a shame to have staff like Joshua, such a dead weight to the business like this. read more

There's plenty of parking in the parking lot. It's been my second year here and every employee makes everyone feel welcome. Dr. Tang is one of the best optometrist I've had. She explains everything thoroughly and makes sure I understand what's going on with my eye. She's very kind (just like all the staff here) and is knowledgeable on everything. I'm also very glad they take COVID precautions very seriously. They wipe down every equipment with alcohol, take your temperature to make sure you don't have fever, wear masks, and have hand sanitizer to use. They do have some choices for eye wear, but not a lot, but their selection is still pretty good and up to trend. I'd recommend Dr. Tang to anyone. When we moved to Irvine in 2016 and needed a whole new medical team, Dr. Tang was the first optometrist we visited and we never needed to search elsewhere. She's the most incredible professional and person! It's a joy visiting her for our annual checkups. Last year she noticed something "off" about my left eye; even though I'm young, she referred me to a retina specialist for a second opinion. Dr. Tang's hunch was right--I needed anti-VEGF injections. It been here in my neighborhood for 20 years and I was a patient back then. I went last year to get my new frames and I have had to have them adjusted 3 times. I have never had so many problems with a pair of glasses. So I had them adjusted today and even made another appointment after they explained I would be charged again for an updated Rx for contacts of $149. The explanation of the fees, contacts, discounts, rebates etc as I explained repeatedly the money was not an issue. As I am leaving they took it a step further. "Make sure you wear your mask", excuse me? As a doctor who is in the know, studies prove they don't work and if they do you have yours, right? Yours works. Not mandated, stupidity and ridiculous. Growing up, I have always dreaded going to the eye doctor. Something about sitting with your face in a machine with someone looking so close at your eyeballs has always made me uncomfortable. I now reside in NorCal so I have my glasses shipped to me from my original optometrist. As a result, I was never able to get my glasses fitted. I was only down here for the weekend so I meant to go to my original office, but due to more pressing errands, the office was closed before I was able to stop by. I stopped by here instead and the staff was so sweet. The two front desk/optometric assistants brought out an optometrist and he got my glasses fitted for me. He made sure that my glasses fit me perfectly before I walked out the door. I found Dr. Tang and team through my Vision Insurance and really just got lucky in picking the first name that popped up. From the outside, the office appears unimposing and small, but it has everything that you need. Starting with the team, Dr. Tang's front staff was friendly and walked me through the early examination. From an equipment standpoint, the office had advanced machinery, long gone are the days of eye dilation and the air puff, and a great selection of frames to choose from. The best part of the visit was Dr. Tang herself. She is incredibly knowledgeable in her field and takes the time to get to know you and understand your questions/concerns. I learned more about my eyes and eye health in 30 minutes than I have in years of going to different optometrists. I haven't seen an optometrist in over a decade and I'm really glad I came here. I always thought I didn't need glasses since I can see very well when looking far but Dr. Tang informed me that I'm actually farsighted and I would be a good candidate for computer glasses. For work I stare at a computer for almost 8 hours a day and took her advice and got some computer glasses. They've honestly made a world of difference. Dr. Tang has been my optometrist for over 5 years already. She worked very hard in transitioning and stabilizing my eyes out of ortho-k contact lenses in preparation for LASIK. The time and care she spent getting me adjusted made me feel confident in my decision and thankful I had her to guide me there.
