This therapist is bad news. The only positive thing was the concrete relationship skills, but I…read morehave to agree with the other Yelp reviewer that "he'll infect your day with his narcissism and apathetic lack of empathy or concern." In fact, I'll add that he uses your trauma against you and tries to trigger you, as punishment, if you aren't praising him and feeding his ego. He interrupts 95% of the time, to talk about himself, in the middle of your sentence. I brought some of this up with him, and he deflected, saying that "he tells it like it is," and that I should "be able to withstand more shame" from him. He is so shaming that it becomes abusive. So, he doesn't seem willing to listen, and the client will feel drained after a session.

Worse than one star. He is supposedly the Los Angeles/Hollywood guru on "anti abuse", fixing…read moreabusers, helping relationship but does nothing of the sort. He has an anger issue and does not listen. He was hired by my common law husband at the time who was being abusive and offered to consult with me "whenever I needed" and said he believed in involving me in my partner's recovery but then berated me and yelled at me on the phone (he did eventually quiet down enough and heard me tell him off and did apologize for his outburst, but was not able to rectify the situation he created). His partner Alice Laviolette is eqally misguided and neither one believes the abuser is in a pattern of addiction and must vow to stop abusing, period. They allow and allow and allow so maybe there is some (incremental) growth that is positive for the abuser in session/group but as soon as the abuser is back in the home, it's whine whine whine and poor me and I'm the one in therapy etc. Do not trust Marc to help with anything resembling "therapy".
