I'm over the moon with the progress my son has made in seven short weeks with Miss Olivia. My son was diagnosed with ADHD and we were in town for only 7 weeks doing Nuro feedback for the adhd. Kyra, and the Sound It Out team are incredible. I was advised to have my son evaluated by his preschool and quickly had a phone consultation with Kyra. She was able to schedule an evaluation with Eryn the following week and we started speech therapy the following week. Such a quick turnaround! Such a shame my first review on this app had to be a bad one. It started out fine , until it wasn't . Received a phone call by kyra stating that my child's therapist was dismissing her as she no longer needed therapy! I was so confused since therapy sessions had just started last month ! Soon after the phone call I received a text from the therapist" which I'll post here" stating she will dismiss my child due to my family's availability being inconvenient. My kids school hours and working hours are not taken Into consideration . I was flexible with her on a couple occasions. She did complain about the distance and I even offered to meet someplace at halfway point. Another bad point she would arrive couple minutes late and leave early. Do not waste your money ,therapist did not try to help they just provide referrals .waste of money and time. I called kyra as soon As I received text to let her know my child wasn't being dismissed because she no longer needed therapy she was dismissed because it was an inconvenience. Our 4 year old son has been working with "Miss Casey" for about 3.5 months now (twice a week visits to our home). We have been extremely impressed by the whole experience! One concern with starting speech therapy was getting our high-energy son to sit still and remain focused throughout an entire 45-minute session. Somehow, Miss Casey manages to tailor each lesson to his specific needs and/or mood of the day, keeping each session fun, yet effective! She is always finding new and interesting ways to keep our son engaged. Not only does our son love Miss Casey, but most importantly, his speech has improved drastically and is still improving more and more each day - friends, families, and teachers have noticed the huge difference in his speech. His confidence has also increased and he's no longer "afraid" to speak in front of his peers. We are so thankful for the Sound it Out team and couldn't be happier with our experience. I came across Kyra randomly in the park while she was working with a young client. My daughter was 5 yo and in she was telling me that her friends were making fun of her because of her speech. Her teacher was telling me that when she stand up to present in class that the other children were correcting her pronunciation of words or just couldn't understand which word she was trying to say. I found Kyra through YELP and she did not disappoint. She was very upfront with me that the sounds that my daughter was having a problem with is a sound that may not be spoken normally until the age of 7. She was agreeable to try a few lessons with my daughter to see if she could get the sounds. To my delight my daughter was able to learn the sounds very quickly. My daughter enjoyed working with Krya very much, even though it was difficult for her. Kyra was very adaptable to things my daughter wanted to do and able to turn "play" really into therapy. Kyra recommended that instead of the 60 min lesson we should only do 30 minutes (less cost for us!) She also recommended instead of weekly lessons, bi-weekly after a bit of time as my daughter was improving. Kyra is great!
