We stumbled upon this quaint little cafe while out for a Sunday drive, and it turned out to be a delightful find. Our server, Lilly, was wonderful--attentive, sweet, and witty, with a great sense of humor. We ordered the Smoked Salmon and Asparagus Benedict and the Egg and Cheese Croissant. There was a small hiccup with the Benedict; though Lilly requested the hollandaise on the side, the cook didn't get it right. Lilly immediately let us know as she brought it out and had it sent back. When the new one arrived, it was missing the asparagus, and the poached eggs were a bit undercooked, which was a bit disappointing--so one star off for the kitchen. Lilly made up for it by bringing a side of asparagus, and the smoked salmon itself was fresh and flavorful. The Benedict was served on a delicious crepe, alongside a unique side of cheese potatoes that looked like a slice of pie. With properly cooked eggs and asparagus in place, this dish would've been fantastic. I loved getting to try something I wouldn't make at home, so this dish still stood out. Very disappointed with the staff. Our server was extremely slow and it took over an hour to get two Crepes. I also ordered a late and told the girl I cannot have whole milk and tripled checked it was oat milk. I am paying the consequences now and super sick. When I walked in to use the bathroom the staff were all just standing around, meanwhile not only did we have to ask for refills but other tables around had to ask and they "forgot". I'm always a huge fan of Speed Trap. I order at least once a week for take out. Their GF crepes- especially mushroom Gruyere is to die for. It is hit or miss on portion sizes- sometimes I'll get two huge crepes, sometimes it's just one- depends on the cook. Baked goods are delicious- a lot of GF options. Coffee is fantastic. The Benedict Crepe ($17) was a cold folded crepe with a slice of ham and slimy, undercooked poached egg sitting on top. The breakfast was cold... not a little warm.... COLD. Nothing was freshly made and we waited 45 minutes to be served our food! My husband said this was the worst restaurant meal he's been served in many years! The teens that were serving were nice, but obviously didn't have any supervision. They were busy visiting and talking inside the building rather than helping customers. I've had several things here but my favorites are the breakfast, the cinnamon roll, French toast and white chocolate mocha. The staff is pretty nice. And the service is fast. Fast, but fresh! The parking could be somewhat of an issue. But if you circle the block a couple of times you can usually find a place. Or just park across the street and walk over. It's worth the trouble of finding a parking spot though, so just do it. Oh, on a side note they have a full bar and live music on the weekend. We were about to drive down south and wanted to stop for a quick breakfast. A quick search revealed Speed Trap as an option we might enjoy. They seem to have a few parking spots that are theirs, but most of the parking looked to be street parking. It worked out well for us. When you step inside you can feel the warmth and coziness. This felt like a local spot and likely not the "hot spot" the tourists visit. We looked over the menu and ordered at the counter. They seemed to have about three people working front of house and maybe two or three more in back. We were excited to try something new! We started with coffee and a piping hot cup of tea. They had a really nice selection of teas. The coffee wasn't a fan favorite. On the weekends they serve up biscuits & gravy with eggs and potatoes. The biscuits, gravy & eggs hit the spot while sadly the potatoes missed their mark a bit. Too dense and chewy for our liking. There was some confusion about what we ordered and our food arriving at our table. Dear Speed Trap, Politeness is good business. Rudeness loses money. Our party of 6 (5 out-of-towners and 1 local) at 8:30 AM on Sunday was scolded by your staff for pushing 2 tables together and opening umbrellas to protect ourselves from the beautiful October day. Our fatal flaw was that we hadn't checked in. Our first encounter with your staff member sounded like "First of all, you didn't check-in. Second of all, this is our busiest day and staff is supposed to open umbrellas and move tables. Now, what do you want?" Note: not a soul was in the outside area. Not. One. Person. The sign *demanding* that we check in was a chalkboard at ankle level. We left to enjoy a meal at Rosie's Diner where we received a warm welcome and excellent service. Maybe it's not a big deal to miss out on a party of 6 and likely $200 in food plus generous tips on your busiest day. You should consider that you ALSO lost a LOCAL patron for good. Multiply that by the people in that patron's family (x5) and you have lost potentially hundreds of dollars and business on your non-busiest days because of one moment of rudeness. This was a terrible experience. We waited nearly an hour for our food, only to have it come out cold after we had to check on it. When we asked that something be done, we were told by a waitress who was "on her day off" that no manager was present, that 20% off was all they could do and that we should expect to wait. Super cute coffee shop! This place seems to have it all. From Breakfast sandwiches to beer on tap. They even offer live music on Friday and Saturdays. This place obviously isn't just a breakfast stop. We ordered coffees and a breakfast sandwich (I think it was called the "speedwhich"). The scrambled egg and cheese sandwich on a brioche bun was excellent. I'd definitely recommend that. And you can't beat the $5.00 price tag on that too. Today was an unusually warm March day for Colorado so we were in the mood to get out for some brunch. We were on our way to another local restaurant when the Speed Trap posted a picture of their baked goods for the day. We immediately changed course to head here! It was pleasantly crowded and the employees were busy, but very friendly and attentive. I ordered the B's and G's (biscuits and gravy), my husband ordered The Breakfast (eggs, potatoes, toast and bacon) and my son ordered a fresh cinnamon roll. Everything was very obviously homemade. We had breakfast here this morning and it was so disappointing. First of all though, I need to say that the wait staff is so nice. It just seems like they don't know what they are doing. It was 30 minutes after we sat down before we even had coffee. The latte was excellent though! From there it took forever for our food to come out. I don't mind waiting for really good food- which it normally is here. But after waiting forever our food came out cold. Ugh- I used to love this place so much. I wish i got his name but there was a guy working the coffee bar this morning and he was so nice. We had ordered a few items to-go and they were taking a very long time. He felt horrible that we were waiting for so long so he gave us two free drinks for me and my mom. And then since they didn't have to-go forks he let us use some of their metal forks that we brought back. He was just an amazing human and made me laugh when i was having a bad day.
