Bennie's is a cute small café with a menu packed with tons of flavors. You order at the counter and they staff brings out your order. Fast and efficient. The price is very decent especially for the amount of food you get. The Breakfast burrito can probably feed two people. Their hollandaise sauce is absolutely amazing I couldn't get enough. Wow... my family and I been going regularly since it opened, we have spent thousands of dollar here over multiple years. But we've gone for the last time... We had noticed for the last months the quality of the food has gone down considerably, the eggs will have gray in them, the vegetables will be wilted, etc... but we have still gone and hoped for the best. But today, it wasn't the food that made us swear off this restaurant but instead, the service... for a long time there's been a young woman cashier who's unfailing rude and snippy-- she rolls her eyes or scoffs if we ask for a substitute or don't tip as much as she believes we should (it's counter service and we get take out). Usually we just ignore it and move on with our day. However today, her and her presumed boss-- the middle aged man in the apron who runs food, stepped over a line in an unbelievably unprofessional and way. I had ordered a simple breakfast sandwich and a couple of coffee drinks-- the young man with a pony tail at the register was clearly not in his skill set as he kept making mistakes with the order, but we made it through and he said he'd bring my order to our table. After over a half hour had passed, I went back to the counter and asked if my sandwich might be ready. It was on a side counter on the other side of the restaurant from where food is being picked up. The middle aged man in the apron huffed and puffed and said "I called your name"... he had not... He had called three other names, but not mine. Aside from the fact I was told my food would be brought to my table, I took the sandwich anyway and said it was cold but I'd take it anyway. The man rolled his eyes and asked if he wanted him to remake the sandwich. I said that would be great. Another fifteen minutes pass, finally the young woman brings it to me, I thank her, she says nothing but makes a snorting face at me. I let it go. Unfortunately the order is completely wrong.... There is no cheese, the vegetables I ordered weren't there, the ones that were were wilted. So I go back to the counter and politely tell them. This time the young woman start arguing with me, saying cheese is extra. I inform her, I understand and ordered it knowing it. She says I didn't, I say well maybe your clearly new register person didn't put it in. At this point the middle aged man comes up and snatches the sandwich out of my hand and tells me with a raised voice to "GO SIT DOWN". I calmly say that he needs to speak to me professionally, and then all Hell breaks loose, the young woman starts yelling and pacing, telling me to leave even though I don't have a refund or a sandwich-- at this point as two people are yelling at me, my 70's mother who i came who is aghast at the two people yelling at me when I've never even so much as raised my voice or ask for the sandwich I ordered, steps in and tries to gently ask them to be professional-- then the grown man and the young woman start yelling at my mother, who is a regular, who had come in three times already that week who has spent thousands of dollars at their establishment. When she says she's a regular the man starts calling her a liar, then the girl says that she's seen her then screams for the entire restaurant that my mother doesn't tip she tips ever. Single. Time.... Even though it's counter service. The man slams a sandwich on the counter, still yelling at an elderly woman and threatening to call cops on her. Long story short, we're not going back to a place that has not only poor service, declining food, but one that sees no problem with a grown man screaming at an elderly woman customer for the crime of asking for what we'd ordered. read more

Great menu with great food, reasonably priced, in a rather odd location--off the lobby of the YMCA! As you'd expect from the restaurants name, they had a large and creative selection of eggs, Benedict options. I had the avocado toast, eggs Benedict. It was delicious. The only negative was the toast was super duper thick bread that wasn't very toasted at all, just about 1.5" of soft bread. I would've really preferred a crispy piece of toast as the base layer of the dish. But the eggs were done perfectly, and the hollandaise sauce was delicious. Service was extremely friendly and nice. The ambience was clean and it seemed like a lot of locals hung out there. There were several people reading the newspaper as they ate. read more

This restaurant is hidden in a hospital and next to a YMCA, but don't let that steer you away. When you walk in the place is packed with people and it was hard for us to even find a seat! We ended up sitting at the counter which was great. Ambiance is like any breakfast place but teeny tiny. I came to leave a review regarding our experience at Bennies! Bennies should have nothing except all 5 Stars. I must admit I was taken back and quite surprised at the 3-4 Star reviews for this place. *Because the bread was 'to thick'. *Someone had to actually "wait" a bit extra while their food was being freshly cooked. (You can clearly see the entire staff working tirelessly). To be honest, I couldn't read any further. I was however, very happy and agreed 100% with every 5 Star Review! Danny, Greta and their entire staff work non stop. They care deeply about their customers experience. They are a small staff, and you can't miss their family oriented atmosphere. Do not be confused or put off by Bennies location! We were a little concerned we had accidentally come to a hospital cafeteria when we arrived? But on entering the lobby a lovely MODERN CAFE was revealed ! The espresso machine was in full swing cranking out special "house mixes " of exciting coffee creations!' Dad loved his Extreme Caramel but was also slightly jealous of my "chocolate covered cherry " latte . Dads breakfast BLT came with a literal "fruit mandala" almost too pretty to eat ? But too delicious to resist ! And my asparagus/tomato quiche was a slice of delight .... Actually a whole personal pie ! The only complaint I could conjure? The staff was SO UPBEAT & ENTHUSIASTIC about every menu choice .... they were no help in choosing among so many wonderful menu items? Discovered Bennies while searching for new places to have breakfast/lunch. The restaraunt itself is comfy, but fairly small, with somewhat limited seating. We arrived around 10:30 AM to avoid the crowd (smart!), which began arriving around 11:00. We easily found a table, but when we left around 11:25, it was PACKED! The restarunt is located in the same building that houses the Tri-Lakes Family YMCA, which likely accounts for its smaller size and large crowds around lunch time (that and the excellent food!). The service was outstanding. I ordered at the counter and the food came very quickly. I was amazed at how big their menu is! And every dish I saw them serve was gorgeous! Even though the Eggs Benedicts (hence, Bennies) seems to be their signature dish (the ones I saw on tables looked amazing), I ordered The Scrambled, with spinach/green chilies/Gruyere cheese (yay-nobody has Gruyere!). The eggs were perfectly prepared. I also loved the house-made bread and the cheddar potatoes, as well as the highly edible and tasty fruit garnish. It took everythink in me not to order one of their beignet trios or a muffin! The quiche looked amazing too. Next time! AND there WILL be a NEXT TIME! I confess, for the price, I thought the portions were a little smallish, but at least I didn't leave feeling stuffed. They were definitely not Black Bear Diner portions. Rather, they were healthy portions and I was completely sated when I left! I also know that this (smaller portions/bigger price tags) is becoming the norm in the current economy, so not meant as a criticism, just an FYI. So impressed by this unexpectedly delightful spot. Nestled to the left of the front desk inside the YMCA, I was surprised how removed it seemed from the hubbub of summer activities. The employees were extremely welcoming and helpful. I had looked at the online menu before arriving and had my heart set on crepes, only to discover they were sold out. The menu had numerous delicious sounding options and our server made several suggestions. I decided on "standard" eggs Benedict, only they were extremely good, with one of the best Hollandaise sauces I've ever eaten. I also had a smoothie that was perfectly blended and not too sweet. My friend ordered the Hawaiian flatbread pizza which also was yummy and had a tapenade base instead of a traditional tomato sauce. This is the most underrated restaurant in all of the Colorado Springs/Monument area. They serve breakfast and lunch (and have a full coffee bar) and are located in the lobby of the Monument YMCA. Don't let the location fool you as their space is bright, open, inviting and comfortable. I can vouch for the roasted chili Benedict (so flavorful and always cooked perfectly), the BLT (generous portion with thick bacon and served on the most wonderfully thick yet light bread that is made in house), the breakfast burrito (flavorful and hearty), and the turkey salami sandwich (also on their amazing bread with perfect proportions of meat and other delicious goodies). Also love their made in house pickles. Really, I can't imagine anything from this gem being less than delicious. The food is fresh, thoughtfully paired, and always filling. Whoever picks their fruit is a genius as it's always ripe and sweet. We are in love! When we first looked at this place, the location confused us a bit as we were in from out of town. That is the ONLY thing that was confusing. The service was amazing. Each staff member spoke to us and they were all super kind. The food was AMAZING. My youngest got the yogurt and it was delicious. The coffee is reasonably strong and several topping options available (milk, oat milk, sugar, etc..).
