On 6/23/25 I Bobby Falco drove my Kia Soul into SpeeDee oil change 1587 South Main St. Athol, MA to get an oil change. Their tech Sabastian, Dylan and manager Mike serviced my car. They also looked at my air conditioning, but the air conditioning was not serviced. I drove off their lot and onto South Main St. Athol to rt. 2 heading east to Leomimser, MA, on my return trip from Leomimser on rt 2 west the car had no power. I sat in my car on rt. 2 waiting for AAA, for an hour and 15 min. Then I received a called from MA state police, the state police officer said my car must be towed. State police called T.J. & Sons auto repair and towing 537 West Broadway Gardner, MA and they towed my car to 216-218 Mill St Gardner, MA Duval garage. Mechanic Cody Duval checked over my car battery and starter, all was good but when he checked the oil dipstick it was dry. No oil on dipstick then he looked under the car and found no oil drain plug was installed, no trace of oil discharge anywhere under the car. At that time Mr. Duval called and I inform him that I had an oil change at SpeeDee in Athol, MA. He called SpeeDee and spoke with manager Mike to explain the situation. Mike then asked for my car to be towed to SpeeDee in Athol, MA so it was on 6-24-25 by AAA. I called SpeeDee on that day 6-24-25 at 2pm and Mike confirmed it arrived. On Wednesday 6-25-25 I called and spoke to Mike he said he would get to it later that day. At 4:15 Mike called and said "I agree with Mr. Duval's finding, there is no oil or plug. Tomorrow my boss and owner Dave Sarnarnuky will be in and together we will come up with a plan to replace your car's motor." I asked how long it would take before I got my car back. Mike said "first he had to file a claim with their insurance company, with Dave his boss signing off on it. But all in all about 1 or 2 weeks and our licensed mechanic would do all the work to cut down on our expenses. Next day, Thursday, 6-26-25 Mike hadn't called so I called SpeeDee, Lisa answered and said "Mike couldn't come to the phone." After waiting all day I drove their at 4:15pm with my mom Anita Falco and found out Mike had the day off. Manager Jesse said that Mike has every Thursday off. My mom then called the owner Dave 978-618-7102 but only got his voicemail so we left a message with our contact information and the reason for our call. Dave did not return our call. Friday Morning 6-27-25 at 10am Mike called to say they would not repair the car because it wasn't towed to them first but my mom pointed out the State Police towed the car. Then Mike said any further conversion should be with his boss Dave. We have both called Dave repeatedly with no call back from him. Now some insight on me Bobby Falco. I am a 36 year-old man with cerebral palsy, my mom Anita Falco is a 69 years old retired school teacher, and my dad passed away. My mom has been helping with the back and forth conversations partly because of my speech and partly because I work daily. This is a huge problem with my independence as I now have no transportation. I went to SpeeDee oil for what is considered a simple oil change and now with no fault of mine my engine is seized and now I have no running car. It doesn't seem like anyone will help me. I would give NO stars!!! Ripping off customers! Went in for a inspection sticker and was told it wouldn't pass unless we replaced a control arm that would cost $600.00. Didn't give a rejection sticker, just said they would order the part. Well, mean time took it to another garage and passed an inspection with no problem!!!!!!! CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!! I had my car repaired at Speedee Athol MA. Weeks later, the parts they put in failed and some parts fell off the car, leaving me roadside. I had the car towed to another mechanic and paid for the repair all over again. Im out $350 for the repair and $200 for a tow. Ive called Speedee Athol dozens of times since and the owner won't return my call. Pretty bad when a business can't stand behind their work. I have had my car serviced at the Athol Ma. location for the last 5 years . Always had a good experience. On friday 07/07/2023 my check engine light came on so I stopped in to have it checked to see if they could help me out as I was leaving on wednesday 7/12/2023 for vacation. The reaction I received from the service manager was to show me his hand formed like a 0. He did not even make believe that he would try to fit me in. As a long time customer I was insulted that he did nothing to try to help. I went to a local shop and they will get me in on monday morning . After years of using this business my family and I will never go back! My husband brought his company car in for an oil change and air filter. About about two weeks later the car started bucking and he didn't think he would make make it home. I had the car towed to Nissan of Keene thinking the transmission was going. After a full diagnostic Nissan of Keene determined the air filter was put in backwards and inside down! He called Speedee from the parking lot as he didn't want to make a scene front of other customers and spoke with Avery because we think they should be responsible for the expenses. I always have an excellent experience at this service center. I am most impressed with Avery. She is incredibly friendly and efficient, and she makes me want to keep going back. I live in Swampscott MA, but always make a point when in the area to go to to SpeeDee Oil . The work is done efficiently and no big sales hype trying to get you to do more work, or buy something. The waiting room is comfortable , and there is always a friendly conversation going on between customers and Tina. Avery was a pleasure to speak with regarding my vehicle. So you have this incredibly polite, and even charming bunch of service people, who listen and care....And then, they do a great job of servicing your car, and getting you out the door! These people love working on any car! The day I was there, they even worked on an Audi! I was impressed! Yah, for those of us who have older cars, it really, really helps to have car service that is honest and just plain nice! We also get our cars inspected here, and quite simply, and honestly, it is stress free and Amazing! It is worth driving to Athol to have service done at this particular Speedee! Thank you DAVE, et al! My engine light was ON and I also needed some brake work done, along with an oil change. I was a little cranky about the wait, I'll admit. But after I thought about it, realized that they were just trying to do the job properly and it wasn't exactly an easy thing to diagnose and correct. Dave did TRY to explain it all to me, but that was sort of futile, because I really do not understand much about cars. Initially we had (prior to bringing it into Speedee) per the auto part store, replaced an Oxygen Sensor, but THAT apparently was not the problem at all and our replacing it may have actually worsened some related issues. Dave apparently properly diagnosed whatever the trouble really was and it involved timing and all sorts of complicated, possible issues. He used a reasoned, process of elimination approach, that saved on costs. And of course, it isn't their fault if they need parts and have to order them. SO, after a couple days and some separation anxiety, I had the car back (YAY) and the light was off and having driven several hundred miles, thus far has NOT come back on. It seems to be running better and more efficiently and safer for the public at large, now that the brake work is done! The costs were very reasonable. I do think they try to get the job done right and they are so knowledgeable that, if you're anything like me, it won't make a bit of sense to you, BUT the job will get done, right! :-) read more

Staff are very helpful, prices are fair, and they have a fairly comfortable waiting room. If you have a question, the staff will go out of their way to try to answer the question or get you the answer. They don't pressure you into buying extras that you don't really need, but will tell you about the recommended services at the proper times for your vehicle. Other places I have been to try to tell you that you need everything extra done. Most of it I will do myself when the weather is warmer anyway. I have been coming here for a few years when I don't have time to do my own oil changes, and will give them the business over Jiffy Lube any day. read more

After the Overhaul, this place is a great place! The staff has got to be the most polite, helpful and wonderful staff I've ever encountered. Before you spend any money, they go with you for a test drive so they can see/hear what you are noticing. Then, they also take it in and give it a free look over and let you know what's wrong with the car. Unlike how Speedee used to be (before the overhaul and new owners and staff), they don't make up problems, and they don't tell you "Yes, there is an issue" when there isn't. Also, if you only have one vehicle, and you can't stay there due to previous obligations, the staff will personally drive you home and if need be, pick you up! I have never had such a pleasant experience with any mechanics until our Newly Overhauled Speedee took on some major changes. The Staff cares about you. Like, really cares! Amazing! Go here if you think you have a problem. If they find you don't have a problem, they will tell you instead of making up things to get your money. The customer actually "comes first" here.
