I rate them one star cause there's no way to give them zero here's my story I've been a loyal customer at SpeeDee Oil Change on Hatch Road for years, taking in multiple family cars since they opened. On my recent visit with a brand-new Cadillac, they drained the oil and then told me I needed to replace the oil drain plug for $15. This struck me as odd, since I've owned 15 new cars and never once been told that before. I questioned the manager, but she insisted it was necessary or at least highly recommended for safe operation. Later, two Cadillac mechanics confirmed that my plug was in perfect condition and only ever needs replacement if damaged. The part itself costs around $1.25, so being pressured into a $15 charge felt dishonest. When I called back, the manager acknowledged my loyalty but said the general manager refused to issue a refund. To me, this looks like a predatory upsell and not genuine customer service. After years of trust, I can no longer recommend this shop. read more

That already made a great impression -- it's not every day someone takes the time to recognize a returning customer. He mentioned their synthetic oil is guaranteed for 7,500 miles, which gave me peace of mind and showed he knows his stuff. I was in there two weeks ago for an oil change and i have nothing but good things to say. I arrived slightly before opening and staged my vehicle outside the bay doors, behind another vehicle who beat me to the first spot. Shortly after arriving, David came out and began greeting the vehicle in front of me within a few minutes he was at my vehicle greeting me and asking about the services I would like. I requested a full synthetic oil change and the engine cleaner. After David took my information I was pointed in the direction of the Customer waiting room where there was coffee and hot chocolate. Upon entering the waiting room I was greeted by Fabiola who then also reiterated the complementary coffee and hot chocolate. I briefly chatted with Fabiola when David summoned me to show me a few items that should be addressed (filters, cabin and engine air). I agreed to the replacements and shortly after my vehicle was done. When it came time to pay, Fabiola suggested I check the website for a coupon, in which I did and was able to knock a few bucks off the price. Which is greatly appreciated. So, now 2 weeks later there are no issues occurring and my vehicle is running smoother after a long awaited oil change and filter swap. Thanks for the great service, folks! read more

My oil drain plug is on way too tight, i tried doing the oil change myslef after getting an oil change at speedee last and now i cant get it off not even with my impact. i went there to ask them to loosen the bolt for me and they said no. I would not recommend them they dont seem like they know what there doing ive seen other people have had problems with this place. just stay away they are expensive too anywhere else is better read more

The convenience of it near my home, I've been a regular at this SpeeDee location over 5 years now for oil change service. I believe must have had change in ownership 2 times already thru the years as I can see different techs come & go and can see different person in charge. This place is a hit & miss to me, depends on time and day I come. Some days really good service, while some not too good. As any other businesses, price keeps changing & increasing. C'est la vie! That's the world we live in sadly I guess. I do like that they give me some discount coupons as a regular. Since last year, I now see they have the Kiosk system for the Five Star thing where I get to earn points for more discounts and such by entering my phone#. Thought that's cool! read more

This location breaks things while doing services then change the notes to state that components of the job were broke prior. Then say they can do follow up job and get you to come in another time. Then when you come back they say they cannot do the service because they don't have skilled mechanics that they have confidence in. They just hope you don't comeback to avoid their botched job and unprofessional services. -Did the standard oil change. Upon picking up the car they advised that they broke the oil pan thread and had to glue the bolt back on , and that next time oil change is due they can then replace the oil pan or heat recoil the threads. -Brought it back for next oil change as they advised, and they then stated that the threads were broken before and that they have a mechanic but they are not confident in their mechanic working on the car and they cannot fix what they broke. Victoria called and introduced herself as the manager lying to me telling me the threads were broken prior to them doing the oil change, which was a lie, the car wasn't leaking oil, and the mechanic told me that he broke the threading putting it back on too tight and had to glue it. She said they don't have a mechanic that can perform the job of a oil pan replacement or re-threading. I was told that Mario is the GM and he will call me. She then told me she was a cashier and not a manager, so she lied again by misrepresenting herself. This place has no integrity They break things They flat out say they having mechanics working on cars that they don't have confidence in, showing furthermore that things are broken while doing common jobs. No integrity at all Thieves predators Can you imagine the number of people they rip off and take advantage of daily? ...The elderly, disadvantaged population, people with no auto maintenance knowledge. She explained everything including pricing and deals to me as well as recommended what type of oil change would be best for my situation. I've had a very bad experience with this company. So, be careful of this happening to you. They did several oil changes on my Honda Accord and they input incorrect mileage from the odometer which then was reported to car fax. I found out my car is worth thousands of dollars less because of their error since it cause a milage discrepancy I brought the car there to show them they made a mistake. The manager said he will have the errors corrected/removed within a week. And he has done nothing to help. I went back again after three weeks with the car to find out why they didn't do anything, and the manager wasn't. I left messages sent emails and he's not communicating back to me. He is ghosting me. When I went back the employee there said he couldn't do anything but went on to say that sometimes they can't see the mileage and can't go check in the car to check because of privacy which makes zero sense. So he implied the make up the mileage... So now I have a car with a bad car fax because of their error and decreases the value of this car considerably. I bet I am not the only person this has happened to. I'm very frustrated with this situation. I'd give them a zero score if I could, I'm consulting legal advice. read more

Have a seat, this one is going to be long. I will start by saying that I'm giving this 1 star because the girls who work the front area are fun, and always pleasant. Despite how nice they are, this place is an absolute joke. I had a 2004 KIA Rio that I brought in because I was hearing some noises. I was second owner of that car, and had it for 14 years. I KNEW this car. I informed this place that I was sure one of those noises was my alternator, and that there was another noise coming from under the hood that I'd never heard before. So, they, of course, did their basic diagnostic, and informed me that my brakes needed to be fixed, but could not find the cause of the noises. I stood my ground. No. It's not done. Longer story short - they finally found the weird noise under the hood, (had to get new compressor) and after 2-3 weeks of me insisting something was wrong with the alternator, they found out that there was something wrong with the alternator, after I had them stand next to my car on a rainy day, with lights, heater, engine going and hear the noise. Why couldn't they have done that when "diagnosing" the car? I had also informed them that every time I was in idle at a stop, the car would shake, and it got worse when I turned on the a/c. They went to the typical issue: engine mounts. Granted, I did know that I had a cracked mount and a broken mount, but told them it didn't shake even with that problem. I told them that I suspected another mechanic had done something, and that it was probably something not expected. (My very 1st review on Yelp was about that other mechanic - who is now out of business.) LONG story short - after several sets of mounts, which Mario insisted I needed harder mounts, not softer, he declared it was fixed, and told me that my car would always have "some shake" because it was old. NO. Now, from the very start, I asked them to please go over the entire car with a fine toothed comb. I told them more than once about my suspicions that the other mechanic had done something, and I was pretty convinced, (because I KNOW MY CAR!) that it wasn't the typical issues. They refused to accept that. Eventually, I moved to Ventura County, took my car to the KIA dealer, and LO AND BEHOLD, I was right. It was NOT because of the engine mounts. It was a bolt on the catalytic converter (or carburetor, forgot now which he said, but it was one of those starting with a 'c' - I was just too relieved that it was finally being fixed, CORRECTLY) that had been loosened. Guess what? NO MORE SHAKING AT IDLE or with A/C ON, NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT. Just as I said! Also, during all of this - and I mean this went on for months on end - Mario hardly EVER called back when he said he would. I was always chasing him down on the phone - it was frustrating. I even let him know how irritated I was about that when I asked him for a private meeting. He KNEW it was a sore point for me, but all that happened was that the next time he needed to call me back, he did right away, and then he was back to not calling when he said he would. I had also got a new O2 sensor from this place, that had to be replaced again because it was a crappy O2 sensor and failed on the way down - I hadn't even had it a year. I had to pay for yet ANOTHER one. Absolute garbage place to take your car. Do not waste your time nor your money - because they DO NOT listen to you. I will give them 1 more star for getting my brakes done right, and the shocks and axles done correctly. But be prepared for them to ignore you, your experience with your car, not call you when they say they will, and leave your car in their lot for days on end before they even think about starting to look at it. I called their corporate office to tell them that it wasn't the engine mounts, and corporate is just as dismissive as this place is - just that alone should tell you everything. This place should reimburse me for all of the money I put out for NO REASON because they wouldn't listen to me, the first time I walked in there. In lieu of that, I'm warning all of you, go anywhere else. Do not give them your money. read more

Previously I left one star for the fact that they would not honor an expired Groupon, when the value I already paid is still valid towards the purchase of an oil change. I called and spoke with Mario and Angelica, who both were very nice on the phone, though me "being taken care of" was essentially me paying the same price again for one oil change. Needed an oil change for my Honda and I had a 10 off coupon so I decided to come here. I came right when they were opening up and they had me pull in right away. You could see they were getting a delivery and had some stuff in the way but the guys moved it right away so they could get started. Everyone was nice and definitely following covid protocol. They even reset my oil gauge inside the car and made sure to put both a car seat cover and floor mat which I really appreciated. Check out was easy I just pulled out, walked inside and paid. I ended up getting my air filter changed because they pulled it out and showed me just how dirty it was. They didn't have it in stock but got it ordered and delivered in less than 20 minutes. I went in the get an oil change and on the 2nd day of getting my oil changed i take my car to work and this happens. I was stuck in the backroads in the middle of the night my car was making a super loud noice and i kept getting the notification on my dashboard that my oil was low and to turn off my engine! Which i dont understand how that was happening if i just had my oil changed 2 days ago and on the day before i didnt drive the car anywhere cus i was off that day ! Complete mess ! and my car was leaking oil like crazy i had to call AAA to get my car towed back home cus it was undriveable ! I took it back the next day to speedee (got it towed there) they helped me out with the problem it seems to be fixed but I definitely wont be going back . They told me it was a minor issue which is not true because it was smelling like something was burning when i tried getting back home last night and also there was a trail of oil in my drive way and on the road when i took off for work that day there was oil literally everywhere. I got this car financed i will not jeopardize my car . I took my Subaru in a couple days ago because I was hearing some noises from my front tire. Tire shop I went to a while back bolted my lug nuts on crooked which caused the struts to break off. The mechanic and the boss at this location both took care of my car. They changed the rotors and break pads for both axils, swapped out my old suspension and replaced the broken wheel struts. My car drives great now and I couldn't be happier with the service I was granted. Thanks to the both of you! read more

Boy can I tell you , I had an oil change here a couple days ago and what a shitty place to get it changed. Oil was spilled on my engine and they tried to clean it up as quickly as possible. The hillbilly looking white dude looks like he's just wasting time. White smoke was coming out my hood when I popped it open and damn , you could see the spills and splashes of oil everywhere. maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but fuck. I had no AC in my van, took it in to SpeeDee enticed by coupon discount. First AC check told us we needed "other part" of inspection which would cost EXTRA $123.86. We bit. When we got car back THE AC went out within a few hours. We took it back to SpeeDee and we were told, after a LONG all-day inspection, that we had a "problem with the thermostat sensor and to order another would cost us $100 deposit, and $95 for this current diagnostic. I bit... Sensor added, charged ANOTHER $303.54 (I'm pretty sure the deposit I originally paid of $100 for thermostat sensor order was never applied to final bill of $303.54. But I bit and paid the full 303.54. If I could give them NO STARS I would. I feel so ripped off. I spoke with manager, Jesus, this afternoon. He patiently explained his side. At this point I'm not sure what or whom to trust. Can't honestly say I feel much different after speaking with the manager. But at least he made an attempt to justify the charges. Very unlikely I will do business with SpeeDee again. UPDATE 9/2/22: Upon further investigation by mechanics that DO NOT work for SpeeDee, I was told it was a simple fix of replacing the AC fan blower motor. A quick fix was performed by my new mechanic and now we have beautiful cold, strong, air conditioning. Also, about that ECM computer that SpeeDee tried to sell me... I was told by numerous other mechanics that do NOT work for SpeeDee, that the expensive ECM computer had nothing to do with the AC, and my van had no symptoms of needing a new ECM computer SpeeDee tried to sell me. read more

Came in for an oil change and tire rotation. Cost was a little over $100. Higher than I usually pay, but I needed to get it done, and this place was close to where I was at. Service was slow, but that is not what bothers me. What bothers me is that on check out, my bill lists the services they completed. It included the additional services of vacuuming out car, washing the front window, and checking that air pressure in the tires. My bill states that they inflated my tires to the manufacturer recommendation of 35 psi. Non of the additional services were done. Window was not clean, no vacuum and tires were still under inflated. I didn't go there for those "additional services". But they might of kept me coming back. It bothers me that the said they did not something, when they did not. What else are they not doing??? Around $450 dollars, two days later the check engine light showed up I check the oil and I found out that they didchange it, I check the air filter and it was very dirty. They didchange it esther. Very dishonest. Last week I went to get my AC repaired and told me they had to replace a small part and had to order the part and be available within 1-2 days. I called them 2 days after and said they threw away my information, in other words they weren't going to call me. I went to a different honest mechanic and diagnosed my car and it was a completely more serious issue, and had NOTHING to do with the small part they wanted to replace. I was greeted with a bad attitude by the woman who walked to my truck. She didn't want me to use my coupon and promo code that I saw on a TV commercial. They then called me 20 minutes later to report I needed to replace my valve cover and it would cost over $300. I thanked them but did not have them repair the valve cover. I took it to an honest mechanic down the street and he told me all I needed was a new cap on my oil tank. I bought the cap for $6 at O'Reilly's Auto Parts and my problem is solved. Not only was the customer service horrible, but they tried to rip me off and charge me for repairs I didn't need. I went to speedy oil change on hatch road in Modesto because my car wouldn't pass a smog I spent 989 dollars and they said they changed 6 spark plugs the intake manifold. well after taking my car to a reputable shop I found out they only changed 3 of my spark plugs. And they bent the intake manifold gasket putting it in how they did that I don't know. There crooks and there manager Mario is the one making sure him and his mechanics rip you off. read more

This place sucks i took my truck for an oil change and while i was waiting they told me that i should change my ac belt because it has some cracks and i was like yeah go ahead and as soon as i got home i noticed that my truck was making a very loud noise so i went back the next day and they were like oh yeah the belt tensioner needs to be replaced and they wanted a lot of money so was like my truck wasn't making the noise until you guys put hands on it and now i just found out that my truck is leaking oil from the oil filter so i hope is an easy fix now im gonna have to find a good mechanic to work on my truck !! read more

I went in for a smog check. There was only one car in the shop and so I anticipated a quick service. In 40min I watched 2 cars get there oil changed and in between those two changes 6 guys walking around joking, hanging banners, etc. I asked an employee how much longer I'd have to wait and he said it would be quite a bit longer because they were busy with the one and only vehicle in the shop. So your telling me out of the 6 men in your crew only one can do a smog test? And none of those guys have the ability to free him up so he can perform it? I decided to do business elsewhere since I had to go to work... It was like watching CALTRANS operate. I give a bonus star for being inexpensive though. I honestly would have been ok with a wait.
