This last visit was weird... the tech Yan was very friendly and helpful, and helped clear up an error but for whatever reason the other employees (maybe supervisors) were very rude to him. As a manager myself , you do not coach your employees in front of customers or other employees. The tone and verbiage they were using was very belittling. Do better. read more

Complete waste of your time. These guys run around like bumbling idiots. It's like watching Dumb and Dumber. They claim 15 minutes. You better carve out an hour and be prepared to have every bit of self civility challenged while dealing with these people, and their lack of respect of your time. I showed up today and was first in line after one of the vehicles, currently getting oil change, were complete. Employee comes out, has me move to a different bay. Waited another 20 minutes to have them take two vehicles who arrived 10 and 15 minutes after me. I spoke to the "Supervisor" who apologized and said he thought the truck getting an oil change and rear end service would finish first. "What an idiot". My company asks that we use the Valvoline franchise for our work trucks. Not anymore!! I encourage you to not give these people your business. Went Sunday Dec 14th and had a very disappointing and frustrating experience with Valvoline. After servicing my vehicle, my car began having problems that it did not have before. My car was running fine before this and after it had a massive leak. I had a mechanic look at it and he stated Valvoline put in an oil saver that messed up my oil pan completely. I brought this to their attention and was told to file a claim. Valvoline stated that they would conduct another inspection as part of the claims process. However, without ever performing that inspection or contacting me for follow-up, they simply denied my claim. There was no transparency, no explanation, and no opportunity to actually have the issue evaluated. This feels extremely unprofessional and dishonest. If something goes wrong after their service, don't expect them to stand behind their work. I trusted them with my car, and when there was a problem, they completely dismissed it. 1/4/24 I received a call back from the aerial manager and hung up feeling more frustrated and disappointed than before. He was unprofessional to say the least. The manner in which he spoke to me was disrespectful and dismissive. He was not interested in what I had to say. Please be aware and take your business elsewhere. Update: The situation escalated when we encountered Josh, the aerial manager, whose demeanor was rude and unhelpful during our interactions over the phone. Initially, he seemed willing to assist but abruptly changed his stance, citing disagreement with a previous Yelp review as the reason. Throughout our ordeal, Valvoline's team has exhibited a lack of consistency, often contradicting their statements and leaving us confused and frustrated. This erratic behavior and lack of accountability mark this incident as one of the worst customer service encounters my wife and I have ever encountered. I urge prospective customers to reconsider visiting Valvoline based on our distressing encounter. Dropping a star due to the miscommunication within the "Call center" and the salesman today. I made this my go-to oil change center since Central Valley Hyundai & Volkswagen service center lacks every aspect, ditched their 2 hour oil change and incompetent service bay helpers and came here. Don't like giving crap review based on ONE incident, because they last 2-3 times have been nothing but great service and consistent quality from start to finish. I now live in the Bay Area and I would legit wait to get my oil changed only at this location. Today was disappointing. Before I come to this location I was advise to call ahead and make sure they have my oil in stock. So that's what I did, I called and spoke to Dereck, I was quoted 89.99 (cool I paid around that price last oil change) and mentioned to Derek I downloaded the $7 coupon for full synthetic off the 120 McHenry ave. Cool I'll save some bucks. Derek then tells me he has a $25 coupon I can use for 89.99 ($90 give or take) After mentioning to the greeter I called in earlier and I'm here for the full synthetic oil change and I had a coupon. Also I've been here before, so they would have my information. After checking out I was told $110 give or take. Which set me off because i said I had a coupon so that should bring it down to about $75-80 bucks right? Greeter then tells me they can't honor the call centers price and have to charge me $110. Under the impression my total will be around $65-70 with the coupon. Again set back because I've never paid more than $100 for an oil change here. My tires weren't checked, but was marked checked on the maintenance checks. So I'll have to do that myself when it should have been done in one visit. I know it was a huge miscommunication within their "call center" and business but I think to eliminate that consumer experience this should be addressed, because Brandon and his crew are great. read more

My daughter, who knows very little about cars, took her car to Valvoline on McHenry for an oil change. When they were done, they told her she needed to take her car to the dealer. They told her the oil drain plug was cross threaded. She had a small oil leak. It took me a couple days to finally look under her car. The cause of the oil leak was not a cross threaded drain plug. They had tightened the drain plug so hard it crushed and split the nylon washer. I was able to fix it with a two dollar part from O'Reillys. read more

Let me just say. I have a 2023 Nissan Rogue. It is cheaper to take my car to Nissan on McHenry Rd. But, I will pay more just to come here. Why? Because they do a great job! They have the best customer service and they are genuinely nice and helpful. After my coupon, I paid $157 for a full synthetic oil change and a tire rotation. If I went to Nissan, I would of paid $120 for all of that. But, I will always come here. If you bring your car here, you will have a great experience, I promise you that and guarantee. I did a radiator flush and left here overheating. Came back, nobody would help me and said basically I'm screwed. Called customer service, which got ahold of them, and made them make it right. Person who said was the manager was just an employee. This place needs more professional staff. read more

Went there for a fully synthetic oil change on my 2013 dart. My car takes 5w- 40 and they put 5w-30 into my car. My car started having quite a few transmission related issues due to this. It's okay now that it has the right oil but I won't be coming back here ever again. They also offered to flush my transmission fluid but didn't even try to look down the hole to tell me how much is left when I asked them to check. no thanks. You guys lie about your pricing on conventional oil changes just to get people to come in also, didn't like that very much either. read more

The workers are friendly but have terrible management, their manager had them running around bay to bay to the point where they couldn't work consistently or correctly on one car. They had to ask me the same questions multiple times due to management having them go car to car instead of focusing on the one they were working on. It ended up taking me over an hour to get of there and when I left I decided to check my car due to them taking so long for any damages or noticeable changes and i'm glad I did. I then located two loose lug nuts (they had done a tire rotation and oil change) and a nail in my tire! I instantly backed up to talk to the manager which he then informed me that "they didn't see a nail while doing the tire rotation" even though he personally had just put the tires back on himself and inspected before I left. I questioned how he did not notice when doing the rotation but noticed in seconds when just looking at it with myself. I feel that this is a lack of due diligence and overall customer service, even if the nail did not enter the tire while under their care they could of at least told me about it since the nail was so obvious. This is what leads me to believe it happened while they worked on the vehicle and they just did not want mention it in hopes that I wouldn't notice until later. The manager also mentioned to me that he was on lunch so "it was not his issue and when he is on lunch he doesn't make sure his workers due the correct work". This left me baffled so even though I do visit Valvoline I won't be visiting this one anytime soon and will be hoping something is done about the manager on the closing shift! read more

I called Valvoline before buying a Groupon to ensure I bought the correct one for my car. They looked up my car and told me to buy the full synthetic Groupon which was 62.99. I took my car in to get my oil changed and they were only going to credit $42 of my Groupon towards my total cost. LESS than I paid for the Groupon in the first place. They said they can't apply the $102.99 towards my service because the oil my car takes is European. I asked why they didn't tell me that when I called before buying it in the first place and they said their customer service department is corporate who doesn't know what they are talking about. I told them their company gave me incorrect information and they still need to honor it. In the end they covered the $62.99 I paid for the Groupon but not the $102.99 they were supposed to cover. They lost a customer. I've been going there 10 years. read more

Went in today 8/27 for an oil change, not only did it take forever. But come to find out when I got home the guards underneath were not properly re secured after the job was done. Called to try and get some sort of reimbursement but all they offered me was to bring the car back in so they could take a look. Wh was not convenient for me being that they are not close. I came to get my car serviced on 12/21 before Christmas mind you. they did an oil change, a radiator change , and a transmission change . two days later my transmission failed! . I have never had any issues with my transmission before coming here . I had to get my car towed from my work and took it to the dealer because they didn't want to look at it. I submitted a claim gave all my reports from the dealership stating that it was their fault ! they still denied my claim , these people are crooks ! they don't take responsibility for their negligence and nothing is ever their fault. as soon as a cat is in your garage it's 100% your responsibility ! and its your job to make sure that you take care of the customers. Allow me to STRONGLY warn you against letting these people touch your car. I went to this location on April 28, 2023 and got an oil change. My car was functioning just fine at the time. A little over a month later, on June 3, 2023, I broke down and discovered that there was not a drop of oil in my car. I had to have it towed 70 miles home, then to a mechanic, where it has been for a week while we assess the damage. I opened a claim with Valvoline and, as I expected, they "reviewed the video" of the service and determined that they did everything right and are not liable (imagine that!). I have my mechanic looking at it, but judging from the BBB reviews (and I encourage all of you to look at them), this company does not properly tighten the oil plugs and it strips them and causes damage to the oil pan. I am now without a vehicle due to something they did during what should have been a very simple procedure. They have not offered ANY assistance, and I am in for a very costly repair. I have filed a claim with the Bureau of Automotive Repair and fully intend to file a lawsuit if need be. DO NOT - and I mean - DO NOTTTTT - take your vehicle here. read more
