When it gets busy, there can be a bit of a line waiting your turn. Even though there are pumps set up for gas tanks on both the driver's and passenger's sides, and arrows suggesting how to enter and exit, you always have those folks who will ignore the arrows and those waiting in line to back into a spot or drive around and come in from the back. Watch out for those folks. I'm docking them 1 star for bad signage. The sign before entering the gas area was definitely out of date. It showed a gas price fifteen cents lower than today's actual price. I'm wondering whether they're short staffed, too lazy to update the sign, or whether they think folks will be more interested in getting gas, then learning the price is higher but will stay anyway. C'mon, everyone coming here is already a BJs customer and knows the price is lower. The do need to remember one other thing... the Costco opening a couple of miles away in 2026 will also sell gas.

On the one hand I'm really glad that this is here, because whenever I'm using the connector to get out of the fancy part of Albany and across the river into the Rensselaer area, and into the middle of nowhere, this is a perfect stop right before you get on the highway. Having said that, it's in a particularly run-down area with a lot of people hitting you up for money, and once I was even offered drugs here in the middle of pumping. "I only have a credit card" doesn't go down very well so be careful. Maybe just because of the way I look, I still feel safe. It's safe, for me, yes, but it's not comfortable, or wouldn't be for the average Yelper, let's put it that way. It's still very convenient and gas is anywhere from average price down to 20 cents cheaper, so that's a bonus, but because of the wait times for the pumps and that it can be scary for some people if not myself, I would give it a 3.

Not to mention it was raining. I walked over the the gas station on the corner of lark and Madison and talked to a very helpful clerk. She told me to have my car either towed right over or if I can drive very slowly. I drove very slowly and met a guy with blonde hair who was extremely helpful and fixed my tired in 5minutes. His charge for it was the best I ever had and I would extremely recommend his small shop to everyone who hates dealing with the hassle of big companies fucking you over. So I became a customer, if not buying gas, buying cigarettes and coffee early in the morning on the way to work. Sometimes minor repairs would be done by women working in the station. Rox took her car here all the time, for major and minor work, and loved them. Dunbrook Mobil does not have a staff, it's more like a cast. Through repeated visits, you get to know them, and the pleasant quirkiness of the business ameliorates the cost of gasoline a bit.
