By far the best biscuits and gravy in town! I've heard many great things about the B&G here, but every time I had a hankering for it, this place has slipped my mind since it's a bit out of the way (in the northern border of Oildale). Well, while I was at work today, a coworker brought it up again, and we decided to make the trek to the Speedway. Boy, am I glad I finally tried it! The biscuit was perfectly soft and moist, and the gravy had the best flavor with bits of sausage and bacon. I ordered it with egg (it's scrambled), and even that was not dry, like some other places. Ordered the small size at 7:30am and it's still tying me over at 2pm. I think I can make it till dinnertime! Also, for less than $3.50, it's an amazing deal! We have been buying biscuits and gravy here for years. Unfortunately, no longer. It turns out that not only did the price go up, but they cut one frozen biscuit into 3rds!! I realize these are not the best biscuits in the world to begin with, but for some reason we have kept buying them when in Oildale. It seems yet another business has turned greedy. I would think the biscuits and gravy have a pretty big profit margin already, but they couldn't just leave it alone. I am only one person, and I know nobody cares if I buy their product, but I'm stopping the madness, ( for me. ) I will miss them, LOL Also, there are a couple of women working in the deli, that have no business dealing with the public. When dealing with customers, they act like they are princesses, or drank a bottle of vinegar. I got a small biscuits and gravy, but the lady didn't pour any gravy on one side of the biscuits. I asked her if I could please have more gravy, and one of her coworkers heard. They shot each other a look that was disgusting, like I was just another idiot customer who wanted more gravy. Heard good things about this place. So I had to see for myself. Let me just say it isn't a dine in place at all it's just a gas station! As we approached the counter looking for the famous biscuits and gravy we come to a deli style counter. The worker can clearly tell this is our first time. Mainly because we looked lost and confused. I heard rumors the biscuits with gravy were amazing here but today I have confirmed this and agree! OMG! Went for breakfast and left with breakfast and lunch to have later. So it's a pretty small food counter but dont let the looks deceive you, it's where some of the most delicious comfort foods are being served by the dozens. I kid you not as I was there there were people just pouring in stepping to the counter with their orders and out the door they went. No long lines just happy people being served food made with love! The Gravy have a sausage and bacon mix which makes it nice and filling, definitely think I tasted butter and real quality ingredients. The biscuits are not dry at all, although they are extra generous with their gravy and the biscuits are suspended in the country gravy goodness as it should be. You can purchase them in small and large and the small is perfect size for anyone. You can add scrambled eggs and potatoes as well if you'd like. In the fridge counter there is also a selection of premade that day breakfast burritos and sandwiches. The Monster Burrito had bacon, sausage, potatoes, cheese, eggs and jalepenos, it was their version on an everything burrito. The difference between their burrito and most places is Speedways had flavor!! I took 2 sandwiches home for lunch to warm up in my air fryer :) the BBQ Beef and the Tri-tip Sandwich. Everything is made fresh there and the tri tip had nice flavor. The salsa on the sandwich was lackluster no to much flavor maybe a little sweet, tri tip was definitely the best part of this sandwich. The BBQ beef sandwich has big pieces of beef covered in BBQ sauce but the sauce isn't to spicy or sweet it's perfect. The cheddar cheese goes perfect. The sandwich rolls are like fresh sandwich hoagie rolls. The key word is fresh here. For value I give it an A+++ why? Because I purchased enough food to feed a small army of people for 2 meals and it was only $36 dollars. The service was nice and friendly. The girls were helpful and patient with us undecided folk and yet still the line kept moving fast. This place deserves a round of applause! read more

Best mini mart in Bakersfield. They have a ton of the nicest guys/gals working here. Very friendly and they seem to know everybody who shops here by name. They have a great deli and sell tri tip during the week. Their prices are very competitive and since they're so close (and open late), it is just an incredible convenience. Every lady in there is a gossip. They talk about the people who are patrons. Tasha is rude and the manager. The owner doesn't return calls even when her employees attack you for asking to speak to her. The perks here are not worth having them spread dangerous rumors about yourself and your family. Those rumors involved my safety and an ongoing police investigation .. I tried to tell them that nay continued to talk about me and disregard my safety. Tasha wouldn't want me telling what Ive heard about her. But I am an adult and don't gossip like a chicken. Clucking isn't my style. I've tried biscuits and gravy all around town, and this place has the absolute BEST sausage gravy. The biscuits are good too, but a tad smaller than other places. But they compensate with a huge portion of gravy. They will also add scrambled eggs and/or potatoes for small fee. Fresh ground pepper and tobacco readily available. The staff is very friendly. I went in early one morning with a cold, and asked if they had any individual packs of NyQuil/DayQuil. They didn't, but one of the cashiers was so sweet, she kindly offered me a pack of her own that she had. Made my day. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is they charge a fee for debit/credit (in most places, it's only for one or the other) and the machines are soo slow. read more

single biscuit and gravy will last you through lunch no problem. gravy is full of crispy bits of bacon and sausage. one biscuit is split into 3 healthy slices then laid flat, end to end in a rectangle to-go container. gravy goes on top, biscuits disappear. red tabasco, pepper & salt are some of the condiments offered at the food counter. i recommend grabbing an extra fork b/c someone always wants a bite once they know what you have. unsure of the cost as this is never the only item i end up at the register with. speedway also has some of the best unsweetened iced tea and gynormous cups. it's woth the drive, watch for big trucks and traffic from every direction. forgot to mention im giving a full 5 stars because the girls at speedway are ALWAYS friendly to everyone that comes in, they work together like best friends, and if you go more than once chances are they'll remember you! read more

Poor service. Frequently have to wait for cashier to finish a conversation with a passer-by before ringing me up. Standard menu items often made wrong. Workers scream at each other constantly in shrill voices as if they think it is "cute banter" that customers enjoy hearing. Usually only 2 of the 5-6 employees actually doing anything. There's usually always a meth head on a motor scooter hanging around. Head chef is very rude when somebody has a question about the menu. And even more rude if somebody has a basic request for their food. EVERYTHING IS OVERPRICED! They hike up the cost of everything because there are no other stores near by to compete with. Or maybe it's because they're paying 7 lousy employees to do the work of 4 average employees? I wish there was more options for all the guys that work in this area read more

My husband works in the oilfields so he comes here all the time, every Sunday after church we go get biscuits and gravy. Well today was my First time going in to order alone the biscuits and gravy, and the lady was just flat out rude to me. When I was ordering she wasn't even paying attention to what I was saying because she was talking to her little baby. Precious little baby. all I asked was if they still have biscuits and gravy? The lady said yes and asked if I wanted one order I said yes just one, she ended up just pouring it in the to go plate and I let her know oh I'm not sure how my husband orders them but he gets potatoes in them and she said ok so she made a whole new plate. When she finished she asked if I was taking the other plate without potatoes I told her no I only asked for one i just wasn't sure how to order them and she started saying no you ordered two but ok. And just took them back . Some guys were behind me and said they'll take it, well when I was at the register paying I over heard her talking about me saying I ordered two and blah blah blah, well long story short. Never going again. I told my husband and he was pretty upset as well. How do they expect everyone to know how to order? She looked like she was just in a hurry to get me out so she can speak to the ppl she was talking to and I just think that's so rude. this is my number one spot before work they girls here appreciate their customers. they even occasionally will buy out the doughnuts and give them free in the mornings to their patrons, most of whom are oil field workers. the bbq and hot food is a big plus they will even heat up the cold packaged food for you. always great and friendly service and i highly recommend stomping by if your in the area read more
