Bought a Groupon because it was such a good deal. I will say that the process is more painful than my experience at another laser place. It is because that the device they use, reminds me somewhat like getting a sonogram, is in full contact on your skin during the whole session. It can end up feeling like you're getting burned. I ended up popping a Motrin or a Tylenol before each time. The receptionist isn't entirely welcoming so overall, the experience leaves me indifferent. P.S. One star cus the place is clean or it would be none. Basically the laser machine they use don't get the job done. Don't let the first session fool you either! I've done laser multiple times in the past and this is by far my worst results. I've done 6 sessions now and my hair growth comes back just as fast, just thinner and lighter in color (basically now my hair is a bad candidate for laser)!!! In the past and at other locations, by my 4th/5th visit the hair was gone. I addressed my hair issues to the desk girls and I was informed that it was normal and it takes about 20 SESSIONS!!! The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. The woman who works the front desk is unhelpful, rude and has a serious attitude with all customers. She is not helpful answering questions and lies about appointments and how many you have done. When you walk in she doesn't greet you but instead sits there with a smirk looking down upon customers, also there is no set reminder for appointments or follow up from visits. A basic customer service qualification for any business. She has also put me in multiple times for wrong appointments or for the wrong areas to be lasered. Additionally, the technicians aren't skilled in what they do and are rude as well. When I was doing my laser I kept complaining that the laser felt too hot and was uncomfortable and asked for a break, and her response was we have to get this done i don't have time for breaks. Forcing me to rush through my laser process and be uncomfortable for the entire session. If i hadn't bought a pack i would have never come back, but i did and finished my 12 sessions and I've seen full hair growth in all areas. I understand it has to do with your skin color and hair type but I've gone to other places where I've never had an issue before. I got a groupon for this and expected to have no hair after my 8 sessions. The only reason I gave this two stars is because the people were mostly nice. The receptionist was rude though. The hair removal didn't work though and two weeks after my last treatment this was simply a waste of money. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Also - they had a different technician each week and it felt like they didn't know what they were doing. No one used the same settings and no one did the same length of time for the treatment. HA. Updating my review yet again because not one thing changed. For about one more session I had the manager's attention, but since then I've spent the last 6 months with continued problem after problem. I encourage anyone interested to read my last two reviews to better understand the situation, but the final visit was me walking out saying I was never coming back, not because treatment was completed. To be clear, I am voluntarily losing the money I spent on this place because it is NOT WORTH the headache of continuing to try with these people. In fact, I have no wasted over a year with this place with NO changes even in the areas that were treated and certainly not any progress with the areas I had problems with. I have been repeatedly blamed for things such as Zoya not coming in (I "didn't confirm" and yet the last text from her says "See you then"?????). I am flat out over it. Their attempt at fixing things was a complete scam and I cannot believe I spent so much time going to the appointments only to be stood up, barely find availability and the nasty receptionist with the awful attitude still there, despite Zoya's reassurance that "she is leaving" (6 months ago now). DO NOT waste your money here. The only way you will get your money's worth is if you get your money back. Also, please be warned that in my last review I was repeatedly asked to update my original, despite this being before any changes were actually made. The first time I went my technician, the Dominican girl did not want to answer my questions and was rushing me a ton. This resulted me in not knowing what my options for areas were and this whole time I've only been getting two areas done when I paid for three. Absolutely Love Spektrum. A friend of mine introduced me to them a year ago and it has been the best decision I have made. I was always hesitant of laser because of the pain (even though I use to get waxed religiously). Honestly, the pain is nothing in comparison to waxing. They work with you, so if you can handle a stronger session then you go for it. I have super thick black hair and after the second session my hairs started to fall out. It really isn't worth the money saved. The technicians aren't well trained and as a result, the lady at my last appointment, went over the area too many times and ended up causing 2nd degree burns. It was more money than the laser treatment cost, going to the doctor and dermatologists. Not to mention the pain and fear. Needless to say, I stopped going and will never be back. The service with Ruslana was great. She was very kind & a great person to have for your first experience. What I don't like about Spektrum is their business & sale tactics. I used the Groupon package which includes 2 small and 1 large area. Apparently your extended bikini line - which should actually be the same thing as your bikini line (seeing as it is the exact same area of your body) is not included in the package and you have to pay an additional $450+. It was clearly just a way for them to get you into the location with the Groupon because anyone who gets a wax/Brazilian for example knows the bikini line is the same thing as the extended and when getting a Brazilian there is never an extra charge for that area. The fact that they do this is tacky and a poor business practice. My friend goes to another location and they do not do this. I would not recommend to anyone for that read more

Love this place! I got a groupon for 1 year of unlimited laser hair removal on 2 small areas and 1 large area and so far so good. Although unlimited they space out the sessions to every 6-7 weeks so you basically get 8 in total. It is super easy to make an appointment or re-schedule over the phone when necessary. The staff is very nice and I've never had to wait for long. The location is convenient and easy to get to, right around 34th St. by Bryant Park; it's located on a 2nd floor in case you don't see it. As far as the procedure, they make it as comfortable as it can be. Keep in mind the pain will vary depending how thick/coarse the hair is but if you follow all the instructions the results should be great. I'm 4 sessions in and have definitely noticed a difference - hair grows back thinner and slower and I already have sections where there's no growth at all. I really can't wait to see the finished results! I've noticed that they have great prices outside of groupon so I will most likely come back to work on other areas once I'm done. If you're lucky you'll get a technician named Ruslana. I make sure that all my appointments are with her because she's gentle, thorough, and takes her time if you're feeling any pain. Been doing my treatments at this establishment almost 2 years because one of the technician named Ruslana who always provides me with the best service ever, but thing got a bit twisted here. Yesterday, I received a called from front desk lady saying that Ruslana isnt working today. So I asked back nicely, if I could do another day with Ruslana? She then replied yes but there is a fee $30 from $50. I was like for what reason!? She said because I rescheduled. But what if I go there and my service wasn't good like the past two times that happened to me with another technicians that isnt Ruslana. Who gonna pay for that? Could not recommend this place LESS. I had originally had 6 sessions of full lower body and underarms at their sister location Infinity Laser Spa. After 6 sessions, I did not notice any difference at all (sessions every 6 weeks, all propper steps before/during/after sessions). They somehow convinced me to do another 6 sessions at Spektrum and I figured it would work after that. The only areas that improved were my underarms and Brazilian. Legs and glutes are like I never did laser in the first place. I was a little worried at first because laser on dark skin can get tricky but I didn't have any problems. I've had the best results from spektrum and I've been doing laser for some time. WORST PLACE EVER. The service is horrible and the front desk is rude af. They are horrible with scheduling. They constantly change your appointment times and then blame it on the system. You end up waiting over 30mins. If it was once or twice, that's fine... but for them to constantly do this and not even apologize. Not acceptable. Not sure if it's because I got a deal on Groupon that they're treating me like shit. Update: They called me and asked me to take down the review. I said no. The manager met me the next time I went in and asked again to take down the review. Again I said no, that I'll wait and see if the place improves before I make any edits to my review. They were better about my appointments (but might be do to them wanting the review changed).
