On Sunday, my truck's steering made a strange noise and then became very difficult to steer. I limped it to Spencer's on Combs Rd and dropped off my keys for service when Spencer's could fit it into their schedule. My daughters car has been there for over heating so they rolls me or was a thermostat but I had to replace the entire housing a year ago, which I did. Her car started over heating again and it's under warranty so we took it back and was told they only replaced the thermostat and a a cover now and added that she blew a head gasket. So we picked her car up and took it to two other shops for diagnostic. She Did Not blow a head gasket and it was/is the thermostat housing that is causing the over heating. Worst experience I have had. Called Spencer Autorepair becuase my car was not turning on which I knew it had to be a loose cable not making contact and Im no mechanic... After having payed for my car to be towed by them they say the car turns on and there is nothing wrong with it... they give me a rundown of what can potentially be wrong and go ahead and replace a part that was not the issue to begin with. I pay them $1000 and pick up the car only to have the same problem the next day... They take the car once again and manage to turn it on... ( this was due to the cable while is cold it stops making connection and once the wheels make traction it heats up as the other mechanic (non specers)) tells me. So it was a matter of a cable that they didnt even check or got to the bottom of it. The incompetence of this shop is just in another level since they let me go with the same problem I came with and took my money. Money which could have been spent on people that actually know what they are doing and not some high schooler which is what I got as a mechanic. Now I really dont know why the great rep for this shop... or is it maybe beacuse who founded this shop does not even runs it anymore... Dont know. All I got was " Will will take care of this. month-in and Will has not refunded or even explain what happened. read more

We used Spencer's the other day for brakes on my husband's SUV. He is very picky about where he takes his car because he has seen too many auto repair places rip people off. We asked for a quote on rear brakes via the form on the website on Thursday night around 10:30 pm and Alonzo called at 7 am on Friday with the quote. My husband wanted OEM parts and Alonzo quickly got back to us with a quote for my husband's request. Alonzo ordered the parts and was able to get us in same day! The guys at the shop were very friendly and efficient. The inspection report included descriptions and pictures. Pricing was honest and fair. We were very pleased with our whole experience. Spent $1800 last August 7 drive the car once a week to drop my kids off at school when a couple weeks ago this happened. So I call them up to fined the car is still under warranty. I rent a dolly to get the car to them when the car gets they they call me like a week later saying they had try to call but left no message ohhh and the my whole trans is shot and need a new one that it would cost me $2,200. This was the worst auto repair experience I've ever had. This experience exemplified a lack of communication, poor planning, apparent incompetence, and a general lack of customer care. During the ten days my car was in this shop, it was constantly up to me to call the shop for updates. Meanwhile, I consistently received false promises about timelines and guarantees the shop would reach out to me first, but it rarely did. The events mentioned here occurred between May 14 and May 24 at the Spencer's in San Tan Valley, Arizona. For greater detail, please see the Call/Event Log below. I have been to this shop several times and received decent service, which was one of the reasons this instance was so poignant. This episode was especially miserable because the car was our only vehicle. Worse yet, we needed it to make a seven-hour journey across the desert the following week. Typically, when I return my vehicle from an auto repair shop such as yours, I had increased confidence that it is safer than when I dropped it off. However, in this instance, I was left with the opposite feeling. My car returned from this shop with as many issues as it went in. At no point was the possibility brokered that some of these issues might have been the shop's responsibility. The shop merely evolved and expanded its diagnostic report over time to encompass the new repairs they had either missed or created. Meanwhile, they continued to grossly overquote for minor repairs they "discovered," as is shown below in the Call/Event Log. I understand the need to make a profit; shops must add an upcharge. However, there comes the point in a situation when you are kicking someone while they're down. I brought my car in to get an oil leak fixed, my CV boots replaced, and my A/C checked. After spending $2,000 (not including additional Uber/Lyft fares), I had my car returned to me with a newly leaking radiator and two broken connectors. While, at the same time, being told that I was driving away in a death trap that only an additional $2,400 of my hard-earned cash could remedy. Hopefully, this letter can be used to either improve this shop or help other potential customers steer clear. 5-14-22 I dropped the car off at the shop at 7:50 am for an 8 am appointment. I told the technician that I was looking to get an oil leak fixed, my CV boots replaced, and my A/C checked. The technician recommended that I change the axles instead of just the CV boots. I accepted. Missed a call at 2:53 pm from the shop. I called them back at 4:00 pm. I was told the technicians couldn't start the car to move it into the garage. The cause was a known ignition issue. The remedy is to push the key in while turning. 5-16-22 I called the shop at 7:15 am for an update. The technician informed me that they had performed a diagnostic and emailed me the results. The recommendation was to replace the front constant velocity axle assembly, perform some fluid flushes, recharge the A/C, and perform an oil leak test with UV fluid. I accepted all but the fluid flushes. I missed and returned a call at 8:45 am and was informed that the repairs would require an additional day due to their complexity. 5-17-22 I called the shop at 3:22 pm and was informed that they could not complete the repair without a special tool they would have to order. The tool was ordered and expected to arrive the following day. 5-18-22 I called the shop at 12:46 pm and was informed that the tool had not arrived yet and, if it did, it was not likely the repair would be completed by the end of the day. I was told I would receive a status update before COB. I mentioned the expense incurred by my wife having to Uber to work, as this is our only car. I was told they would contact customer service to put money into my wife's account. I agreed that this would be acceptable. 5-19-22 I received a call from customer service at 9:03 am to collect my wife's Uber account information. They did deposit a $100 voucher into her account, valid for on-demand rides only, which expired at the end of the month. I called the shop at 4:18 pm and was told the tool had not arrived. 5-20-22 I called the shop at 2:42 pm and did not get an answer. I called the shop at 3:44 pm and was told that the car sensors were malfunctioning and causing the car to think it was overheating even though it wasn't. The part to remedy this issue would be over $500, but they would provide the labor (quoted as over $300) for free. I accepted, and the part was ordered. I was also told the car was running rough, so the spark plugs had been removed and cleaned. I replied that I found this odd because the spark plugs had been replaced last year. 5-21-22 I called the shop at 3:09 pm and was told the part to be delivered from a Ford dealership had not yet arrived. I was told I would be called by COB with an update. No call was received. 5-23-22 I called the shop at 10:43 am for an update with no answer. read more

For my best interest they couldn't give me my car. I told them I was a mile away and I'd either drive it or tow it. They told me they couldn't find a problem with the AC system They wanted to check my electrical system and charge me $130. Took my car elsewhere and the mechanic showed me that my freon was low. First off, I took my car here to be diagnosed and fixed. The first visit, they told me it needed new hosing and pcv system. Nearly $700 later (actually told me one price which I approved then upon arrival it was higher and not approved but I paid it anyways) they told me it was all fixed and test drove. R minutes down the road it DIED. Got in contact with them and took it back in....4 days later no contact I called In and they told me I need a new engine, that I have excessive blow by getting into my engine thru the piston rings. I asked how they didn't catch this in the first place and why they told me it was fixed when it clearly wasn't. Alonzo didn't have any answers for me. It was just "ya, ya well ill have to get with the tech" okay fine. Then when I told him none of this makes sense....he says "well I can get you a discount on a new engine" like what???? No. I want to know why you think I need a new engine. How was this diagnosed? No answers. The next morning I sent my husband down to get the key. When my husband asked if they did a leak down or compression check to see if it was the engine or the cylinder head they said "no just a vision and cap test" So, I go to pick up my car that upon arrival is parked entangled in a bunch of tumbleweeds stuck in my bumper. Okay whatever annoying but let's move on... I'm told I'll get a call that day with a quote ( don't want it at this point) never got a call. I reached out to them AGAIN to get the diagnosis on both visits, which they sent me ONE for a tire, winsheild wipers, and control arm bushings being cracked with NOTHING ON THE ENGINE. I've been told for days I'll get a call. Nothing. Then here we are today....go out, open my hood and my engine cover was never even put back on!!!!! Nowhere to be found. Even better--- EVERYTHING IS COVERED IN SPRAYED OIL!!!! my intake housing. Covered in oil. Everything....covered in oil. I've NEVER seen such a bad job. I immediately called Will H. Forwarded to his VM. Called Alonzo, explained to him and asked where my cover is and why is there oil sprayed everywhere. All he could say was "let me go see if the tech didn't put something back together and if your cover is here" .......MY COVER BETTER BE THERE, because it certainly isn't where it should be and mostly concerning. Where is all of this oil spraying from?????? Alonzo says give me 10 mins and I'll call you back, 45 mins later it was 5pm and wouldn't you guess......NO CALL. Sent in videos and pictures showing them what it looked like and how mad I am about what they've done. My car is in worse condition than when I took it to them. I want a refund. I get a message back saying will will reach out to me Monday, they are really sorry and a family owned business.  Well guess what. Your leaving a FAMILY in a VERY bad situation at CHRISTMAS to boot. DO NOT BRING YOUR VEHICLES HERE. I WILL NEVER BE BACK. Seemed like nice people, but apparently it's all a hoax. read more

After seeking advice on the best auto shop near us I was told that Spencer was amazing... while they might be polite and say that they are customer oriented, their actual auto repairs are HORRIBLE. We could not have had a worse experience or should I say experiences. Every time they have made a repair we have had to take the car back in for them to fix their repair or "new" part they have just put on our car. Due to the failures of the technicians (I was told the best tech they had was working on my car) my fiances life was put on the line multiple times. The first time they did not secure a bolt after replacing the A arm on his vehicle and the wheel was falling off, literally falling off! Another time, after almost $9,000 spent with them basically rebuilding the engine (again best tech working on it) my fiance came home wreaking of gasoline because the car was spewing fuel everywhere. I was told by the manager that the fuel line wasn't connected properly... Doesn't sound like quality to me. Thank God no one threw a cigarette or anything while this was happening or he would have gone up in flames! While the manager and district manager are good and being reactive to the crap work their team does, I wish that they would do quality work in the first place so that I wouldn't have to continue to take my car back in. The only reason we keep going back is because we have invested SO much money at this point and the work is supposed to be warrantied. I want them to do what they are supposed to and fix my vehicle and not just take money and break my car further. I would never take any of our other vehicles to a Spencer and God help others that do. read more

So I decided to take my car to dodge and a different mechanic to which BOTH told me my rack and pinion is totally fine. I went in because my vehicle had hesitation and it felt like I was driving with the parking break on, which it wasn't. He listened to me and said it sounded like wheel bearings. Then he went out to look at the car and write down information. He came in and said "I can't fix this car in good faith" and I thought is it that broken. He said he felt it is the wheel bearings and the car has 29,600 miles on it and he recommended that I take it to a dealer as he was sure it would be covered under a warranty. He was very honest with me. I went to the dealer and it was the wheel bearing and they fixed it under warranty. I appreciate people with good values and that are honest.
