Demolition derby at spencer fair
Lance C.

Went to the fair as a small child and had always remembered it. Made my way back in my mid 30's, just as I remember a small town fair. You have a ton of foods Italian sausage, fries, onion blossoms, pizza and deep fry everything's. Had your typical carnival rides. But the thing that stands out about this fair from other local fairs is the DEMOLITION DERBYS!

I've been to many fairs but the Spencer fair holds the record for being the smallest. Very little rides and things to do. What there is to do is boring and not as elaborate as stuff you would see at other fairs. The demolition derby being there biggest attraction was the worst of all. With a total of 25 cars and only 4 demos !!!! I haven't seen a event so short and so small in years. Now this may be harsh but Spencer fairs demolition derby used to have 75-80 cars and a mix of different events. Come on people of Spencer i know you can do better, matter fact i have seen you do better.

This is a good old fashioned country fair. Crowded but fun. The demolition derby was great.

We got flatbreads, nachos, Mac and cheese, wings and an order of hush puppies. They left more than half of everything and said it was just ok. I spent $120 between food and drinks.. but the real kicker is *it's not a real restaurant* you go up and order like a Burger King and then you go up and pick up like Burger King but they still want a 20% tip. so I don't know what they want their 20% tip for when no one comes to you, no one checks on you. No one to ask you how it is. they don't care. also, they only sell single serve bottles of soda so there's no refills. We ended up spending like $22 on soda alone. * I noticed on their Facebook that they were complaining that people who were doing cornhole tournaments were bringing outside food and instead of reassessing their situation and what they're serving, they threatened to cancel the cornhole. If you served better food, people would buy it. It's not rocket science. Yours is 5/10 and there's other options out there that are cheaper and better than what you're currently offering. You don't take away the cornhole from people who are giving you any bit of business, you make it better for them.. so they want to buy it and they want to spend money and they want to eat your food. *since my teens aren't old enough to drink, there really isn't much to offer there in the way of food so we won't be coming back because there's no reason to.

The lanes are in good condition and it's an affordable place to visit. There are pool tables as well, if that's your thing. The small arcade at the front entrance can kill some time and is a great distraction for younger kiddos. There isn't much of a food service, so you've got what the soda machines against the back wall will provide for you. The staff is friendly, and there is a 4% discount for paying with cash.

But the staff was super nice and still let me have a lane - they never rushed me, even though I knew the league was coming and the lanes had already started filling up with folks. The people who were assigned to my lane never rushed me either! I ended up fitting in 2 whole games before I left (again, no one asked me to leave, even though I was on someone's assigned lanes, and there were maybe 10 minutes before league starting). What a fun experience, and everyone was so nice. It's a pity I don't live closer - but I'd definitely go again the next time I drive through. Everything seemed well maintained and very clean. The arcade area was well kept, and the pool tables were in great condition!
