Went to their winter lights event with my two small children. Wildly over priced, the teenagers running the place are appallingly rude, they randomly decided to close early and start turning lights off. We had to fight to use the train ride that we paid for since they refused to refund us. No one could tell us where the animals were that we had gotten feed for. The entire thing was confusing and disappointing and every single encounter we had with staff was aggressively rude. This was absolutely not a family friendly experience. We were charged over $90 for 20min of wandering around the property confused and insulted by the teenagers working there. After a full blown confrontation we were refunded $18 because they decided to close early without warning. Their response to us was that we were welcome to let our kids play in the dark for the remainder of the time we paid for if we wanted. Still can't believe the attitude the staff felt entitled to give paying customers just there to have fun with their toddlers. We will happily never be returning. read more

This farm is nice in he sense it has not become "big farm" --corporate type of farm. It seems like it is still family run which is nice for a change. That's really where it stops. It is a hodgepodge of things thrown together poorly. The country store has barely anything inside. You are charged $3 a person to go inside a sectioned off area that goes to the pumpkin patch (just go to the grocery store because it's the same pumpkins), petting zoo (use this phrase lightly) , playground, food truck, pony rides and some other activities . Beginning of October and no apples were left on the trees but they were still charging full price for the bags. $25 for a small bag and $40 for the large. We paid for the $40 bag and could barely fill it. I drove out of the way to try this place and won't do that in the future. read more

Sunday was beautiful and a great day for a first visit here. I brought my mom who has dementia and she was just having an off day. She wanted no part in any of it :( I had to quickly get her back to the car but that was going to be a challenge. Well I believe it was the owner's daughter working in the little store who came to our rescue. She quickly had her husband drive us to my car( he was busy working the register). There was another woman helping us as well. They were so kind and patient. What I was able to see was great. They have everything there for a fun filled day and so organized and reasonably priced. This place is a rip off. Dont think you are getting organic apples, have seen them spray their trees during season. Prices are unreal for everything, I really hate places that feel they have to charge you for everything. You pay to get into the play area by the store and then you have to pay to ride the ponies $4, climb the rock wall $5, giant slide $2 and the rip off just keeps on going. Dont get me started with the baked goods, I get better tasting baked goods from the bakery for less than what they rip you off at Stowe. Personally I would like to see this place turned into homes and condos at least the tax revenue would be a benefit to the town and the animal stench would be gone. PS...$14.00 for an apple pie that looked like something out of a middle schools home ec class was the biggest laugh of the day... see pic and you judge. My boyfriend and I bought our 11 week old poogle puppy, Princess from Stowe Farm and we couldn't be happier with our decision. She has become such an important peice of our little family, and there's nothing better than seeing our lil puppy grow everyday, from being shy and sweet to the sassy yet lovable and intelligent Princess we are blessed to have. We used to come here with our older children who are now 13 and 11. We now have a 3 year old and a 1 year old and I decided to go this afternoon. I paid the admission price of $3 for us thinking it covered us for the attractions inside the fenced in area. It doesn't! The admission gives you access to their playground, petting zoo, and pumpkin patch (who charges customers to LOOK at their pumpkins). The other attractions all require tokens which are $1 each. So the cow train cost our family $4.00 (2$ a person) the wagon ride that lasted 2 mins was $16.00 ($4.00 a persin) , pony rides which was 1 loop around was $8.00 ($4.00 a person). Their pumpkin patch was almost bare and had pretty bad pumpkins. My advice to anyone with more than 1 kid is to skip stowe and go to WESTEND CREAMERY in Sutton. This place knows how to keep people happy one admission price a guess what everything inside is INCLUDED! Will never go to Stowe again it is a complete rip off read more

My review is about the puppies that Stowe Farm sells. The two given stars are due to the fact that I LOVE my puppy and despise all the lies and fake promises, I would never return her. Plus she is healthy and gorgeous. The problem is on how the deal was done. I contacted Maura regarding a puppy I saw on PuppyFind. She told me she was half Australian Shepherd and half Cattle dog and I could see one of parents at the farm, but the other didn't live there. When we got there, they just dropped the puppy with us in a room and went to show another puppy to other couple. When we asked about the parents, they again told me she was an Australian Shepherd and Cattle dog mix, but none was at the farm at the moment. We paid and took the puppy, no questions asked or answered. The ad where we found her promised 2 sets of vaccines, de-worming and flea treatments done before she had to go home. When we got her we were told she had only 1 set. When we took her to the vet, we didn't have any papers or health record to prove what vaccines she had, so my vet tried to contact them, but nobody picked up or called back. I had to give her all the vaccines she was supposed to already have done again and paid for it. The website also says all the puppies bought at the farm came with an hour of training for free, a bed, two nights of boarding and microchip for bigger breeds. None of those were honored. When we contacted them about it, Maura said that our puppy was "cheaper" than she should be, therefore they would not honor what was promised. Last, but not least, we just got the results of the DNA test we got done on our puppy from the Stowe Farm. She has NONE Australian Shepherd on her! One of her parents is a purebred SIBERIAN HUSKY, and the other is a mix of a Cattle dog with something else. We love her and we'll do whatever is needed to take great care of her, but we were not expecting or planning to have a big dog like a Husky right now and we feel disrespected by the lies and fake promises of the farm staff. read more

Took our granddaughter on a cloudy brisk Saturday and the place was still pretty busy. The store was pretty much out of everything. We got a bag of Cortland apples and couple pieces of fudge. In both cases I've had better. There was $3 charge per person to go into the petting zoo and play area. It was cute. The pumpkin patch was picked over too. We missed apple picking, but we still found plenty to do at this place. The best part is the fee structure: $3 admission for the grownups, free for kids. That covers basically the petting zoo and playground. After that, you pay really reasonable fees for the other stuff, like the moon bounce, pony rides, hay rides, etc. The result is, you don't pay for more than your kids can do (we spent more on my four-year-old than on my one-year-old, who was mostly content to pet goats and play in the sandbox), and you don't feel like you didn't get your money's worth if you can't stay for more than an hour or two. There's also a country store that sells jams, baked goods, cookbooks, and lots of apples, so even if you miss picking, you can get apples by the peck or half-peck. They have several varieties, all grown on premises. read more

Would never go again. It cost $3 per person to get into the festivity area. Almost all of the young children activities were closed, and all of them cost extra on top of the cover charge. The hay ride was about 60 seconds, the balloon clown and mini golf course was closed hours before the actual farm closing. The only food available was a pulled pork truck, no apple themed anything was sold. And the orchard picking cover charge also had to be paid per person, $20 per 3 people to pick. It was outrageous and less than festive. To be honest it was a giant waste of money and time. Ended up leaving and going to Hawk Hill instead, they were amazing there. read more

Holy disorganization. First of all -- there are no apples to walk to anymore. You have to wait in a queue for a wagon to take you up the street to pick. Negative. Here's how our day went. Parking in the large lot on the left is a nightmare because people are rude & there's no one to keep people from blocking you in. Negative. We let the kids go to the play area first so we could get a snack & they could run around. . Mr Bethany & I each got a pulled pork sandwich which was filling & tasty for $5 each. Positive It cost $4 to let the kids slide down the large inflatable slide 3 times. Negative. When we decided it was "apple picking time" we meandered across the street bypassing the 50 plus people waiting for the wagons like we have for 3 years. The gentleman that used to sell the bags informed us that the bags are to be purchased back at the store -- across the street. Mr Bethany took off to get the bag while the kids and I waited. It dawned on me though that I didn't see many apples on the trees & asked the guy if we could still pick on this side. "Nope, you have to take a wagon now" was his answer. GRRRR! The kids and I ran to stop the bag buying -- because now it's beyond ridiculous because there are NO SIGNS telling people how their operation has changed. I love picking apples but I detest wasting mine and my family's time. So, thanks for nothing Stowe Farms. I'm sure we can find another orchard within a 10 mile radius that will not waste my time or money. read more

THE BEST apple orchard in central MA. I love taking my kids here. The prices are fantastic. We spent the whole day here. We did the moo moo train, hay ride, mini toddler golf, horse riding and ate food. Spent $30. We held the guinea pigs, baby chicks, billy goats and sheep. Didn't even get to the orchard because we ran out of time! We will definitely be back and will tell everyone to go here. The workers were so friendly and nice! read more

We went there to pick macoun apples. Their sign said they had some left as did the person who sold me the bag but we couldn't find any that weren't eaten by worms. I tried to return the "pick your own apples" bag so I could buy some in their store but they wouldn't let me return the bag. They said our only option was to fill the bag with the baking apples they had left. It was a terrible waste of $30. There are so many better orchards in the area - I'll never go back to Stowe. read more

Stowe Farm is the best! So many activities for families in addition to some great apple picking. We just checked it out over the weekend with our kids (ages 8 and 1) and we had so much fun!! Wow this place was a major disappointment! Plenty of apples to pick but very difficult to traverse with kids and an off roads stroller. Grass was way too long and the hill was large. Also somewhat difficult to find the apple varieties you would like. Parking was a nightmare! Very difficult to get in and out of the large lot before the farm. Then you have to walk along a busy street for a long distance to make it there. Activities were pay as you go after being charged $3/person just to get in. This fee got you nothing and they even charged for my 4 year old. There were tons of kids crying because $3 or so got you about 3 minutes in a bouncy house. Another $3 for an inflatable slide that you could do 3 times. Even more for rock wall and cow train. We were very conservative and spent over $70 for my husband, me, 4 year old, and 2 year old. We only bought minimal food for my husband and I (shared everything), apples, and 2 donuts in the shop. Donuts were $1.50 each and my husband said they were horrible! First time going and definitely will not be going back! Would much prefer to pay one price and actually be able to do a few different things. We will go back to West End Creamery instead! My husband and I adopted an adorable Papillon puppy from there a week ago. We loved that when we arrived to the area that the puppy was in it was clean and didn't smell bad. The puppy was obviously healthy and happy. We were able to meet his parents also. They were well taken care of and very happy little dogs. We were given his vet info and a care package. He is so happy and well adjusted we are just thrilled with him and the upbringing he received. Because we live over 3 hours away they even held him for a week with a nominal deposit. If we ever decide to adopt another in the future we will definitely go back. read more

Two months ago I bought my sweet little Puppy from Stowe Farms. She was perfectly healthy and happy when we picked her up. We're so lucky to have her in our lives. Only set back, the breeder told me both parents of our puppy were 5 pounds and our baby just turned 4 months and is already 8 pounds, so she's most likely mixed with another breed. We picked Stowe Farms because it seemed like there was something for everyone. We arrived and there wasn't anymore Apple picking ( I half expected this given it was late October). It was initially disappointing because it was much smaller than I expected. With this said, we had a great family day! I have a 12 year old, 6 year old and infant and they were all happy! What an awesome place. I have visiting Stowe Farm for many years, and it just get better every year. The old fashion tractor ride to pick apples was great! It's a place where you can just slow down and enjoy the history. The tractor driver gave us loads of info on how it used to be a dairy farm. My family loves stowe farm. The staff are so welcoming,( why wouldn't they be they play with animals and kids all day). The time and effort that is put into that family owned amusement park is awesome. And the pricing is overwhelming low. I like the review before here that said you get your money's worth whether you stay 1 hour or 4 hours. I don't know how they make a profit with such low pricing. The country apple store is so much fun, it's like a trip back in time to a place where no one is in a rush, and you can enjoy all the old fashion snacks. The review on here by Bethany B. must be used to all the corporate owned big business structure that is taking over America. Its 100% family, be grateful these places are still around. This year was our second visit to Stowe farm. We went last year for our Christmas tree, had a great time and so decided to do it again this year. The tree we got is near perfect and everyone there went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They have a free petting zoo (goats, sheep, chickens and roosters) and provide complimentary feed for the animals which is great for kids. They had hot chocolate, a roaring fire, holiday music and a very nice atmosphere. We will be back next year for sure! read more

I purchased my puppy here in 2008. I was told he was AKC registered, which was important to me because I planned on showing him. I found out he was never registered and contacted Maura about it and she was unable to fix the issue. I had to register him ILP and not pure breed. Disappointing. read more

I would usually take my dog to gibson kennels in grafton it's a big farm and so clean but they had no openings recently so I took my dog to the stowe farm kennel. It was so last minute so I really didn't have time to look into it or check out the place. When I left I called my fiancé and told him I'm gonna be so upset if we pick up our dog (Saint Bernard) and he is covered in pee. It smelt like pee as soon as I walked in there. I was hesitant about leaving him there but I was hoping for the best. When I picked king up the girl told me my dog was dirty and they tried to give him a bath and he snapped at them. My dog goes to pet smart at least once a month and they never have said anything bad about him trying to do this. I thought my dog was just covered in dirt until I got into my car with him. He smelt like pee so bad it was horrible when I got home I realized his legs from top to bottom were covered in it and completely yellow. The day before we brought my dog here he just had gotten groomed at pet smart so I was very upset. I tried to wash him with the hose but I think we have to shave his legs because how saturated he was. So disappointing !! So I had to reschedule another appointment for a grooming session.
