My review today is based on my phone experience with Tamera. I called her salon today after having dried up my tears after an arms-length interaction with Per Dona Salon where they told my husband who'd inquired for me, that they didn't have anyone who could "cut ethnic hair." I was at a loss, worried that I wouldn't find someone to cut my hair, now that I live here in Mount Vernon as of a month ago (originally from Scottsdale, AZ). I was hurt by the arms-length interaction with Per Dona Salon, so pulled up my bootstraps, and wiped my tears. Then I called Spero. She was courteous, used endearing words with me, was patient although I caught her in the middle of lunch eating before she had a meeting in 10 minutes. She also helped me to pair my stylist preference up (helped me to understand her website) with patience, and also listened to my sob story about how the Per Dona Salon interaction made me feel. Tamera is a genuine person (no fluff) and shared her awesome story about why she chose to open Spero Skin Spa Salon. They Even have a barber stylist so my husband and I can go together for a wellness spa day since we live kind of far. Very unhappy with the service I received. I asked for my all over color touch-up to be lighter brown than what I had. I was brunette when I walked into the salon, and when I walked out my hair was black and red. It was not at all what I had asked for and they told me to come back in six weeks while I let it fade to get it fixed. I did not feel comfortable walking around with a hair color that I did not ask for. I emailed and called this salon multiple times asking to speak to the manager to discuss some sort of refund. They scheduled an appointment to get my hair fixed however it would be another 400 dollars without any guarantee that they would reimburse me for their mistake. It has been over two weeks and I have not heard back from them. At this point, I am very disappointed and I have lost all of my confidence in this salon. read more

I went to Spero Spa on October 15th, 2022. This was supposed to be a day spa for my birthday celebration and instead it was a disappointment and felt creeped out and disgusted. When I came in I was informed that I will not be able to receive a mud body wrap as booked as their shower wasn't working and was offered a salt scrub, instead. The scrub was ok and so was the facial. The sheets and the blankets were all old looking and ruggidy. Not the feeling of a quality spa. I was not informed what cosmetic products were used. That was the beginning of the disappointment. As noted in the phone call with the Spero Spa owner, the massage has not been anything like a typical massage deep tissue, as noted on the web site when I have booked it online. I was told by the owner that it was actually called "body work", although I have paid for a deep tissue massage. I was supposed to have the massage with a male therapist, Brian. The whole time during the massage this guy was moving my body like a swinging motion from left to right, and there was no deep tissue massage provided of any kind. I did not received the service of massage with deep tissue, as described on the web site. It was the worst massage I have experienced. Brian had awfully long nails and they were yellowish... looked like fungal infection and his shaving looked like he missed some spots under his nose....just creepy, altogether. Thank God, he was using the sheet the whole time while touching me. I have had a horrible experience and this was supposed to be my birthday relaxation day. In my opinion, I should have been reimbursed for that massage, as it was not a massage it was body work as the owner said and I did not pay for a body work, I wanted a massage. Their machine did not work to charge my card, so I had to spend time out of my day to talk to the owner. When I offered my feedback to the owner she kept calling me sweetie although I've noted I did not find that very respectful. She defended Brian saying everybody is happy with his so called "body work"... well, I was not, and it did not make a difference when I voiced that! BEWARE, when you pay for a massage at Spero spa you get a swinging motion by a creepy and dirty male therapist. I will never be back! To respond to the owner's response below: your response aims to diminish my capability to pay to divert from the concerns above-mentioned. This is typical of business who disregard their customers and do not address the issues presented. The truth is that when I went to Spero Spa I did not feel I received a quality of spa service and rather a mediocre experience. All the three credit cards I tried after, worked. It is quite interesting you are not responding to the concerns. There is no lashing out, I paid my bill when you have called. I hope other people do not experience what I experience with that massage... it was creepy!!! read more

The salon itself is adorable inside. They have a good set up and the front desk gals were all super friendly and attentive. I went only for a manicure. I don't know if it was a bad polish or what, but I was there for nearly 3.5 hours for just a regular mani - shape, buff, polish and that was it. It was for a special event so I decided to treat myself. I generally stay away from manicures because of the upkeep and it unfortunately doesn't last long. I was at the salon so long that the manicurist opted to do a top coat of gel to help it dry faster. The idea was great and seemed like it'd work. It did get me through my event, but then caused problems after. The manicure as a whole (after I left the salon) lasted from about 4:15-8:30pm....then the top gel layer slid off because the layers underneath hadn't dried. It also caused some ripples and bubbles. The gal who did them was personable and nice and I appreciated her doing what she could. However, for me to spend over $40 on my nails was a HUGE treat and it didn't even last 5 hours. This part was a big bummer. I emailed them the next morning to see if I could set something up to get it fixed and I never got a response, also a huge bummer. I'd consider going back to the salon for other services, but I don't think I'll ever get my nails done again. read more

She is totally focused on the client and thoroughly attends to every tense muscle in a way that makes the massage feel longer than an hour. I always leave feeling perfectly relaxed. read more

Well I went here all the way from Coupeville hoping that I made a good choice considering I read the reviews and they all seem to be really good. But when you ask for blond highlights to brighten up your hair, it doesn't mean you walk out of there with darker hair and pink tent. Very very disappointed because I can't afford a highlight and haircut very often because I am on a fixed income. When I asked the girl how long she been doing hair she said 3 years but only 5 months at that salon. I also pointed out the woman in the salon that had platinum hair and I said I don't want it quite that blond but close to it. I am so upset but I would walk out with pink tinted hair and the blond is more of a beige blond. The more I look at it the more I hate it. I don't know maybe the girl is color blind but I've never been more upset with my highlights if you want to call them that . It's obvious she doesn't know what she's doing read more

What a wonderful treat to spend an afternoon here. First of all the phone conversations were very welcoming and I could feel a warm welcoming smile over the course of the conversation. I went in for lash extensions. I was greeted and brought back. Laid down, she placed stickies on to secure my lower lashes. Then she gets up to "go get glue" and then comes back to inform me they ran out. Aren't you a big salon, that plans to be stocked to provide your clients with services they sign up for in advance? Then after I had booked an eyebrow waxing, my brows aren't too unruly but she stated "these don't need to be waxed, I'll just trim them." Every person I've gone to for a waxing at least cleans up my edges, and she wouldn't do it. Anyhow, the BIGGIE is she said she would call me when she got her glue order in, which never happened. It's been over two weeks or more and no phone call or voicemail stating "hey we got our glue in let's book an appointment!" I could not believe it! Sad and waste of my time. read more

My mom recommended that I try this place out. So I called earlier this week and made an appointment for today. All week I was super excited to cut of a couple of inches off and a color. I get there today they can't find my appointment I pull up my confirmation email that has today date and they said "I didn't know it's 100% the system's fault we have you for next week". You best believe I canceled next week's appointment. 0 out of 10 would not recommend. Don't count any appointment made at this place they will just change it no warning, no communication. I requested a deep tissue massage and told them of my problem areas. They was courteous and seemed receptive. The start of the massage felt like someone firmly poking you with their thumb. I assumed this was just a warm up process. I was WRONG. That continues the entire massage. Even after giving direction of how they could proceed the thumb poking continued. I've never received a massage without some type of lotion or oil to help the masseuse glide their hands across you. It was a dry, thumb probing, waste of money. Do not recommend. read more

Stay, FAR FAR AWAY if you want the same hairstylist and a Professional Salon that keeps appointments on time and in a timely manner! My poor Relative that i regrettably drove here several times endured over 6 different stylist, some that quit after 1 day, handed different stylist with little to no exp. as too what she wanted. Sometimes was told to wait for over an hour after set appointment in a waiting room. Took over 3 hrs. for a simple shampoo and set, and over 4 hrs. for a perm that came out frizzy and uneven, and not even styled after that length of time! Owner of the place came outside while waiting and had the gall to tell me i should wait over 8 hrs. if thats what it takes and how to take care of a family member and that i had no respect after they totally disrespected Her and myself and OUR time! I could go on and on but We are so done with this place! Would give a -5 review if we could and the OWNER is clueless as to how to run a business. I don't think they will be in business much longer! So I looked up their prices online, and they're great! So I called to book two facials and spoke with Tamara. She is an absolute angel. She got us in on a day that worked great for us, even with shorter notice. I wasn't sure what time I would be able to get off work and she adjusted her schedule to make it fit mine. I received gift certificates from my wonderful boyfriend for the Spero skin spa and salon. I was excited to go because I just moved to mount Vernon and hadn't found a salon yet. I was very pleased by the look and feel of the salon and the staff is really friendly and eager to give each client what they need and not pushy at all to sell products or services they don't. Samantha gave me a full high light and cut . It was exactly what I needed and wanted and blended well. She recommended Formula 18 to repair my hair , as I knew already I needed something to make it healthy again . My hair has honestly never looked or felt better. I even purchased the shampoo and conditioner. I know I've found my new stylist! Tamera, the owner, is extremely nice and really cares about each customer and loves making each client feel comfortable and beautiful. I received a specialty facial from her, my first ever! she was very knowledgeable, made me feel relaxed and did not try to give me a service I didn't need and was very careful with my dehydrated and inflamed skin. She even did her own research into my specific skin issues. My face looked 100 times better after I was done. I even had a break out which was pretty noticeable and I could barely see it afterward! I returned the next day and was again greeted with friendly faces . I received a relaxing massage from Nina who was very gentle and made me feel very comfortable. The room was very nice and cozy . I also got a Spa manicure from Jessi. Super sweet and funny girl! I felt welcomed and comfortable in the room. She did a great job on my nails giving me a gel French manicure. *disclaimer: this Spa/ Salon has only been open for 9 months and are in the process of setting up an actual manicure station in the salon area. Had my first ever facial from Tammy a couple weeks ago and it was fantastic. My skin really needed some TLC and Tammy knew exactly how to treat my clogged pores and "congested" skin. I misunderstood that the spa is not intended for someone only wanting a pedicure...but I had it and am not recommending it to others. The room was uncomfortable for both me and the beautician who gave me the pedicure...I sat on a chair like an accent chair in one's living room, and the poor woman who worked one me was hunched over a large copper dish which she had to haul in with a rope since the water supply is elsewhere. There were no bottles of polish displayed, but the woman had some in a decorative box which did not allow view of the colors, only the tops. And the color I wanted (nude or blush or any light beige-y polish) was not one of the selections. So-o-o-o, I paid $45 plus tip for a clear polish pedi I received while sitting uncomfortably in a straight chair. The women I dealt with were very nice, but I am unhappy with my experience. read more
