I My boyfriend scheduled me a surprise appt for my birthday to have a cut & color. He scheduled the appt over a weeks ahead of time & informed the ship owner (Melissa) I would either want a color or a cut & color, that he wasn't sure which I would pick, but the stylist reassured him they would accommodate either & "take care of me" for the surprise. She made him feel as if she has the appt arranged for either service (since after all it was a superset) Fast fwd to the day of my birthday appt, my boyfriend drops me off. The stylist aka Melissa who happems to also be the shop owner, then proceeds to inform me we only had an hour booked and could only do a haircut. Offers no apology, no care, no concern what so over. Just lazily keeps saying all we can do is a haircut.... When I explained the situation & understanding of how the appt was booked her response was literally "I'm sorry that they told you that but we would never book an appt without knowing" As is this surprise was made up.... Completely unwilling to work this out for a new client. Completely unapologetic to the situation & offers no fix to said issue. No offer of another appointment.. In a time where small businesses are dependent upon their customers, Melissa the shop owner sure did screw her way out of $400 this day. Her customer service was horrible. She offered no real apology, no ounce of empathy & no desire to try and fix what they messed up. Simple lazy response to what was supposed to be a special day. I wouldn't give a dime to a salon that gives no effort in making their clients happy. And this all falls on the shop owner. What an example you are setting for your employees to follow Melissa I can assure you, treat enough people this way and your salon will be non existent. On a brighter note...I only had to take a short walk down the Main Street to find a salon that was more than willing to take Genisis services & you better believe the whole salon heard of the experience you just gave, Melissa. As a neighboring salon, they could not believe you took no effort in making This right. Glad to not have given you a dime. read more

So since nobody wants to answer my message I wanna come on here and say I went to genesis salon yesterday to get my hair done with Rachelle she foiled me up and ended up burning my hair after she took the foil out everything hurt shampooing brushing styling was ridiculously painful I felt a burning sensation and didn't know what was wrong with my scalp she styled me and didn't mention my scalp was extremely red and swollen with blood and she charged me!! Until I got home amd asked my boyfriend to take pictures of my head because it would stop throbbing! And I was shocked to see how read and bloody my scalp was ! I tried messaging Tiffany the owner and got no response she's just been ignoring my messages this is not okay! And I demand my money back read more

Ashley gave me a malibu treatment/color correction, and she did a fantastic job. My hair went from a terrible coloring job at another salon to a dark brown with caramel highlights thanks to her! She is incredibly kind and skilled in hair maintenance. She is very honest about pricing and results, and she clearly cares about her clients. I can tell that Ashley only wants what is best for the client. I advise making a reservation with her! read more

Their new spot in olde town Mt. Vernon is tranquil and sophisticated without being stuck-up or uncomfortable (we've all been to those spas: no bueno, and that's not this place). This team of skilled technicians makes this fabulously cool salon what it is, and not only has my hair always turned out just right, everyone I've brought here (of which there have been many) has been beautified to perfection. -- MY DETAILS -- This salon is truly a local staple: it was founded by the Mom of my go-to colorist Colleen. It's now changed locations, names, and hands over the years, but it is and always will be a family-style run business. In the years I've gotten my hair done by this team, I've NEVER ONCE seen any client leave unhappy, and I've been a client since I moved here in 2007... so long ago that was at their original location: where "FIVE GUYS BURGERS & FRIES" sits in Burlington! Several stars go to my miracle-worker Colleen. She took me from bland mousey brown to my true self: a vibrant ginger! She and Tiffany (Tiff is great at cuts, esp for both sexes) also helped get my style back after surgeons literally shaved half my head straight up the back (no joke... brain surgery does that to you). They got me back looking decent even when I felt nowhere near it. Colleen has been patient and kind with my forgetfulness & headaches & pain that causes me to reschedule far too often. The entire staff is friendly and fun, and many of whom I've since learned are childhood friends, which adds to the calm, friendly atmosphere here. So whether you're a new face or a long-time client, you'll feel welcomed as well as fantastic. I've really been struggling with whether or not to write a review; every time I do my hair in the morning, though, I have the desire to put my blow dryer down and write it. I came in as a new client, as my previous stylist of about 10 years moved to Seattle. I asked for a trim, just to clean up the existing style. She asked how much to cut, and we decided on 1/2". She didn't ask much about my hair and it's quirks (straight and fine, with waves and cowlicks in the underneath layer), so I told her. I also told her what works best when cutting my hair -- cutting it layer by layer. She looked at me like I was nuts. I should have left at that point, but unfortunately did not. As I sat there, she was hacking away endlessly as hair was falling to the floor around me. When she finished up, I was afraid to look, but as suspected, I now have a VERY short haircut that is butchered and nearly impossible to style. She cut off at least 3". I'm sure it will take nearly a full year to grow out to something I can work with. I was nearly in tears when I left. The salon is also rather dingy and the area by her station was definitely not appropriately clean. AVOID this salon. read more

I have been a loyal customer with my stylist Raschell for 4 years and I will never return to this salon ever again. I was there, as usual, for an all over blonde retouch and she applied the lightener and put me under a hot dryer. I have lost a GOOD amount of my hair and have chemical cuts on my part which stick straight up and are about 1/4 inch long. There is no way to fix the damage she caused my hair. After the appointment I was pulling chunks out of my hair. I have spent so many years and so much money on maintaining my blonde hair and in one visit it is all ruined. It will take me years to repair the damage she has done to my hair and all I got was a refund for the service. I literally cry looking in the mirror at my hair and how I have lost 50% of the thickness that my hair use to be and my hair was not thick to begin with. read more

I am very disappointed with the lack of respect that this salon has for their potential clients. Especially ones, that have been patiently waiting. They are grossly unprofessional, especially the Diva, Giovanna. I have been seeing The world famous Tracy Cunningham is Los Angeles for many years. She has done my hair for all of my events and performances, and I have never been told that I can't get in because she is "too busy." Just a little background, Tracy Cunningham is also Jennifer Lopez's , and the Kardashians (just to name a few) hair consultant. This is just to solidify the importance of her career. For Giovanni to say she is "too busy"is complete nonsense. We are all busy, even my busy Hollywood life is busy. I, unlike her, don't have time to post on Instagram the silliness that she has time to post. Clearly, she wouldn't be scrounging for dollars, if she just works smarter and choose her clients wisely. I feel rather lucky to have my hair done here! I have been trying to go copper red and it has been unsuccessful, until I met with Giovanna. My hair was in for a treat! Gio works some magic when it comes to hair and it's obvious from her many followers just how good of a job she does! This is a busy lady with a young family and she's consistently there for her clients day in and day out with a smile on her face! I highly recommend this salon and it is worth the wait! I honestly should have done more research. I booked an app for a spiral perm, was given a regular perm instead and it didnt take. At the salon she said it had and I thought perhaps it would curl differently over time. I followed her directions for products etc and it didnt take...like at all. My hair is vaguely wavy and not in great condition. I wish I'd realized it was A) the wrong type of perm and B) hadn't taken in the salon. I would have spoken up otherwise. I should have educated myself first so I could have prevented one of those things. read more

A little anxious about getting my hair cut it has been over 2 years of putting it off because of the fear of another bad do. The welcoming vibe and clean facility were reassuring. Colleen was so nice and chatted it up like we were old friends having coffee catching up. She had an understanding of curly hair and it's texture so she knew what not to do and I am proudly displaying an amazing hair cut that lays just right no matter what! My 4 year old daughter also got her hair cut here I'm not sure of the woman's name but she also did a great job and my very opinionated daughter expressed how much of a nice lady she was and how she talked with her like a grown up! I would give this place a 0/5 stars. I got a horrible brow wax from Christy. They ended up being super uneven and thin where it looked like I just shaved them eith a razor. I am never going back to this place! Super incompetent estheticians and not worth the money!! read more
