In my opinion, the best computer repair shop in the entire area. Ahmed is truly customer oriented more so than some other repair shops in the area I've had the displeasure working with before. He's easy to work with, extremely knowledgeable, and doesn't us a lot of tech jargon in an attempt to impress you. He worked for HP which was why I brought him my HP ProBook 4540S for installation of a new keyboard. I was going to do that myself but decided that a professional should do this instead of an automotive gearhead. I first took the computer to Geek Squad since I'm on the annual tech program. I was told that the keyboard I had was fastened in with "plastic rivets" and once those were removed/destroyed, a new keyboard couldn't be installed. This contradicted two online instructions one of which was published by HP. Naturally, they suggested I buy a new computer. There are no such rivets used by HP. I immediately took my laptop along with the keyboard I purchased to Sphinx where I had some tech problems with my old Lenovo resolved before. First, Ahmed checked his database and confirmed that it was the correct keyboard for my unit. He finished the replacement in less time than estimated which was a pleasant surprise. When I went to pick it up, he also ran a diagnostic on my hard drive and showed me the result...100% function. But, since my laptop is 10 years old, he recommended upgrading to a new 1 Terabyte SSD (Solid State Drive); something I wanted to do but not sure if it was doable with my ProBook. Plus, he will transfer everything from my old drive to the new one. All this at a very reasonable cost. I'll be scheduling this upgrade with Sphinx ASAP. read more

I bought a Dell laptop about a year ago which was a nice machine for a while. One day I went to open it up and CRACK, the right hinge breaks. It continued to 'work' for a while but eventually died a short time later. I looked around and took a chance on Ahmed at Sphinx computer. The shop got some good reviews and when I dropped the laptop off Ahmed was very professional and offered advice and ideas on less expensive paths to take which which was nice as I expected an expensive repair. One suggestion for the new hinges was to loosen the grip, so to speak, so the screen moves easier and doesn't stress the base. Plus, open it from the center, not the corner. Simple things you don't think of sometimes. With that good experience I took a desktop unit to Ahmed which had recently become unstable. We talked about what symptoms where happening, unstable once in sleep mode, and he recommended an upgrade to a solid state drive since the original was getting a bit old. Again, expecting an expensive repair was pleasantly surprised with a reasonable bill. Do not hesitate to reach out to Ahmed and ask some questions about your problem. I would leave six stars if I could. Sphinx went above and beyond to make sure that i was satisfied. Saad was extremely friendly and intelligent. I origionally went in to get my motherboard replaced, and that was done quickly and efficiently. However, when I tried to add more RAM, a lot of problems came up. I returned to ask for assistance in choosing the correct RAM, and after there was a problem reading that RAM, they offered to replace my motherboard again because it had caused me so many problems. Saad called to keep me updated on the status, and if they were encountering any additional problems and what they were doing to fix them. A computer repairman is like a mechanic; you really need to trust them. I believe the people at Sphinx know what theyre doing, and love what they do, and I will definitely be going back if I ever need computer maintenence. read more

3 year old Toshiba Laptop died. Brought it to this place, Saad helped me out. Got the call the next day, motherboard likely dead, repair costs MAY exceed $200. I'm out no money so far, as diagnosis was a freebie! Decided to purchase one of his refurbished laptops as a replacement. Wife and I picked one out, and it was ready the next day as promised. Saad did an excellent job setting up the new computer, he installed a fresh Win7, media codecs, FireFox, open Office, etc. The computer was ready to rock when I brought it home, no futzing around to get things going. I'm impressed with his service, he does what he says, offers helpful suggestions without pressing and fair pricing. This is such a great store they know exactly what they are doing and are nice too! My laptop cord broke somehow so I took it back to where I bought it but they basically told me oh computer discontinued (even though it is less than 1 year old) and good luck getting a cord call the manufacturer. Really? My husband called Sphinx Computer, we went in the next day. Ahmed checked to make sure that the cord did charge the computer before we left and it now works perfectly!! I don't typically write reviews but Saad and Sphinx gave me exceptional service that is definitely worth the mention. My computer went down at a time when I needed it most. I called around to many different repair facilities, explained my issue and got the same answerex, 2 days and no real estimate of the repair cost. I called Sphinx and was told of their flat rate service, which covered a wide range of repair issues. After getting me in and out quickly, Saad even dialed into my system remotely and helped me fix 2 issues with one of my reloaded programs, at no extra charge. That is service at its best! Brought my laptop in to Sphinx as the battery was not charging. Found that the area where you plug into had a crack. They were able to repair in a reasonable amount of time. I not think twice about bringing any other computer issues to them. Very courteous to work with on solving your computer problems. P.S. Had to return the next day as my new adapter that I purchased elsewhere would not charge my laptop. I was able to purchase a replacement that worked. My old/new adapter will be going back to where I purchased from as while I was in the store we tried it on another laptop and it would not charge it either. read more

Had a great easy and affordable experience coming to Sphinx computer. I inquired through yelp for their services I gave the Owner a brief description of what was going on with my laptop. It was just not getting good WiFi connection and was not connecting at all to my internet. He quoted me on yelp which was reasonable, but when he looked further into it he gave me a much easier and very affordable solution! Gave me a WiFi adapter to hook to my computer and use to connect to the internet l, which I still use to this day!
