This place is definitely a hole in the wall. It's operated as a mom and pop shop! Service and food were okay. The portion for the naan bread was huge, definitely perfect for sharing!

We moved to the neighborhood and have been looking forward to trying this Afghani eatery. This modern looking "hole-in-the-wall" serves amazingly delicious food! The meat (halal) was perfectly cooked. Service was a little slow but not a deal breaker. Complementary all-you-can-drink chai tea was a nice touch. We will definitely be back to try other dishes.

What an absolutely delicious meal!!! I can't say enough about Spice Kabab. The food was extremely well proportioned and very savory. We had the Lamb and Chicken Biriyani plates along with the chicken wrap. OMG, super satisfying and it made me want more. My only issue is that I live 20 miles away. The restaurant is uber clean which included the restrooms. These owners are very conscientious about cleanliness which made us feel even more at home here. I've included pictures of our meals. There was so much leftover that we had again the next night.

Best Food! Best Service and great people. Will come again. The beef and the lamb was amazing

The service is awesome. When I first come in, I have the habit to wipe all the tables and chairs with wet wipe(even though the table is clean by naked eyes), the waiter immediately bring out clorox wipe to wipe all the tables again for us. We came here on Sunday afternoon, the environment of the restuarant is not crowded and clean. We can slowly eat our food comfortably. The food is nice!, my daughter finished the Naan Beef itself and finished the cucumber side! The biriani is yummy too, but a bit spicy for my daughter, i love it's spiciness though. The lamb kebab is so tender and juict. There is some lamb smell so my faughter cannot stand the smell, but I love it though. The lentils side also taste nice surprising, I'm not a lentils fans but I can finish the whole thing. The biryani are huge, we have to make it togo.

I love the 50's diner decor, may have been there previously. The lentils were good, rice decent and the wraps are so massive. My son couldn't finish. A little too spicy for him. The potatoes filled bread was good as well, but not worth 80 something dollars. Very very pricey for the food. Service was good, just a little confused w decor and food, when walking in, I feel as though I'm grabbing a burger with fries and a shake.

They have a good amount of Middle Eastern groceries, I saw a few American items, and even a few Russian items. They have kitchenware, they have dried fruits, they have cookies and pastries, etc. I bought a bag of dried figs. I thought they were a bit high, pricewise, but they were very, very good. I ordered from here two days in a row. Both times, I asked for my food mild. Both days, the main dish was not spicy at all. The first time, they told me it would be about 15 minutes for my food to be ready. That was fine, I had the time. I had the veggie Samosas, And the manto, which are dumplings with beef and spices, topped with a sour yogurt sauce and lentils. I believe there was also some pepper on the top. I had enough for two meals. Everything was very good. The samosas were delicious, and didn't seem that spicy when I were eating them, but my lips were definitely tingling afterwards. I didn't mind at all. They came with a chutney, but I didn't have any. I've never really cared for chutney. Chutney is definitely an acquired taste. The Manto, was also extremely good. The dumplings were tender, I liked the filling, and while yes, the yogurt sauce was a little bit sour, it was not overly so. It complemented the dish very well. I liked the lentils, and whatever spice it was that came with them on the top. The dish was great. The next day, I decided to order ahead from DoorDash. I did pickup, because they are not part of the dash pass program, and so you have to pay a delivery fee even if you are a dash pass member. This time I ordered the beef samosas, and the qabili palaw, which is like a biryani. It had fragrant, rice, roasted carrots, raisins, and a lamb shank. I also ordered the. Fini, which is a traditional Afghan custard. They called me back to tell me that they were out of the fini, and out of the beef samosas, so I had the veggie samosas again and I ordered the Gulab, jamun which I really like. The main dish was again a home run. The rice was tender, fragrant and delicious, I liked the carrots, and the raisins added a pop of sweetness. The lamb shank was very large, tender, and delicious. It had a large bone that I could use as a handle, to eat it "Fred Flintstone style." :). Again, I had enough for two meals. While the gulab jamun was tender and had plenty of the sweet syrup on the inside, they only gave me one. I had thought they would at least give me two of them. The price of the food both days was very reasonable, and I want to come back and try more things. Thank you.

It was slow tonight when I came in so the service was prompt and the man behind the counter was very friendly and asked several questions I had about the menu and about halal food in general. He taught me a few new things about middle eastern food and he was very helpful in that regard. I ordered the gyro plate and at the last minute decided to just eat in rather than take-out. So, I had a seat and the man at the counter brought out a very delicious chicken and corn chowder which was an unexpected surprise and I really enjoyed it greatly. Then, as I finished the soup, he brought out the gyro plate which was stacked generously with rice, meat, sauce with lettuce, tomato and onions. The meat was delicious, the Greek tzatziki cucumber sauce was very good also. Overall, for a very reasonable cost of about $15 I had a very satisfying meal that I struggled to even finish. Very good value. I will return with the family and I can recommend Darya to anyone looking for a meal! I did notice some very negative reviews, and I suspect that this could be related to cultural misunderstandings perhaps? English is clearly not the first language for the people running this restaurant so I think it's important to understand that perhaps it's a good policy to level expectations to that fact.

They just buy everything at a discount and pile it up and sit on it if somebody buys it. Big advice try anything before you buy it even better don't even try just walk away. The meat doesn't look fresh either. It's really a sad affair what happened with all the afghanis coming into Sacramento, they bought all the grocery stores and restaurants to open Afghani restaurants and grocery stores, there is one on every damn block and sometimes two or three across from each others. How many Afghani restaurants or grocery stores do we need? They can survive making $100 a year and write off taxes. We no longer have Mediterranean food meaning food from the Mediterranean like Lebanese or Syrian or Jordanian food, it all has been taken over by afghanis and they pretend to cook Mediterranean food when it's not. Afghani food is primarily meat and rice and they wouldn't know a vegetable to save their lives when Mediterranean food is primarily vegetables balanced with some meat. Stay away from this rotten place and be cautious about other Afghani stores as well, it's pretty much the same quality and story.

I was looking for my first and main meal of the day and decided to try the new place. The restaurant was more bright and open than I remember as a Chinese restaurant. I liked the open, airy style of the new place. I was the only customer when I arrived at around 1:15 on a Tuesday - the week before Christmas. It seems that one orders from the order desk from one of 2 photocopied menus, pay, seat one's self and food will be prepared and delivered. There were no wall menus or table menus - just the two at the front desk. There seemed to be a nice mix of foods available from different culinary styles: Turkish, Chinese, Afghan, Iranian, etc. I settled on a chicken and rice dish: Palow There was lots of rice and lots of Barberries. In the mound of rice I was able locate a roasted chicken leg. A separate plate included cucumber, lettuce, red cabbage, tomato slices, and red and yellow bell peppers with a chunk of lemon. I was not told how to eat these things or if this was a salad. I squeezed the lemon over the tomato and cucumber, cut up all of the veggies and added them to the rice! It turned out that everything was tasty and delicious. I liked the food and am glad that I did not read the reviews prior to coming because, since I was hungry, I may have thought twice! I might have been able to do with a few less barberries because of the tartness, but adding the chopped veggies seemed to downplay the tartness. The rice was nice and fluffy and combined well with everything else. The chicken was mildly seasoned, juicy, and combined well with the other flavors and textures. I noticed that the platter my entree was served on had a Chinese motif and was probably included with sale of the business. I have no problem with that. However, I do wish water - other than bottled water - could have been offered. I will return at some point to see how they are doing.
