Late night eats, we dropped in "Al Cuisine" one of the 300,000 halal kabob joints brightly lit with 4 foot fluorescent tubes missing a few letters. That's why we couldn't find "Royal Cuisine." Bare bones ambiance with a LCD menu screen that highlighted pics of protein plates and platters showing the same exact garnishes of rice, beans, cuke salad and flatbread on each plate. Almost everything is under $20. The one staff was pleasant and patient explaining the best he could what was included in the combo platter: 2 of each kabob, salad, bread, rice, beans $32. Ordering it to go we opened up the heavy parcel and saw 2 exact containers wondering if we ordered 2 of each. But no, it's the combo of marinated chicken, beef and lamb that were separately marinated and charcoal grilled. Great clean flavors, not overly spiced nor overcooked. Beans and rice were cooked correctly but a little bland, that needed yoghurt or chili paste for moisture. Good sized portions that were actually lean in nature, the cucumbers, tomatoes and dill helped bring the moisture together. Flatbread was serviceable but no oil or seasoning. read more

It was okay. I'd recommend the meat grills, however, which they cook in front of the restaurant. The pictures they have on the menu are not the same esp for the sides. I thought treatment wasn't as friendly towards females at least my experience of it. No ice for drinks. read more

I ordered the Beef Koobideh and it was delicious and flavorful. It came with 3 skewers of beef served over a bed of pomegranate basmati rice accompanied by a tomato/onion and chickpea sauce (2 separate sauces for clarity) The meat was very juicy and tender and was a delight to eat alongside the rice and toppings. The cashier was a little reserved but extremely helpful with regard to assisting a first timer with what to order. Overall wait time was about 15mins for my order. Great place for inexpensive Persian/Afghan food! We ordered the mixed grill platter, lamb shank, eggplant, and ghormeh sabzi. Our favorite was the beef koobideh! They brought out a huge bowl of bread which paired well when dipped with the eggplant and sabzi. The lamb shank was tender and juicy. Service was friendly and welcoming. The place is a little hidden. Absolutely delicious! My partner's parents recently discovered this place and came back multiple times in one week - and I have to say I understand why. While the decoration and look of the space is simple, the food and service is top-notch. We made a point to order both lamb and beef kebabs, eggplant and then dessert. Each dish was delicious, and a good balance between freshness and flavour. While both beef and lamb were tender and juicy, the family vote was towards the lamb, with the eggplant order also being a crowd favourite at our table. A big portion for me, so I had leftovers but my partner nearly cleared his plate. Definitely coming back, we even got some food to go for lunch tomorrow! Amazing! This hidden should be on your "must try" list. The food is delicious and absolutely fresh. I actually watched them cook my chicken kabobs on the grill, out in front of the restaurant. They cook food to order, what a rare treat these days. I tried the chicken kabobs and the eggplant. They were terrifically tasty. On my next visit I will try the lamb and/or beef kabobs. I am always so excited to discover new places to eat and I am even more psyched that this gem is so close to my house. My husband and I had dinner at Royal Cuisine last night just on the basis of a Google search and the reviews that accompanied it. We figured, why not try a new place? We're so glad we did-- the food was unbelievable. Everything is freshly cooked to order so patience is a must. But it is so worth the wait (which wasn't really that long-- 20 min). I had the lamb kabob and my husband had the beef koobideh (I only got pics of my food but trust me when I tell you the koobideh is delicious--and you get three good sized skewers). We were not expecting the amount of food that arrived at our table. A big basket of delicious Afghan bread was the first to arrive, along with some saffron tea with mint and lemon. Each of our entrees came with a tomato/onion/cucumber salad, a tasty chickpea stew, and fluffy basmati rice with saffron and mulberries. There was also a yogurt herb sauce which was great with both the meat and the bread. We also ordered frini, an Afghan custard flavored with cardamom and pistachio (dessert is non-negotiable). Everything was so flavorful and well-balanced. The service was top notch and the family that runs the restaurant was so warm and kind. It was such a great experience and we will most certainly be back! They've only been open for 8 months so I hope people try them out and support them. It's located in a little nondescript strip mall between a Goodwill and a karate dojo-- as many great eateries tend to be. The lesson here: venturing out of your comfort zone is a good thing. After several years of the store front being closed with a big glowing green sign, I've waited patiently for this location to reopen. And when they did, wow. Not an ounce of disappointment to be had. The owner had such a kindness about him! He was wonderful to talk to and hear his very interesting story. This place is wonderful. The meat is tender, juicy and flavorful.
