I noticed that a lot of people of Indian descent occupy most of the tables and that is always a good sign that the food is authentic. When you notice that most of the customers are Indian, you know this place is good and authentic. However, maybe it was too authentic or we're just wimps! My friends and I ordered a variety of dishes so we could try a bit of everything. While everything tasted good, it was overwhelmingly spicy. Other than my friends' kids, we all can usually handle spicy foods, but even the Level 1 spicy was difficult to continue eating. I don't think they got their spice levels right; the level 1 and level 2 Tikka masala tasted the same, yet the heat felt more like a level 4. My friends spent nearly $80 on their meals for themselves and their kids, but the only ting they could manage to eat was the naan. I gave them a rating of 3 not only because the confusing spice levels, but mostly because the service was okay. We ordered Long Island Iced tea, but our server completely forgot about it and eventually brought it to us after our food came out with all the ice melted. With all the spice we're eating, I also would think they would be a bit more attentive with refilling our drinks, too. If you enjoy spicy foods, I definitely recommend this spot. But holy moly, "America Mild" was still too spicy making noses run and tummies gurgle. I was not impressed with the dosa but the Ginger Chicken was pretty good! Every time I give this place another chance it is an utter disappointment. Three orders of $6 naan is one piece per order apparently. I also ordered "american mild" for my toddler who is typically obsessed with chicken tikka masala. I couldn't even let him eat it. This place is famous amongst my friend group for all the wrong reasons. To this day, Spice Mantra remains the single most awful dining experience the four of us have ever had in all of our separate lives. After seeing all of the ads promoting this restaurant, we drove a little over an hour to check out what all of the hype was about. Upon arrival, the service was immediately quite strange, our server took awhile to greet us and then really only spoke to one member of our group from that point forward. We ordered a pretty vast variety of dishes, all of which took quite a long time to arrive, while we watched people after us get seated and served with no issue or delay. One of our friends ordered a specialty drink which took over half the meal to show up, and when it finally did it was watered down and melted. The most puzzling thing however, was our waitress starring down our table for most of our visit yet still being extremely inattentive when we needed anything. It made the entire experience feel pretty uncomfortable and unwelcoming. As for the food we had really high expectations coming into it because of all the positive reviews we'd seen online, so we were excited to try it anyway. Aesthetically everything came out pretty much as promised, which I think made it that much more disappointing when each thing was even worse than the last. We started with the Onion Pakoda and Punjabi Samosas and both were unlike any we'd ever had before in the worst way possible, yet we still had faith for our entrees. The mango chicken came in a very small portion size compared to our other dishes which was slightly confusing, but our butter chicken is where things really went wrong. I've had better butter chicken sauce from a grocery store jar than what we were served here. It had absolutely zero flavor and was essentially just chicken in plain yogurt. We also ordered the Spice Mantra Special platter and most of the food came out charred and burnt. At first, we all tried to politely eat our dishes as not to seem too distraught amongst ourselves, but eventually the truth came out when we all sat completely silent and starring off into the distance, at a loss for how to continue to even pretend we were enjoying our meal. After leaving nearly all of the food on the table, waiting forever to pay our bill, which only came to us after tracking down any employee we could find who was willing to help us, and each of us spending upwards of $50+, we left this place still very hungry and extremely confused. I cannot think of a bigger waste of my time or money than the night we spent here. There are many other great Indian restaurants in and around the city, do not let the Instagram and Tiktok reviews fool you, this place is not worth it unless they're paying you to eat their food, and maybe not even then. If nothing else this experience made a long lasting impression on all of us and is certainly one we will not soon forget. read more

The food is a 5 but service after your food arrives... no refills offered, even on the water. Side note, no ice in the water or the sodas. We sat, done eating, for 10-15 minutes while trying to wave down our waiter for boxes and our checks. mild,for me, clocks in at a 2.5-3. if you want 0-1, you'll need to communicate that in some way. After getting takeout for this new restaurant earlier in the week, I jumped at the chance to go back and sit down for dinner with my husband on our night out. The whole strip mall seems to be turning into an Asian food destination, and I'm here for it! The bar tender went over and beyond to explain 3 Indian beers to us and make his recommendations. He also brought a complimentary snack to go along with our choices. Being that we're down-home suburban American folks, we had quite a few questions about their extensive menu. Some pictures or descriptions would be nice, but the staff was more than willing to explain and answer our questions regarding dietary restrictions. We had the chicken lollipop for an appetizer- mini chicken drummies. Very good and tasty! My husband stuck with his usually- Butter Chicken- yum! And I chose the special lamb curry which was full of spices and flavor. We were fortunate to be invited to the soft opening of this new restaurant near Mid Rivers Mall. The restaurant has an amazing menu filled with delicious Indian cuisine. Our waiter, Matish (Matt), was so friendly and was very attentive to our large party. We also met Jay the restaurant manager & he too was so kind & worked hard to ensure our party was well taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious & everyone was raving about the dishes they ordered. We had appetizers, main courses & dessert. I had the Spice Mantra Lamb Curry and it was wonderful! The portions are plentiful & you can enjoy sharing dishes to taste all the flavors. You can taste all the love that goes into these authentic dishes. My meal had to be the most nicely prepared and packaged I've had from takeout in awhile. The curries came in their own little containers. The samosa sat on a bed of shredded cabbage and carrot. The naan beautifully cut and wrapped nicely. I appreciate the effort to make my meal visually appealing even though it was takeout. The menu is sizable offering a great deal of variety. I have my go-to meals for Indian takeout. I went with the Punjabi samosa which were unusually spicy. For entrees butter chicken curry at a spice level of one was rich and mild. The basmati rice was as full of flavor. The chicken tika masala was delicious. Veggies and chicken chunks in a rich sauce at a spice level of two added the right amount of heat to the dish.
