We love our Indian food - MILD and Persis delivered on taste & heat. The decor is just a clean cafe with touches of India, nothing fancy. Service is friendly, yet slightly spread thin. The hostess on phone when we enter & when we left was off putting, but not a deal breaker. Food was tasty. Our favorites were the shrimp appetizer- a nice combination of heat & sweet. Plus, the Persis Special Shrimp Curry and the Butter Chicken was very yummy. We would recommend the Naan combo basket and the Mango -Yogurt drink, too. So good! I've never had Indian food. My friend ordered butter chicken, tikka masala that came with two huge helpings of rice and different flavored bread. So so yummy! Located on Bryan Rd. Between Lake St. Louis and O'Fallon, this location has been multiple Indian restaurants. I used to patron this establishment when it was known as Tandoori King, and I thought it was good then! Now it's known as Persis Grill and it's even better! They updated the interior to give it more of a modern feel and offer all you can eat buffet dining inside. I got my food to go so didn't get to try the buffet options, but the food I did order was amazing! Best Samosas I've ever had! They're giant and have a delicious dough shell filled with potatoes and peas that go great dipped in their mint and cilantro sauce! The chicken saag was full of flavor with the chicken being moist and delectable. It had just the right amount of spice that added to the dish without overpowering the flavor. Both my dishes were prepared at a medium heat level with the saag being a bit spicier than the Aloo Gobi Marsala. The Marsala was also delicious, offering a vegetarian option with potatoes and cauliflower to pair with my chicken saag. They do close from 2:30-5pm so schedule accordingly! read more

I've eaten at Persis Indian Grill a few times and the food is so flavorful and the meats so tender, the customer service has also been really great. They recently added upscale touches to their interior that makes the dine in experience more enjoyable too - large comfortable booths, modern decor, etc. A few of my favorite dishes - Shrimp Tikka, Baby Corn Manchurian, Chicken Dum Biryani, Pepper Chicken, Garlic Naan & for dessert the Apricot Delight! They have a full bar including Indian beers & sodas, I like the Taj Mahal (lagar) and Thums Up (stronger version of coke-a-cola). Wow, this was my 2nd time to Persis Indian Grill (after many years) and I left feeling just as pleased, if not better! It is NOT a fabrication: Persis makes the BEST garlic naan bread I have EVER had! There is loads of garlicky deliciousness and it tastes so wonderful with the rice and dishes. The food was delightful and had great portions. Also, is this the largest beer I've ever consumed in one sitting?! Perhaps. Thanks, Persis! I'll be back (and sooner, next time!) for more. I am a huge fan of the lamb curry from Persis! The spiciest level is just the perfect slightly-too-spicy kind of spicy that I love. I do wish they would give a bit more rice with the entree, considering how spicy and how much curry they give (love that!) an appropriate portion of rice would be appreciated. I have not had a chance to dine in, however the interior is simple and clean. The host is always quick to help and helps me promptly. read more

The food is good nothing special. But the service is horrible. We were only one of three tables Food come out in waves for a group of six. The dosa comes out first then 15 minutes later another entree or two make an appearance finally 40 minutes after the dosa arrives the final two entrees make an arrive. The waitress only came to take the order and deliver the order. Never refilled water, never asked if we wanted more drinks or deserts. The insult is asking for a tip after a 15% service charge. Nice people and great food. We have been coming here since the name changed and long before that. My only issue is that they do not havea chicken korma on the menu. I have always eaten in, and it's a pretty clean place with plenty of parking. I REALLY enjoy the breakfast dosa - served after 10am on Friday and Saturdays. The food was fresh, hot, delicious and plentiful. We did a takeout of several dishes at different spice levels and were pleased with how the order was taken, repeated back to ensure it was correct. Everything was ready on time as stated. I highly recommend the tandoori chicken here as it is some of the best I have had in years. The lamb seekh kebabs were a bit dry. Everything else including the saag paneer and lamb curry was on point. The service was excellent and although it was take out and considering how service in some businesses has degraded we were pleasantly surprised. This is one of many restaurants we have visited in and around St. Louis, Missouri. And they're truly setting the national standard. Visited this place the first time (after reading through the Yelp reviews) with an understanding that the friendliness of the staff wasn't what I was going for. The food was good but nothing out of the ordinary or spectacular from other Indian restaurants in the area. In fact, they offer plain white rice with their meal instead of Indian rice with spices like other restaurants. You pay $10 if you want the good rice....and that's after they confuse you so much about what you're asking for! Tonight we ordered takeout. They were way behind. Two customers were extremely irritated and had been waiting over 1/2 hour. They didn't alert us when our food was ready, so wasted time waiting instead. Only gave us 2 of our 3 meals. Communication is poor as well as customer service. The food is expensive but good. Portions are average. If you can find another Indian restaurant in the area, by all means try there first. Otherwise, you can give this one a shot knowing your food will taste good but it might cost you some hassle. read more

We got 2 orders of Chicken Tikka Masala. The temperature was medium which was spicy enough for us. Great flavors. I only wish we got more meat instead of so much rice. This place was yummy! 100% recommend. I don't remember if Indian culture is more relaxed when it comes to table service, but this isn't a place where they immediately come and get a drink order as soon as you sit down, but that is only based on my first and only visit. Maybe it's better other nights, but this place wasn't super-busy, so maybe not??? But I'll be back to give them another try, for sure. With that being said, the food, the most important thing to me, was amazing! We ordered some naan, Gobi 65, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Butter Paneer (veg version of Butter Chicken). The Gobi 65 is a fried cauliflower dish and they were better than any wings I've ever had. They were saucy, yet still had a fried crunchiness about them. Naan was warm and fresh. And both entrees were served super hot! I'm a vegetarian, my boyfriend is not. And while both the chicken and paneer were good, even my boyfriend thought my Butter Paneer was tastier than the Chicken Tikka Masala - I whole-heartedly agreed. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is that the restaurant wasn't the cleanest. Menus were a little crusty, and the tables were wiped down, but maybe not as well as they could have been. And the atmosphere really felt more like an ice cream parlor. It just wasn't as cozy as I would've liked. Definitely a place to get takeout from if you live near O'Fallon. read more

Persis is authentic and amazing Indian cuisine. My sisters and I have eaten here three times in recent weeks. We have experienced a wide variety, as pictured. Everything is freshly made and so good. Either they're short staffed or they're not aware of when they have a customer waiting to order, which makes for a less than ideal experience. Best Indian food I've ever had. My 5 star review is strictly on the food. The naan was hot, fresh, and had the perfect amount of softness and crispiness. The Biryani was huge, perfectly spiced, and fantastic. Chicken Tika Masala? The same! I was disappointed because they were out of the goat, but the chicken was fantastic. As I said earlier, the 5 star review is ONLY for the food. The service wasn't terribly efficient, good, or easy to understand. People that arrived after us got their order placed and served before us. It was a little frustrating. The guys working there seemed like they had never run a restaurant before, and didn't have any experience in a service industry. But they sure know how to cook! Man that food was good. The food here is AMAZING! My girlfriend & I come here at least 2x every week because it is so good! The service is quick and the staff is incredibly respectful as well as helpful throughout the dining experience. Our go to's entrees are the Chana Masala & Chicken Tika Masala but we also can't ever forget to get ourselves an order of the Samosa as well as Garlic Naan before leaving. It's a family friendly restaurant and we love sitting down to eat here when we have the time. When you come in here to eat you can tell the owner and his wife have created something special here in O'Fallon. I liked the goat curry. The biriyani was also tasty (goat). The vegetable samosas on the other hand were terrible. I feel like they were not made in house. I feel like they were not made to order. As soon as they got cold, the filling just plopped out from the shell which was not crispy enough. It was wet in some areas. I feel like this appetizer has to be perfect. It's a staple in Indian cuisine. They failed miserably. Also, what happened to the mint chutney???? They gave me some peanut sauce. And some other sauce that I could not eat.
