As a Rohnert Park Resident, I give this place of business alot of money to help my community. Well on 6/25/20 I walked into the store to buy incense and that was my only purchase. Mind you, I purchase these all the time at least twice a month. Me and my wife entered with masks and proceeded to the incent section. As we where making are selection we had to smell the incents and make sure they where the right kind. We where approached by an associate aggressively demanding us to put our mask on while making our selection. Not to mention our mask were never fully removed during this time. They were open enough just to smell the incents. I stated okay we can do that we are just smelling the incents and noone else was around us besides my wife. After, We continued to make our selections while being harassed by the associate to put our mask on. My wife told him that I cant smell what I'm buying and that I will put it on when i was done. This is reasonable due to what we where buying. After that we gathered our incents and decided to purchase fully masked and leave. The associate refused me and my wife service, which we felt was racial profiling due to his professionalism. My African american wife even offered to step outside to let my latino ( who passes for white) wife purchase the items. He still refused service to us. So I asked for a manager and boy was that a waste of time. I came to this business to buy and go with my mask. I was racially profiled for being african american and harrassed and refused service due to me buying a product I needed to smell. I was the only african american in the store and was harrassed about a mask that we had on. Although, this isnt the first time we where harrassed and racially profiled. So, dont give this place your business. Management doesn't do anything about training or even accept suggestions to training. I hope both manager and associate get fired or be retrained for being racist and conducting racial profiling on shoppers. The store manager was both sarcastic and rude. They have practically anything you might need to "spice" up your love life. All kinds of mood enhancing clothing (for women and men too), lubes galore (some from other countries), and your assortment of "protection" to cover the guys. I took 1/2 star off because they don't have female condoms, yet. I complained and they said they might be ordering them in the future. Toys are everywhere! There is a whole wall of vibrators . . . I wonder what would happen to that wall if all of them turned on at once. There's a section for movies (yes, that kind), reading materials (oui oui), and "apparatus" of so many kinds you could make every room in your house a jungle gym. It appears that attempts have been made to "feng shui" the store. There is a large wall-water-fountain at the store entrance. It gives the store a Zen feature. The free standing display shelves are low and placed at certain angles with plenty of space in between. Clearly, they want you to roam around unencumbered and browse. The young women who work at Spice are all very nice and friendly---totally comfortable with their merchandise and the purpose of their products. There is so much stuff here, one could change the word "boutique" in the store name to "emporium" quite easily. Was just there (10/19) and saw a "mother" with her 7 year old daughter in the back section where all the porn, dildos, and other very adult devices are. When I called the store and spoke with the manager, they were aware of the situation and said this child had been in the store the previous night too and that while they don't normally allow anyone under 18 in the back, they'd made an arrangement with this parent and were allowing her to bring her child in the back of the store a SECOND time. As if it somehow made it better that they had an understanding with the parent and the girl was okay to be back there. I used to love this place, I've been many times.
