Horrific customer service at front end. Host was exceptionally rude to a two person group right behind me. There was no reason as to why they were slow seating tables when 50% of tables were empty. We've been to this restaurant several times over the years. First time, DELICIOUS, elevated dining, with amazing ambience and service. It was sublime. The next time, it was weird, but fine. This time..... ugh. The entry needs to push the hostess table WAY back, so we can get in the door and actually sit on the provided bench while we wait. Everything feels cluttered and like we're in the way. There are brooms and mops, coke machines, and glasses that are stacked from the dishwasher. It's a BEAUTIFUL place. Gorgeous. But you can help but feel disjointed with all the cleaning bits and stuff that should not be seen "out". We made a reservation, but they didn't have it. I showed the lady our text confirmation, and she was doing her best to accommodate several that had the same story. We were seated quickly, there were only 2 of us. The bench with other guests has the tables too close to one another/ impossible for a conversation without eavesdropping inadvertently. Then the dinner. We got the cheesy bread sticks and a side salad as an appetizer. They came out at different times. The side salad was the best part. Cheesy bread sticks were good. I liked it. Hubby got a bbq burger, with the sauce on the side. He said it was tasteless, and over cooked. Sonic has better burgers. I tried something that looked like Interesting combinations: spice wood salad, added chicken. For a $20+ dish, it was very fresh- raspberries blueberries candied pecans and feta all on a huge bed of spinach, and this really weird tart raspberry vinaigrette. Then the chicken. Dry, crazy amount of spice coating on the outside that I think was maybe chipotle? I don't know. The other parts were delicious. The dressing ruined it, and it simply did not go together. Oh! The margarita was nice. Not bad. Service was good. But the whole thing, for and $80 ticket was just really really sub par... I'm sad it was so bad. We won't be back for quite some time. I hope they get a broom closet and cover up the coke machines to offer the atmosphere their menu prices make you expect. The margaritas are a lot of fun to drink! The cucumber one is excellent it was so refreshing! I appreciate the outdoor setting and the ambiance of the place. The nachos were fantastic! I was so happy to have fresh bite sized pieces on top, the pork was a great combo. The guacamole was made with love! This is a hard one. The food was great. Really great. But, in these Covid times the attitude of this place makes it one you don't want to go into if you are vulnerable or someone you know if vulnerable to Covid. First the food. I and two of my dining companions got the Hatch Chile hamburger. Darn good and spicy. I opted for a loaded baked potato instead of the fries (which my wife judged "fantastic") and it was one of the best I've had in a long time. Our other companion, a geologist with a broad experience in eating chicken friend steak, judged his chicken fried steak one of the best. Drinks were tasty, but the amount of liquid in the serving glass was far outweighed by the ice. I got a "Caribbean" margarita. Think of the love child of a regular margarita and a pina colada and you get the idea. Now the Covid stuff. We've all had our shots and are pretty well (95%) protected from the wee beasties. We gambled that that 5% wouldn't jump out and bite us. NO ONE on staff that I could see was wearing a mask. NO ONE. If we weren't protected we would have turned around and marched out. Check out the photo I took of the sign on the door. Well, kids, Covid doesn't give a rip about your religious beliefs. One poorly placed breath from an infected person and, boom, you've got a bunch of infected people. The blood of you-know-who isn't going to do anything for you when you're trying to suck air through a ventilator in the Intensive Care wing of a hospital. So, bottom line, if you are vaccinated knock yourself out and enjoy a damn fine meal. If you aren't protected don't even knock on the door. We WILL get through this crap. Not wearing a mask isn't going to speed up our relief. read more

The food was delicious. My son had the wings (buffalo sauced) and I had the Hatch green chili burger with fries. There was not one part about the that I didn't like. We sat out in the patio with a view of the mountains as a scenic backdrop. Lastly, the service was top notch!!! Our waitress consistently checked on us, but not to the point where it was annoying and she had a great attitude the entire service. Not much of a wait for a Saturday night--many of the customers were in the bar, which looked like a nice place to hangout and watch the rodeo on TV (that's what was on all the TV's in the place). Our server (Rebecca) was very friendly and took good care of our group of 4 ragtag bikers. I had half a wedge salad, catfish entree and a Bulleit Old Fashioned and the bill was $33 before tip. We had reservations for Thanksgiving Day and didn't know what to expect. We were so pleasantly surprised by what a great feast was awaiting us. The food was great and so were the drinks. The view was awesome. The only negative was a waitress came to our table a few times and she was not covering her nose or mouth. She was friendly but it wasn't worth the risk. You may want to make reservations on the weekends as it's not that busy during the week but with certain tourist seasons and Groups that come into Alpine it will have busier nights. had the Vodka pasta with chicken and it was delicious. What a wonderful surprise to find this quality restaurant in Alpine. We stayed at the hotel next door and went there with Alpine friends who raved about the food. They were right! The building is laid out with a bar and tables for big big and small groups. There is an outdoor area with views of the gorgeous west Texas mountains. I had the best chicken Caesar salad. It was fresh and perfectly prepared. Then later that night we ate in the bar and had the best nachos I have ever had which is a huge compliment coming from someone from Tucson. The servers were excellent, attentive professional and friendly. It's a real tribute when you're eating at the bar but only drinking water and yet the bartender is willing to keep refilling your glass with a smile. If you're going to Big Bend you must stop here for a meal before and after your outdoor adventure! read more

Passing through Alpine on the way to New Mexico and happened upon this gem!! Definitely worth a look!! It has a small menu but with all the essentials. A lovely outdoor seating area, with fire pit. There is a nice enclosed bar area with a tv for watching sports. Margaritas were good! A couple of things that could have been better with our entrees but they were good nonetheless! It took too long for a server to bring water and menus. Even longer for the food, and the wine came last! My cheeseburger and fries were cold - the cheese had congealed on the meat. DO NOT ORDER CATFISH. I got the 8 piece catfish meal with soggy fries and disturbingly questionable coleslaw. I paid $20 and ate maybe 5 bites of my meal. Not to mention the tarter tasted like something that came out of a can. I'm sure they have other good food, but the Catfish meal is not it. read more
