Pure joy to be here, eating the yummiest hummus bowl, mini pitas. We first learn about babas from…read morethe state fair several years ago and it has been our go to spot each year to explore their new food items. I finally got a chance to check the actual restaurant out. I love everything about it. The seasonal drinks are refreshing and delicious. Warm pita is like eating clouds. We had about 4 order worths of pita haha. Clean restroom and kids friendly.

They also now have pizza. I was super excited to try the new items and unfortunately they weren't a hit. The Shawarma wrap was disappointing; not enough fillings, lacked flavor and wrap was dry and crumbly and not in a desired flaky way either. And at $17 I felt some kind of way. The pizza was undercooked and soggy. Service was excellent as you order at the walk up counter. The lime and mint slush was delicious and refreshing and made fresh once I ordered it! The calm ambiance and vibe there never disappoint! But I do hope they rethink the new items and make some adjustments to them. I love Baba's and will continue to be an avid customer but I will stick with the hummus bowls and pita and hope they keep that summer lime refresher on the menu!

The food has a genuinely authentic Turkish character that reminds me of meals I had in Istanbul. The steak kabob, rice dishes, baklava, and Turkish tea have all been excellent, and the menu has a nice selection without feeling overwhelming. The tea and desserts in particular make it easy to stay a little longer after dinner and enjoy the evening. The service has always been friendly and attentive, but one thing I especially appreciate is that they never make you feel rushed. On one visit, we stayed for well over two hours after our meal, drinking tea and chatting, and never once felt like anyone was trying to move us along or turn the table over. It has an upscale atmosphere while still feeling comfortable and welcoming. To me, that is what a great restaurant experience should be--not just good food, but a place where you can actually enjoy the company you're with and make a memory out of the evening. If you enjoy Turkish food, I would definitely recommend Lumi. I'll continue coming back whenever I'm in Minneapolis.

They were definitely the highlight of the order. The lentil soup was also good, although it was different from what I was expecting. It was blended lentils vs full form. That was more about my own expectations than anything being wrong with it, and I still enjoyed it. Overall, the food was satisfying and well-prepared, and I would definitely order the lamb chops again.

And I was on board. We made reservations without another thought. I ended up googling the menu and realizing my partner was a little off on what type of cuisine this was and I was in unfamiliar territory though still excited to try. We loved every second of our experience here! The decor was amazing, the service was exceptional, the food was to die for. They had a special Valentine's Day menu which included beef Wellington for two, so we got that. Asked if it had sides and they said no. I asked if a veg was possible, expecting frozen, microwaved bland veggies. We got beautifully roasted, seasoned veggies that were amazing. Plus the beef Wellington was melting in our mouths. Cocktails were also exceptional. We had an espresso martini and old fashioned which came with a table side experience. We ended our adventure with the sticky toffee torte which was another exceptional dish. Our server was so kind and so so knowledgeable about every item and restaurant in the owners catalog. Very impressive all around.

Tables all around the restaurant, including the bar, left from previous patrons. Looks like a bomb went off. After 1+ hour, most of the tables are still covered in dirty plates and napkins. It's not that busy, maybe 10-20% full from 8:30 pm and beyond. Vibes = 2/10. What about the food? I've traveled all over the Mediterranean and Middle East. I'd give the Shashuka a 5-6 out of 10. It was supposed to be served with crepes and I had visions of Saluf and Sons Yemeni restaurant in Tel Aviv (now closed). Here it was served with a French bread / hot dog bun. Crepe???? I guess French bread and crepes are from the same country, but count me as unimpressed.
