The service was very good and the food too. The place definitely needs cleaning. The floors look awful.

Upon entering the restaurant the aroma of spices was immediately present and the staff greeted us and sat us right away. A group of 4 of us decided to try Spicy India for the first time and were very happy with our experience. I was the only one of the 4 who had enjoyed Indian food before so it was a new experience for the rest of them. I ordered the goat dum biryani and garlic naan. It took about 15 minutes for all of our food to arrive and boy was it worth the wait. The goat was extremely tender and the biryani was packed with flavor. The naan was hot and fluffy and very flavorful as well. I decided to only eat half of my portion, so I was still hungry enough to enjoy dessert. I decided on the gulab jamun. It was very good as well and was obviously freshly made. This experience was a great one and we all will absolutely be returning. I hope to see Spicy India in the Abilene community for a long time. read more

Excellent food! Mediocre service at best as expressed in many of the previous reviews. I had the fried spinach appetizer, very heavy on the cumin, but it came without any kind of dipping sauce, and when I asked for the tamarind sauce, it was delivered to the table next to me, (they were kind enough to let me have it when I told them of the mix-up). Spicy goat curry as an entree, and it delivered perfectly, spicy, thick, and very tender, served with rice. I asked for naan after being served and the waiter said this dish is served with rice, as though he didn't want me to have any. Hmmmm, next time I'll order naan earlier. I will return soon, but will speak with the lady who owns the place if there are any communication issues, as she seems to speak English very well. read more

This place hasn't been open long and I hope it never closes. I've been here probably close to 20 times in the past two months. They're consistent, clean, timely, and just so so so so good. This is a hidden gem located in Abilene. I've lived all over the US and I have had some really great Indian food. Their food was incredibly solid. While the cook time was on the longer side, it was worth the wait. We had the chicken tikka misala, rice, naan, and, vegetable biryani. Portion sizes were great. Worth the trip. read more

This has become our go to restaurant in Abilene. The food is authentic and delicious. Portion sizes are great too. As the name may suggest the food can be on the spicy side. Be sure to use caution when ordering. My recommendations are the chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, and the butter chicken. read more

I can't say enough about this food. It does look less than safe from the outside but once in the restaurant and going back a few times, it's fine. The butter chicken and garlic naan keep me going back. I'm not a big fan of spicy food so I stick to that dish and am apprehensive of trying anything else because I like it so much! read more

My husband saw the sign for, Spice India, while driving downtown, and suggested we eat there. So glad we did. The door to the restaurant was locked, so we went around to the hotel lobby, and the nice young lady brought us in to the restaurant. So go check the lobby if the door is closed, it's worth it. The Mango Lassi, was great! Not to sweet, but rich and yummy. We had the fried pockets filled with vegetables, salomas, (sorry, bad spelling ) with a spicy dip on the sides, delightful . We also had the butter chicken, just the right spice for us, and the spinach and cheese dish, (I refuse to embarrass myself by even TRYING, to spell this dish.). I looooove Indian food and was excited to find out that Abilene had a place. We had the samosa and it was delicious. For the entree my husband had the tikka mosala and i had the spicy India chicken curry and we had naan. Hands down the entrees were awesome. We definitely will be back here more often . read more

The food tasted good. The service was ok (I've had better). The flavors were authentic. It was a little pricey but not horrible. A little hard to find. My complaint/concern is the sanction. Pleasantly surprised by this place! The samosas are to die for! They are so flavorful. The naan is not the best but it is passable. The chicken tikka is also quite flavorful and the chicken fried rice is phenomenal! I am not a huge fan of indian but I do like trying new things and this was a great choice. Not sure if we caught them on an off day or not. I was excited to try because of all the great reviews. We walked in and were seated, from there it took about 20 minutes for anyone to get our drink order. Our drinks were delievered and the waiter just walked away although we were ready to order. We waited another 10-15 minutes to order. The food came out cold, and the rice we could tell was old and probably sitting around for awhile. I was very disappointed in both the service and our food. Hopefully, this is a rare occurrence because i do think abilene needs some variety when it comes to food! read more

There's not much in the way of locally owned, fresh made food in Abilene, so I have pretty low expectations when it comes to eating out. Decent Indian restaurant. Menu while adequate was for an Indian restaurant extremely sparse albeit varied. Their goat dish was ca60% very hot sauce, ca30% bones, and 10% meat. Lassi a bit thin, over whipped, and foamy. Butter nan fresh, hot, chewy crispy, and delicious. Cauliflower covered in a very crispy fried batter and well laced with a sweet mildly hot sauce. Looking forward to returning often to work my way through their menu. Should say that my favorite cuisine is East Indian. Wish they were on south side of town. read more

Ordered the Chicken tikka Marsala and Chicken biryani! Chicken biryani was beyond amazing. The tikka Marsala had a creamier base in the sauce which lead us to believe it was a yogurt base. (It gives it more of a thicker and richer taste. We prefer the Marsala sauce a little thinner to spread over the rice as the flavors are already full and rich.) We will definitely be back!! I am a very picky eater and didn't think I would be a fan of Indian food, but this place is incredible! I love the different types of bread they make and the dishes are wonderful!
