We have passed by this restaurant so many times but never went in because it looks seedy on the outside....our mistake, and I definitely regret it! Staff was extremely attentive, friendly, and helpful. Prices were reasonable and I think even cheaper than others in the area. But the food - yes!! My family and I tried this place for the first time yesterday. The salsa and chips were very good. I could have made a meal out of them. I had the cheese enchiladas with queso sauce. They were very good, but the queso was a little too thick for me. I had a bowl of beans instead of the refried beans, which were very tasty. My daughter had the beef nachos and said they were good. There were so many she couldn't eat them all. My son-in-law said they shrimp quesadillas were wonderful; and my husband was impressed with the chicken enchiladas. My granddaughter enjoyed her kids' quesadillas! The dessert menu was tempting, but none of us could eat another bite. Next time I'll eat less salsa and chips (which will be hard to do) and try the flan or fried ice cream! read more

We drove 120 miles round trip to try this place, not disappointed. Both had the three enchilada meal. One cheese with green tomatillo sauce and one meat with meat chili sauce, the rice was what you typically find in most Mexican restaurants, but the beans were smooth and creamy, overall a very good meal. Just wish we had good Mexican food like this in Wise County. Service was okay, nothing special, the building inside needs some updating. I really like their food. Not too salty. You might have to add a bit of salt if you're a person that likes to taste the salt. I just add the salsa, which I like to do anyway, and it's perfect. They have good tea. Good chips and salsa. Friendly people. Never been served bad food nor bad service. Good place. More authentic than Taco Bell or Chili's. But a bit more Tex-Mex than Mexico. And I like both. Some prefer Tex-Mex to total authentic. I think they give Dos Chili's a run for their money and I like to eat at all the places mentioned. ¡BUEN PROVECHO! Great TexMex! I was greeted and seated promptly. Quickly issued chips with salsa and queso. I ordered quesadillas. Food was ready quickly given it was a busy evening. The quesadillas appeared small but were the perfect amount of food. I was given the option to add another when I ordered but declined. Served with rice and beans on a bed of lettuce. Service was great. I was offered desert to which I accepted and ordered the sopapilla. It was delicious. Never ran out of tea. I'll try to stop here again in the future. I was impressed that they had vegetarian options for those of us who aren't on a steady meat diet. Service was great here, vegetarian enchiladas were delish as were the charro beans. We returned here for a second time. Food was EXCELLENT and service was great. Much improvement since our last visit. The taco salad was perfect- Very fresh and the chicken was juicy and had a lot of flavor. They weren't stingy with the meat. Will be back here more often. read more

When they first open, their food was fantastic, and well spicy Mexican food. Now their food is very blend because as I was told "the locals don't like spicy food". Food is often messed up as well, I would say about 40% of the time. I certainly would go back, but my expectations are low. read more

My hubby and I were traveling with a friend, and we came across this gem! I had the Carne asada which was really flavorful, my hubby had the chimichanga with shredded fajita beef, which he said was amazing. Our friend had the Carne giusada and he said it was tender with great flavors. Everyone was very nice and welcoming!! Highly recommend this place if your in the area!! read more

We haven't been here in awhile and we were DEFINITELY not disappointed tonight! My wife and I decided on Spicy Mexico tonight and arrived at about 15 minutes to closing. The owner welcomed us and the waiter showed us to our table. Their staff is still the most hospitable and professional in town!! We were immediately given chips and excellent salsa. The salsa was hearty and just the right amount of spice. Next came their delicious queso which was soooo good we almost licked the bowl clean. We ordered a Shrimp cocktail and fajitas for two. When they arrived we dove right in. The shrimp cocktail was loaded with shrimp and avocado and had an excellent,not watery, consistency. It could have been a little spicier but I like my food hot. As it was, it was mild enough that my wife could enjoy it. The fajitas were awesome!! The carne asada was tender and flavorful and the chicken was cooked to perfection. Only complaint was they were short on onions and bell peppers but what is that to complain about, really. Usually it's the other way around, too many vegetables and very little meat! We ended up taking a LOT of leftovers home. We had an extremely enjoyable dinner and were NEVER rushed. The waiter and the owner both thanked us when we left and invited us to come back soon. The only drawback here is they only have a beer and wine license so the pina colada we shared was unsatisfying. We would probably eat here more often if they had a full bar. To sum it all up though we had a FANTASTIC meal and a GREAT night. We will return!! Spicy Mexico is well worth your time if your in Bowie!!! read more

I did not give this place any stars because when we went to eat there, we got canned retried beans, canned chili over our prefrozen tamales and I got a crispy taco with my dinner and it was plain fried hamburger meat, no seasonings and cold. When we complained, the lady said the tamales were indeed frozen. We were not offered any kind of discount and was told they were training a new cook and that could be the reason the taco meat was cold. We will never eat there again and I will not recommend it to anyone. Dos chilies is a far better place to go to get authentic Mexican food. read more

We went here after Bowie's Trade Days after seeing some reviews on the net. It was great! The queso really is drinkable! It is really good and our food was hot and fresh. Also, not expensive. First off, we went to Bowie for our honeymoon. There aren't that many places to eat there(and most close fairly early). We procrastinated and took awhile to get settled at out hotel. It was right at 9:30 when we got there and they close at 10. I asked if we were too late and she said it wasn't a problem. She sat us in Saul's(I didn't get the spelling right probably)section. We told him it was our first time here and I asked him for suggestions. He advised a plate that had a small variety of a few things on the menu and I added a crispy taco to the order. I LOVE taco's. He brought out the salsa, chips and queso. The chips were hot and fresh. The salsa was AMAZING. The queso was even better!!! Honestly, it's the best chips, salsa and queso I have ever eaten....ever! Then he brought out dinner. I had mini chicken quesadillas, crispy beef taco, beef enchilada, cheese enchilada, rice and beans. The mini quesadillas were so tasty! The crispy beef taco was perfection!! The enchiladas were amazing. I am VERY picky about my beans and rice. Let me tell you something...they have the best refried beans I have eaten!! Their rice is spot on and tastes just like my friends abuela made it with love. Our waiter was friendly, nice, fast and a sweetheart! The price for two was well under $30.00. We will be driving there at least once a month for dinner even though it's 30 minutes away. read more

Stopped here to grab our first Tex Mex after returning from a 2 week trip to Colorado. Rule number one... Mexican food is best in Texas! There is a reason it has it's own "Tex Mex" food category! We were not disappointed at all!!! We arrived at 12:17 pm. They were very busy with the lunch crowd but they seated us quickly and we had Christian as our server. Great smile and very attentive. We had excellent service!!! Thank you again! I had the vegetarian enchiladas with tomatillo sauce and my husband had fish tacos. We both had charro beans. Both dishes were excellent! My enchiladas were made with fresh spinach and the fish tacos were served with fresh avocado!!! The charro beans were so delicious that we ate the broth too. The chips were not greasy. We will stop here again! Great Tex Mex. Plan your trip based on their hours and meal time. By the way, we were back on the road at 12:57 pm and very happy!
