Blackened chicken combo
Una C.

Came here after escaping the long lines for shake shack. My husband and I were glad we did. We came across Spicy Restaurants which was only a few minutes walk further from shake shack. We had split an ordered of the blackened chicken combo with sweet plantains and green rice with home made spicy sauces on the side. We were very satisfied with and filled afterwards. Definitely would come back and recommend everyone else that's also shopping around Woodbury commons.

Amazing tacos. Great sauces, but not overly hot. Creative sides. Overall, really enjoyable

We recently tried the Put Some Meat on Your Bones Food Truck and had mixed feelings about the…read moreexperience. The food itself was very good. We ordered the jerk chicken grilled cheese with tomato soup, and the flavor combination was excellent. The sandwich was packed with flavor and the tomato soup paired nicely with it. However, the service side of the experience could definitely be improved. The wait time was longer than usual because we were told they only take one preset order at a time and don't start the next order until the current one is completely finished. While the food was good, that process makes things move pretty slowly. Additionally, on a previous visit we drove a good distance and arrived about 5-10 minutes before the posted closing time, and there was no line or anyone waiting to be served. The person working was outside the truck having a conversation with someone and told us they were already closed. It was frustrating since we made the effort to get there before closing. Seeing the truck closed while someone was standing outside talking made it a little hard to digest. Overall, the food is definitely good and worth trying, but the service seems a bit selective at times. Hopefully that part improves because the food really does have great potential.

We've been to at least 30 weddings collectively and the food at ours was top two. We did a salad course, pasta, 5 varieties of pies, two wood fired veggie variations and the cast iron cookies. MPT also handled cocktail hour--arrancini, chicken tenders and chicken meat balls, plus charcuterie and crudite. Everything was so delicious and impressive, our guests still talk about it. We had an upscale backyard wedding, and the guys accommodated our request to do family style service. The execution was completely seamless and the presentation was even more intentional than we expected. The food was hot, delicious, perfectly timed and well portioned. I honestly do not have a single bad thing to say. We have been thinking of other events we can host just so we can use Mobile Pie Truck again. Frank was very easy to work with, communicative and professional. They accommodated requests for additional items like pastas and salads we were interested in that weren't on the menu. They helped curate our courses and offered suggestions on what would and wouldn't work for menu options at scale. They were friendly and clean and they had a really impressive setup. We found their pricing to be the most reasonable of all the vendors we looked into, and the execution was truly seamless. Wedding food even at the more dialed in venues can be so boring, forgettable and most of all expensive. Mobile Pie Truck was the antidote to all the typical wedding catering pitfalls and then some. Cannot wait to use them again. Frank thank you so much for everything. We'll update with professional photography towards the end of the year:) We love Mobile Pie Truck!! Also!! I can confidently say you should completely disregard the one negative review from 5 years ago about a veggie pizza the reviewer seemed to not appreciate had veggies on. These guys are top notch, the pizza is delicious and they are total pros who care about their business.

The dough is fluffy but with a firm base so the slices don't fall apart. The toppings are fresh and well balanced. I particularly loved the addition of fresh basil on the margarita, which is not common even for stationary pizza joints. Cousins Maine Lobster recently rolled into Forest Commons in Staten Island, and I finally had the…read morechance to see if the Shark Tank hype was real. As someone who is permanently avoiding corporate coffee in favor of supporting small businesses, I was more than ready for a local food truck pilgrimage. The Culinary Reality Check: Maine vs. My Expectations. I went in with one goal: the Connecticut Roll. For anyone wondering, yes, I am the rare foodie who is actually allergic to mayo, making this the only safe harbor for me. The Lobster: Scrumptious, soft, and undeniably fresh. Even though it arrived "bone dry" (mine was definitely missing the signature butter drizzle), the quality of the meat was top-tier. The Bread: Perfectly soft and fresh. However, since it lacked that buttery goodness, I ended up skipping most of the bun to just savor the lobster. The Portion: Let's talk about that $30+ price tag. I opened my small box to find a bun that was... well, let's just say it wasn't exactly a cruise ship buffet portion. It's a respectable sandwich, but definitely more of a "special occasion" snack than a full-on meal. The Tater Tot Engineering Project: Now, while the lobster was the intended star, the tater tots absolutely stole the show. When I saw the large box, my brain immediately assumed it was for the roll. Nope. It was a literal mountain of tots. They were "Perfectly fried and crisp." Zero grease (a miracle for food truck fare). Plentiful enough that I "engineered" two additional meals out of them over the next 48 hours. Even on day three, these tots were still delicious and crispy. I basically had a three-day tater tot residency in my own kitchen. The Verdict: Insight for Fellow Foodies. If you're headed to the Cousins Maine Lobster truck, go for the taste and the freshness--it truly is some of the best-tasting lobster around. Just be aware that you are paying "NYC-on-wheels" prices for smaller portions. My Pro Tip: Don't let your expectations fail you like mine did. It's a food truck, not a seated restaurant. Enjoy the lobster for the delicacy it is, but prepare to have enough tater tots (if you buy these) to feed a small village (or just yourself for the next three days). Do you think the "butter-less" Connecticut roll was a one-time fluke, or should I explicitly ask for extra "liquid gold" next time? Let me know. :-)
